I cannot shake my jealousy and concern about a girl's relationship past, especially ones that occurred in her youth. It has gotten to be so bad that I cannot even get over the fact that a girl has had a male best friend.

It has nothing to do with her sex history as much as it has to do with her emotional/love history.

Keep in mind I never had a girlfriend. I don't want to give my heart to a girl where a hypothetical situation exists to where she can reunite with a guy from her youth (one she knew during college age or younger) and it be a sweeter outcome, even if she chooses not to do it. In fact, it hurts me too much to even face her.

I missed out on young love as an adolescent, and I feel it has hurt me. I never got to have that intense, innocent, hopeless romantic sort of love.

I have this sense of inner dread. I get easily triggered now to the point of being dysfunctional and wishing I would fall sick and die.

Does Unconditional Love exist in romantic relationships? Or is it just reserved for parents and siblings? And if it does exist in romantic relationships would you still love them after they cheated on you over and over and over again? Or maybe betrayed you somehow and stabbed you in the back? Or would you expect them to love you back unconditionally as a condition? ;)

I've found that in general, men and women do not "fall in love" together but rather one of the two will try to pursue or attract the other with a relationship in mind (or sex, if you're that kind of person). Furthermore, most would agree that is in someway more difficult to woo a pretty girl vs one who isn't quite so pretty.

That said, is there any objective difference between successfully courting an attractive woman and a more plain one (as a guy)?


If the answer is no, then likely the difficulty is that a man's confidence is affected, creating uncertainty and self-doubt. This is by far the most attractive option since it gives hope, but is it realistic?

If the answer is yes, than perhaps an attractive woman is intentionally pickier about her choice of romantic partners, knowing that she is in demand

I ask because I've grown increasingly sick of the invisible wall of separation that exists between me and some girls, simply because of some of my facial imperfections. I despise the thought of accepting a lower standard, or that I would have to hope that a beautiful girl would happen to have low enough standards to include me. It feels like being locked in a cage. I just want a girlfriend whom I can truly call beautiful without reservation so that I don't have to keep half-lying.

One cannot have faith, without also having doubt at the same time.

Kierkegaard compares religious faith to romantic love, in that both require total commitment in something that there will never be enough evidence for its justification.

He suggests, that in order to have faith in god or a loved one, one has to be inherently doubtful of the religious doctrine / the commitment of a loved one and still choose to have faith in them despite that fact.
He believes, that an absolute belief in something you can never be certain about, is not faith but naivety and foolishness.

He justifies this by saying that it takes no faith to believe that a pencil exists, when you can touch it and see it lay on your desk.
Thus, you can only have faith in things you can't ever be certain about.
