Have you ever wanted to shake someone in this site and tell them: "This is my opinion that you asked for!"

Do you sometimes find someone in this site that asks for opinions, and then when you give yours, you find yourself in a middle of nonsense, like they don't accept what you said or start arguing with your opinion? (◐∇◐") (in a bad way, judging you, insulting..) not like trying to understand your point) and then they will be like blocking you because you didn't answer as they wanted xD I mean isn't the block option for when someone bad talk (swearing badly, dirty talks..) to you? (¬_¬)

And if they already know what they must do why did they ask? If they are not going to accept different opinions from different cultures, countries, ages and religions, why to ask?

If you already made up your mind, why to ask?

If you are not going to accept whatever people will tell you, why to ask?

If you don't have the least needed to start an argument (respect, open mind, knowledge about the subject, accepting the difference in opinions..) why do you ask for them?

If you don't stand someone telling you advice about what to do or not, and consider it as if they are telling you: "you are dumb", "you are young", "you are a troll", "they are judging me".. Etc while in mostly of the time they are just helping you out since they or their entourage had that experience?

If you are going to be judgmental over people opinions, why don't you judge over your own question by yourself?

I don't know if anyone had been in a situation like this, but I know that the majority of us are here to help people and listen to them or to be helped out in something, so why not be accepting? Before rushing in seing that person who gave you its opinion as a "bad" person, we should all try to understand why they'd say that first and accept their opinion even if we find it not logical, and by accepting I mean accepting the difference and the circumstances that made that person say it （＾ω＾）

Several times. I'm used to it now. I think I even have used the words something to the effect, "You're the one asking for opinions, and I gave one."

And I have to laugh at some people here who scoff at the blocking feature, as if it's a way that we "can't handle the truth". If the truth includes personal insults and saying discourteous things that are meant to hurt, then blocking it will be. That's what the feature is there for. People who have no social skills are the first ones to say, "Oh that just means I'm too intelligent for you," or, "I guess I won that argument," or anything similar. Yeah, wrong. It's because I don't use this site to be called a whore from someone just because I've had premarital sex (in a monogamous long term relationship, I'll add), or other insults about me personally that are only based on presumptions, the fact we had differing opinions, or are taunting or baiting after the discussion is finished with the intent to simply annoy me.

I've been lucky that when I ask questions, I get a pretty good response from people and I have never lashed out for someone taking the time to answer my question. As for my myTakes, it's obvious when someone doesn't read them and spouts off some information that I *should* have said (that I actually had covered), so I usually ignore it and let them sit there in the thread looking like morons. My favourite lately is when they try and teach me what a word or phrase means, and they are incorrect. LOL I'm thinking, "Right.. I'm an English major and a writer for over 22 years, who has written two books that have been published... please teach me your supreme literary wisdom, random GaGer, who is all of 20 years-old."

This is true, some peoples version of "the truth" is calling people stupid or crazy for having different views (and I'm not talking about thinking that pedophilia is okay I'm talking about having different cultural views or just different opinions in general)

I have seen a lot of baiting questions where the Asker is just looking for reasons to go off on some people or a group of people knowing that their opinions are just going to be different. I've seen the nicest people here get roasted by an Asker and I know the person didn't deserve it. It's the internet and people are going to be assholes behind their anonymity.

There's a huge difference between asking something and getting in to a healthy disagreement, than asking/answering and laying out the personal nonsense that they know nothing about from the other user. I tolerate one, and not the other, and it's the reason I've retained my tolerance on the site for a year and a half now. There are also topics I'm deliberately avoiding now only because I've had my say and the outcome is usually the same no matter what anyway. No need to ride the merry-go-round of negativity all the time.

I usually find blocking someone to just be a show that you can't handle someone saying something you don't like, as it's happened to me a few times, now. Like, one asshole on here (can't even remember his name, now) blocked me because I was having a non-aggressive debate with him about Atheism and instead of being a big boy and giving me actual counter-arguments, he got hot under the collar and blocked me.

Unless you're being consistently harassed by someone with no rhyme or reason then alright, blocking is probably for the best, but I VERY rarely block people on ANYTHING unless I can tell that they're just outright looking to vent.

Yes indeed religious debating with some people make them sometimes block you if they don't like what you are saying even if you are actually clarifying their question

Yes, I called is passive aggressiveness, they get off by saying something offensive and then block you to prevent your response.

The blocking option on this site is hampering free speech in the current implementation. It should be a choice between stating your opinion or blocking, not this passive aggressiveness give insult and then block.

I am writing anonymous all the time because of this. In that why I can combat the passive aggressiveness whenever face with it.

I like what @Marinepilot said: "Most people are allergic to the truth" that is so true, most people are even allergic to different opinions. Just see all the debates about feminism, abortion, gay righs, religion or any other kind of sensitive issues.

Yup I totally agree, you can always end up a difference in opinions by saying: "it is true but I think it can be more like... But I respect your opinion" or anything similar to this and THEN if they say something rude it is okay to block them or whatever but blocking them because they said something different or as you said insult them then block them to not talk back, that's just dumb and they are in the wrong place :)

WRONG, the problem is you FEEL insulted whenever I say something you disagree with for instance, I have never said anything personal to you or about you, yet you have tried to block me as 'Anonymous'.
I never say something based on presumptions, but based on fact or opinions, only you don't find out because you left the 'conversation' before the point was made.
I never taunt, I do use bait but never intent to annoy.

I was surprised at first, but figured out pretty quickly that some people are just here to complain, to have their ideas confirmed, or to find an argument. I'm learning to recognize their posts and not waste my time. Plenty of other people here who are really trying to get opinions, and they're fun to have an exchange with.

I am not an old Gager in here, and at first I was like giving my opinion in any post that I got knowledge about it or opinions (this is how it is supposed to be right?) and then till now it happened to me twice like "oh who cares about your opinion, no you are wrong" and then they bad talk and block you, sometimes they actually don't get what you said and even if you try to end the argument friendly and with respect you still find yourself in it! Like "Hello? I am trying to be nice and I am actually accepting your point of view, look there is the opinion you asked for!" but they will be like "nope you are WRONG Blablabla" I think they should add a category "Agree with my opinion" or "if you think like me join us with your opinions"

This happens daily lol If I had a dime for every time I wanted to say it I would be rich. I just state my opinion and keep it moving what I do take issue with is when someone besides the asker comments on my opinion and everyone that doesn't have the same one as theirs so they all in their feelings. I want to shake them because I'm allowed to have a different view that is life get over it lol.

I'm not that invested in it most of the time. This place is for sharing opinions, and I'll share mine if I please. If some people don't like that it's not really my problem and I don't get hung up on it emotionally, though sometimes I'll double down on the opinion.
