another intrestign mytake!
Not really different then the dutch
Somebody down in comments have written specifially about Dutch too.
I have seen it! S=I agree about what she wrote
Dou you think in general (Shouldnt do this but!!) the Dutch are more "rude" than the Germans?
can you explain this please?
My bad. the word is actually "blunt" and not "rude". she writes comparing Germans and Dutch - "1. We're even more blunt or at the same level"
So are Dutch "generally" more blunt?
hard to say if we are more or less but we are blunt yes
Warmly blunt xD
Really? Cuz they are all over them Mercedes. And you forgot that they have bread with condiments for breakfast, lunch and dinner pretty much 365 days a year. But damn they have good food over there (and the bread is superb. They don't mess around)
So I have to ask "do you understand English" instead of the usual way... Hmmm... No thanks. I'll stick to the usual.
What is the usual way?
Half of this is total bullshit and the other half is partially true,
no idea what you intended, but you failed.
Can you point out the total bullshit and the partial bullshit just for my knowledge?
I usually record opinion of people around me and put into words. I did not intend to offend any German present.
I lived in a half a million people city and in a 150k people city and in neither I have met many people who loved doing running and such, I see some every day, but it's always the same 5-10 people that run all day, the other few hundred people I see in the park every day are not interested in running, they just walk a bit, usually with their dogs or kids.
Men are not really shy, a few are, but many just don't care and don't see a point in approaching; however, it doesn't mean women approach more than men; that's rare. Very rare. Usually they don't care just as much.
BMW has a kinda bad image in Germany, BMW drivers are considered either some lower class idiots who feel awesome for buying a half broken car or some wannabe businessmen who always feel like the road is theirs. Oh, and, no, in this generation people don't care too much about cars anymore.
To be continued.
For Germans, being punctual is calling you half an hour later and telling you that they need another hour.
I am the only German I have ever met that cared about being punctual.
And I am not totally sure about that, but I don't think I have ever been to someone who had cold dinner, I have also rarely heard the word "Abendbrot" over the last few years, it's been kinda replaced by "Abendessen".
I don't know what you mean by the "speak" vs. "understand" thingy there, to me it doesn't matter how you ask, I don't know about others.
Saying sorry and thank you isn't really something about politeness here anymore, it's just as common as saying hello in most cases. However, depending on where you are, people won't say sorry for stepping on your foot or something.
Whatever your guy friend told you... I have no idea where he got that, but there is no such thing as chivalry among the ~20 years-generation, you sometimes hold the door open for people, people in general, not necessarily women.
Okay, whenever I gaze out of my window I see some people jogging, running, cycling. Also I live near river Rhine and go regularly for jogging at different hours while encountering different people every few days. I think my living near Rhine lets me notice many people who do physical exercise. Yes even during rains. Some people run with their baby in baby-trolly!! This part was amazing for me.
Again, may be they are not shy. I encountered shy people around myself. This can be biased by the fact that I work mainly with nerds and geeks!! Almost entire day I communicate with people in applied sciences. Very few "cool kids" around.
What? I didn't know this opinion about BMW. I just notice the cars around the institutes I am linked to. BMW has a good share among affluent professors and directors. Obviously yes!! even taxis are BMW's!!!
About punctuality I find them good deal punctual. I would consider them punctual enough in comparison to people from my country. I didn't see any of my German friends being late anywhere. not even in class.
Again!!! I see almost all the germans in my dormitory having abendbrot mostly vs abendessen rarely.
"speak" vs. "understand": This one is common among foreigners! Maybe you dont know the dynamics of it. Maybe we have better experience of it as we are foreigners here.
Yes, saying sorry and thank you have become almost like saying hello but this is uncommon at my place. I think this is inherent politeness acquired by your society.
I have no idea too why he told that but I assumed it is due to chivalry.
Which part of Germany are you from?
Also I never said all germans are like this :) Well they are humans and they can be however they want to. This is the maximum number of characters I encountered and noticed.
Hm, I am from the Northwest and from one of the bigger cities in the country, people are different here compared to what you see elsewhere. In high school ("Gymnasiale Oberstufe" is what I mean) it was very common that a quarter or so of the class came late, and the teacher often came late as well. And this was at really good reputable schools with students from good families.
I am starting to assume that you live in a smaller city, don't you?
What? This late?
I remember giving an extra punishment exam because 3 students came 10 minutes late to an option seminar which does not have any credits! (We retaliated and the course administrator told me this is how things work here. Come on time please.)
I remeber my professor leaving class just a punishment because a student came 15 minutes late. Now he closes door and does not let anyone enter after 5 minutes past the class.
Another of my friend called as Florian slipped of his bie during snow and had his pants a bit ripped from legs. He reached exams 7 minutes late and he was told get out my professor.
We had a dinner outside and the germans came on time and rest after half an hour. :P
I live in Bonn-Cologne area.
*Slipped off his bike..
I knew that kind of people as well, but most don't really care too much if someone is late. I have never experienced someone coming too late to an exam not being allowed to write it, however, I haven't seen too many people come late to an exam either, and if, then maybe a few minutes only.
The guy had a reason for coming late. Professor was a bit strict I would say.
I did not really encounter anyone who did not mind coming late (in contrast to your opinion). In fact, one of the Iranian supervisor of mine also became really punctual and would not allow anyone to present their seminar if they were more than 5 minutes late.
I really like this habit of being punctual tbh!!! It have generated only good feelings in my heart about Germany and Germans. The habit of being which even my parents and teachers were not able to remove from me, was removed by coming to Germany.
Habit of being late!!
I really wish I'd experience the same thing around me, it has pissed me off all my life that people are always late and it has been even more annoying to hear all that "Germans are punctual" thing all the time when never having seen that. :(
Well if I remember at least one instance, then we had a really cool German professor who was always late for lecture, came to class and wished us good morning you idiots, liked motor-bike in place of any car. So I believe there is more to Germans than just these points :) I'd like to meet the kind of Germans you are mentioning. I did not encounter non-punctual Germans maybe because I work around computer scientists, robot makers and engineers.
"For Germans, being punctual is calling you half an hour later and telling you that they need another hour."
Redest du von der Deutschen Bahn? 😹😹😹😹😹😹
I wanna meet pretty German ladies
I consider all of them pretty :)
Yeah but I'm referring to the hot ones lol and also their products are in good quality and durable
Of course you'd find them too.
I love beer but I'm not alcoholic sometimes I want to forget something so having a delicious beer feels like heaven
I dont have idea how one finds beer as delicious. I didn't develop taste for it yet except some like desperado bier.
But for not so drinker it is very bitter, but for casual drinker like me it is like a strong soft drinks or maybe I'm mature (in a masculine sense) to handle the bitter taste of beer
I'm part German. Does that count? lol
If your pocket is full of currywurst and beer lol xD xD
Jokes apart. Yes. :)
This is nicely written:-)
Thank you :)
You're welcome 😊
I'be heard german girls luv anal
You need to ask them about this opinion yourselves. haha
Germany has the lowest birth rate in the world and a government that wants to replace Germans with people from Africa and Asia.
they also have a history of genocide and mayhem... .
History! A history they regret and dont take pride in.
your sorrow or sympathy means nothing. these are real crimes against humanity that deserve real punishment and application of the law. the millions of ethical, emotional and physical damages, the slaughter of many innocent women, children and infants, the destruction of the train rails and wagons, pf infrastractures, the stealing of the gold and the stealing of real money in exchange of printed one, that happened in Greece by the nazis, should all be repaid. The media distort everything and make it seem like we owe you. in fact you owe us.
Man!! I come from a country which was ruled by British for virtually more than 100 years. Before British came, my nation was called as a Golden Bird and after it left, we were left with poverty through which we are not yet through. I believe what they did was wrong but holding grudges would not let anyone be anywhere. Germany owes reparations to Jews. YES it does but bringing to fault current generation is not the solution.
the jews issue was just over-inflated and over-projected. many more and more grae genocides are yet unpaid. as for you logic its completely "newagy", pseudohippie and flawed. crimes against humanity are worse than crimes against individuals, and just because a couple generations time has past they dont get deleted magically from the memory of humanity. war damages were paid even after centuries in some cases when there was finally a decision from an international court. it has nothing to do with holding a grudge. the mmory must be kept intac so the newer generations dont repeat the mistakes of their ancestors and so that global equilibrium and justice are restored.
Obviously!! Whatever you said is true.
They were killed. NOTHING is "over-inflated and over-projected". It's killing.
But shaming them again and again is also not the option. Raising awareness; good.
"Global equilibrium and justice are restored." <- This is really Idealistic of you. No society is ideal and would never be.
Moreover I did not make this post to have discussion on this topic.
yeah dear whatever floats your boat. i had to state the truth and correct your erroneous opinion. not because i have anything against you personally but for the truth's and justice's shake. and yet you are mistaken, its not about idealism. and dont you worry we are striving for global recognition and ethical & physical payment for the triad of genocides turkey commited. against the Greeks of Pontus, Armenians and Assyrians at the beggining of the previous century. Humanity doesn't forget, non-forgetfulness and truth are one word in greek. a genocide, or any crime against humanity shall be paid due to the degree possible. those who forget are doomed to perish. only new age preaches forgetfulness and pseudo-unity of the nations. there cannot be true unity when they have unsolved differences. when my grandfather's house which was forcefully taken is still in Smyrna, Asia Minor, i can't pretend i'm brother with the Turks and everything is ok. dont be deluded.
Whatever is to happen, will happen.
Cause a country is responsible for what some lunatic from a neighboring country did some 60 years ago... Right... You do realise that most of the modern germans have nothing to do with Auschwitz and Hitler, right? The Neonazis is only a minority. They're taken so many syrian refugees for fuck's sake! Will you move on to 2015 and not live in the 1940s anymore?
@TheDevilInside Totally true!! When no one wanted to take Syrian refugees, Germany did. Moreover they are having a rule now in schools which includes girls wearing longer skirts and pants, just because of intake of refugees who are not used to girls wearing whatever they want to. I believe the culture of Germany is going to change in few years.
@TheDevilInside you dont belong to Humanity, this German couple does. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAoKNv2JSK8 when they read what their ancestors did they gave their whole pension to the greek government. they said if our government doesn't do it, its our obligation to do it.
cool story bro..
Bro?
yes, bro.
Okay sis!!
yep, cos i'm not allowed to make this opinion... i say as i please.,.. get over it looololol.
Okay sis :P
not bothered if you're offended but you're not smart enough to realise.
Neither bothered nor offended!! I am not "cool enough" to understand ;)
that's fine, but you don't lie well, good for you..
I don't know about lying!! However seriously I'm not offended but rather curious about a girl being mentioned as "bro"!!
eh? just posted as i saw fit... this offends you, since i'm not allowed to haha..
You are allowed to put your opinion anywhere. I was curious and I have not taken the policing to allow and disallow people to post their opinions.
i disagree... i think you take gret pleasue in this, which is why you behave this way... so this thing will continue. doesn't bother me, it's just how it is.
Behave in which way?
i've stated my case.. lolol.. continue.
dirk nowitski...
I didn't get you?
can't forget racist
Its a really strong opinion!!! On what basis would you say that?
Eastern Europeeans are notorious racists. Especially the polish
hmm I cannot say about entire "Polish" community but I remembered some of my friends were discriminated because of their skin color. The bus driver who was Polish asked them to take a seat in end of the bus and told that if they don't take the seat in end, he would not start the bus. Another time he checked the tickets of all the brown, black and Asian people but did not check tickets of white people. Another time he called my friend as a brown girl who needed to be put into washing machine to remove the dirt.
My boss made sure he was removed from the job!!
However we are talking about Germans here. Who are west Europeans.
Dude Germany is not eastern Europe it's Western or you can say west Europe at best... Ukraine, Czech Republic, Romania etc. are essentially eastern Europe.. and Germany is nowhere close to as racist as UK (which has played a major part in racism throughout the history) and Australia
correction: **you can say mid Europe at best
The only racist I see here is this hater making accusations. Your just jealous of them and need something to blame your problems on.
@PSIHEPA Jealous of racists? Lol this is a joke right?
Seriously!! I did not encounter any personal racism here in Germany.
You're commenting on the wrong country lol my polish friend also said that polish people are racists as fuck, but umm... I thiugh t we're talking about Germany here?
@TheDevilInside hahahahaha on the face... True that ;)
GERMANY IS NOT EASTERN Europe OMG WHAT
