What I got to know about Germans! Not pretty stereotypical right?

1. They are straightforward: No bullshit!

2. They love dairy products: Their stomach makes noise due to this. (Lactase problems) While Im in the office I hear other students making stomach sounds after coffee.

3. They blow their nose in public: The louder the better. I thought earlier that it was really funny and impolite at the same time. BUT it is logically fit to just remove all that shit from your nose rather than dragging it in.

4. They are tall and usually well built: Germans are blessed for genes of both the qualities. Also their sporty nature contributes a lot to well built physique. They love jogging, running, walking, biking, hiking, anything that says SPORT is exicting and fun activity for them.

5. German men are shy: I have dated and I know this very well. You need to approach them yourself. Yes girls mostly have a upper hand in approaching and it is considered perfectly fine.

6. They love their car: More than their wives. A car is a matter of pride for them. They prefer BMW over Audi anyday.

7. They are pretty much sporty: Well it gave me complex after I came to Germany thatI had so low stamina. I was not even able to jog a kilometer without stopping!! They have this regular habit of jogging/ running during summers. While in Germany, I saw some people jogging while raining (with raincoat obviously). They can jog anytime of day 6 am, 12pm, 4 pm, 8 pm, 12 am, 2 am. Also they just dont watch football but play it a lot.

8. Yes, they like being punctual: For them being punctual is arriving 5 minutes before the given time.

9. They love eating sweets: Yes they have sweet tooth. Even their default popcorns are sweet, covered with Caramel, Sugar or Chocolate.

10. Balanced lunch: From what I see in office daily they have really small piece of meat with cheese but also they have half of their plate filled with salad. The lunch is mostly warm and dinner is cold usually called as Abentbrot.

11. They just need a chance to drink beer!: Every festival they have in Germany is incomplete without giving BEER a special place. From Oktober fest to Carnival to love parade to Kölner Lichter to International Beer Festival. Beer can be taken during breakfast too. Try hot Gluhwein from Christmas markets if you visit Germany during time.

12. Do you speak English?: When in Germany dont ask "Do you speak English?" directly. Better ask "Do you understand English?" So always replace your "Sprechen Sie Englisch?" mit "Verstehen Sie Englisch?".

13. Say "Entschuldigung": Yes they say sorry and thank you are are really polite. Whether you step on someone foot or just brushed someone's arm while walking or if someone just opened the door for you. Say Thank you and sorry.

14. Men still open door for women here: The chivalery is well conversed among German men. I felt bitter when I was new here but one of my German guy friends told me that "We do not open the door you women because we consider them weak or inferior but because we consider them a shade better than us." So touched.

15. They are really good bikers: It is said that they learn cycling before they start speaking. All my professors here despite having cars, prefer using cycles.

16. Going Vegan is a trend here: Yes they love their currywurst but these days Veganism and Vegetarianism is taking over Germany specially Berlin. Every damn grocery shop would have a recipe book on how to cook vegan food.

Well there are many more points I can make but I'd stop here. I find them amusing in a good way.

I'm quarter German, live 5 minutes away from the border to Germany and even went to elementary and middle school there and for some reason I really don't get along with the typical German.
They are so cold and reserved and will judge everything and everybody that is different from their idea of the 'mainstream' – really makes life difficult for open-minded (and maybe also a little eccentric) people like me. I've also found many of them to be really jealous/envious – especially the teenagers: if someone gets more money or looks better than them they'll immediately start gossiping and spreading false rumors about that person and most people will just participate in that shit without even questioning the truth of said things.
That's just some typical personality traits I've found to be very common in Germans and that I really detest - it is true that they are usually very friendly towards foreigners/non-native speakers though so I'm not surprised you have such a positive impression of them.

When the girls stomach makes noise, it's mostly cause they don't eat, diet obsession (for nonsense).

Germans are not obsessed with cars, turks that live here do/germans rather have a nice living before they get a car.

Most men won't open the door for a girl, do that myself but it doesn't mean everyone would (girls even feel awkward when I do this, some don't step out and even wait me to go first).

Most educated people in german learn English at school, but only a few master it.

Not all of them are shy and not all of them are straightforward, those 2 you mentioned even contradict.

Last note: germans are not born racist, they turn into racists.
The whole immigration thingy can have impact (good or bad in it).
The most common groups of agressive people here are Turks (they act like a wolfpack), Arabs (same), russians (they will also be agressive without their group whenever they want) and those 3 are like fighting each other in some stupid street fights here. Usually germans flee when they are targeted cause in the end they are just nazis and it's ok if one of their friends comes back bloodfilled

I have only guys in the student room where I work apart from other non-german girl. So I hear mostly men's stomach making rumbling noises (It is because there are no German girls with computer science background in my department).

The men I have around me age from 25 and above. I have always found them opening the door but yes the younger ones did not. You are correct in terms of that age group.

Yes they learn English but the level of English taught is not cutting edge.

I remember going to one of the areas for shopping and it was night time (around 8:00 PM). A German police told me near the U-Bahn station that "Dont ever come to this area past afternoon please. The people living here are dangerous and even we won't be able to do anything if something happens to you." This were the literal words from police officer!!!

Other day I found a German was kind of verbally bullied by some one speaking Arabic. The guy was so scared. I asked my other female friend if we could do something. We went there and sat besides the guy who was sitting alone and was asked by those jerks to stand up. They stopped when they saw were talking to him.

I hope with the guilt of their history, they won't let others dominate them now!!

Some people even say that it's because Asians make the effort to integrate, whereas many turks and Arabs in Germany won't and even try to bring their own culture to Germany. - I love the directness and bluntness of the Germans. I'm back in Asia now and I feel like stepping on eggshells every day. Sucks bull balls.
- they love and are proud of their beer (deservedly so!)
- most of the modern and educated Germans are open minded, even if they have never travelled or gone outside of Germany. I can't say so about Asians.
- the Germans have a sense of humor that are could be different than for example Asian sense of humour. It definitely needs getting used to to be able to laugh alongside them.
- Germans could be considered "cold" towards strangers, but once you get in their "inner circles", they could be great friends. They just have some level of mistrust towards strangers. Although the young modern Germans are less so now.
- Germans don't just hold open the door for girls, they do it for everyone. It's just common courtesy for them. When I got back to Asia this is one of the many things I miss. I hate having the door shut in my face. Courteous as Asians are, why the fuck won't they hold the door if someone's walking behind them? OK, German doors are seriously heavy, and Asian doors are freaking light to open. Maybe that's why?
- I agree with German men being " shy". They're no Casanovas like Italians or middle easterners. They mostly just mind their own businesses, while looking hot.
- Germans love their Würste. Along with beer, they are deservedly proud of this. And despite the higher number of vegans, German men still love their meat. Right, @genericname85 ?
- Germans are very health conscious. Despite there being many smokers, they are somewhat conscious on what they put in their food. Healthy food can be found everywhere. Asians, in contrary, despite most of its population staying away from cigs and alcohol, eats tons of junk and chemicals and saturated fat and refined sugars.
- Germans have good work ethic. This is why they are one of the leading countries in the world.

After knowing some German friends, yeah most of this is true. Although, I know a couple that are smart enough to know Audi > BMW. I wouldn't say tall and well built are always true though. When Tim first came to America he was quite short and toned but still scrawny. After he joined our American football team he put a lot of muscle on. Also, many know English so well they'd prefer to speak it with you to show off for their friends, instead of hearing you speak German like scheiße.

I was referring to the 80s and 90s when Germany had an average team at best and yet still kept being successful simply because of other traits like doing the dirty work if it's necessary.

Asian here. When first arrived in Germany I was also shocked at people, especially old men blowing their nose like elephants lol I used to just hold it in until I could get to aa bathroom. Some don't take care of their animals and abuse them. Some of the men treat their women poorly. The women don't shave and both men & women stink from working in the farms and not bathing often. Others though are very kind and friendly and are very nice to talk to.

They do. Some Germans like to have one beer in the evening to wind down, not more. On the weekends or during parties or fest's they definitely drink more.

No no I didn't mean to offend. No Indian is actually a pure India because we were conquered by many many people. Munich may be better but not warmer than either of them. I had been to Paris... not easy to roam around in night unlike in Germany. Germany feels so safe. Munich would be cheap for you then haha.
I get German classes and benefits of German ex. Though I do not have good enough German skills. The sentence I wrote was pretty much easy.

I think your German is pretty decent, and yes this is the thing about Germany that I love, it is so damn chill and safe. I don't know why people are holding so many stereotypes against them just because they did some evil deeds decades back. I too need to attend some German classes though haha
