Thought Police: Our Once Great Bastion Of Free Speech Is Under Attack.

Humour (and opinion) become all but impossible in an era when noisy mobs of self-styled holders of correct opinions are myopically policing what we say. (The Telegraph)

I'm not sure whether everyone on GaG is familiar with the BAFTAS, but for those who aren't it stands for the independent charity British Academy of Film and Television Arts

Its ceremony occurs annually and encompasses the art forms of the moving image -- film, television and game in the United Kingdom, which it helps support, develop and promote.

Despite the many awards being handed out during the night to accomplished actors and actresses and the general splendour of the show, a rather large horde of self-righteous Twitter users resolved to accuse host Stephen Fry of "Misogyny" and "Sexism" following a rather sly comment:

"Only one of the great cinematic costume designers would come to the awards dressed like a 'bag lady.'" (Stephen Fry's comment towards Jenny Beavan, an award-winning English costume designer).

What's inconceivable is the fact that Beavan has made it clear that "Yes we are friends, and I am absolutely not upset" (Source)

Stephen Fry has now left Twitter.

What is becoming more and more conspicuous is that we are being oppressed by a harsh and authoritarian Left and a cohort of PC harpies.

It is no longer up to the person who received the joke to be offended, or in this case unoffended, it's up to the sanctimonious.

Fact is you can't be funny anymore, unless you filter what you say and make it as Politically Correct as possible. Nor can you share your own controversial opinion online or at University or you'll suffer much like Milo Yiannopoulos did this week.

My final thoughts:

So long as we keep our heads in the sand and allow the regressive left to contain our beliefs and opinions, Freedom of Speech and the "freedom of being" will continue to dwindle. It is up to us to counter and remove this unpalatable jurisdiction. Do not bow down and capitulate to the Regressive Left - stand up for your rights.

I ask you... how did you find Stephen Fry's comment?

What are your thouhts on Stephen Fry leaving Twitter?

Political Correctness is damaging our Freedom of Speech. Discuss.
