1) Stonehenge
Stonehenge remains shrouded in mystery. There are hundreds of myths and legends surrounding the prehistoric monument ,and the 300 Bronze Age burial mounds which are situated around the monument. Various people have attributed the monument to the Romans, Danes, Greeks, Saxons, , Atlanteans, Egyptians, Phoenicians Celts, Merlin, King Aurelius Ambrosious,and even Aliens. Stonehenge is situated in Wiltshire, England ,and it was built at a time of particularly intense religious and political rivalry.It is believed that Stonehenge was built by the Druids,and that the high -ranking priests of the Celts constructed it for sacrificial ceremonies. The monument was constructed in several stages:between 3000 and 2000 B.C. spanning the Neolithic Period to the Bronze Age.The first stones erected at the site had been chipped away by ancient people, perhaps to use as talismans for protective or healing purposes.
2) HM Tower Of London
The Tower of London is a 900-year-old castle and fortress in central London, founded by William the Conqueror towards the end of 1066. The Tower of London has served many purposes, including royal residence, , armory,barracks , prison and now a museum. It is most notable for housing the Crown Jewels to the British Monarchy, including the crowns worn by the monarch at the coronation and at the opening of Parliament. Throughout its history the tower was used to imprison a wide range of prisoners,from deposed monarchs to more common criminals. Prisoners included , Guy Fawkes, who was imprisoned in the tower and tortured, because of his attempt to blow up the House of Lords and the Monarch , by detonating gunpowder in the cellars below in 1605.
3) White Scar Cave
White Scar cave is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.It is the longest show cave in Britain, at more than 100 metres long and up to 30 metres high. You can visit underground streams , waterfalls, and the massive ice age cavern.The guided tour takes 80 minutes and covers one mile. The cave was created by the action of carbon dioxide rich water dissolving limestone deposits. It now contains weird and wonderful formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The local area around White Scar Cave has a wide variety of attractions, activities and natural scenery. You can also visit the Ingleton water falls , trails and Ribblehead viaduct
4) Loch Ness
Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands . It is the second largest Scottish loch .Loch Ness serves as the lower storage reservoir for the Foyers pumped-storage hydroelectric scheme, which was the first of its kind in the United Kingdom. Loch Ness is most famous for the "Nessie"-The Loch Ness Monster . I'd suggest visiting The Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition is which is a State-of-the-art exhibition which opened over 30 years ago. 5) Edinburgh

The Forbidden Corner is situated at the eastern side of the Yorkshire Dales. Eden Camp is housed in an original Prisoner of War Camp,and was developed into a museum by local businessman Stan Johnson, to stand as a tribute to all people, civilian and military, who endured hardship throughout World War Two
9) Beamish Museum
Beamish is a world famous living, working open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s & 1940s. It is set in 300 acres of beautiful countryside. Original and replica buildings, working vehicles and many artefact's alongside livestock and people in character from the period who bring to life the Town, Pit Village,and Home Farm. You can take a trip down the pit , and taste delicious bread, cakes and biscuits which are baked using traditional Edwardian recipes.
Beamish has always been a firm favourite with television and film makers,because it's steeped in history with spectacular landscape and locations. Beamish appeared in the last ever episode of Downton Abbey and Dark Angel- to name just two . Most of the Catherine Cookson series of films were also shot there
