The only thing that makes me happy is alcohol? How do I cope? I'm usually only happy at least a little when I drink. I lcr drinking and that's all I want to do

You need to get into recovery (for the alcoholism) and therapy for your depression.

If you had shattered the bones in your leg, you wouldn't just ignore the problem and try to hobble around on one leg, would you? No, you'd go to the doctors and get treatment. Your conditions are more mental than physical, but they are still ailments that require treatment if you hope for them to get better, and there is no shame in needing or getting help.

You are likely genetically predisposed to alcohol addiction (do you have alcoholics in your family?), and in that case, once you start drinking, it tends to take over your life. You THINK it makes you happy, but you don't realize, until it's too late, that it's actually making your entire life much more miserable, except when you are drunk enough that you can't feel the misery. That's not happiness, it's anesthesia, and it WILL kill you at an early age if you don't stop. Alcohol ages you and destroys your liver, and if cirrhosis doesn't get you, something else will because your whole body and immune system is weakened.

You aren't alone - the world is full of people who feel like you do, and it's not your fault, but it IS your responsibility to get treatment. Hopefully you do so before you hurt yourself or someone else, which WILL happen sooner or later if left untreated.

You don't cope. You learn.

You learn to live without alcohol. You can enjoy it- but in moderation.

IF YOU ABUSE ALCOHOL

You will lose the ability and right to drink it, when you,

A. Get divorced
B. Lose your kids
C. lose your transportation
D. Lose your friends

You will lose *everything* if you give in to alcohol. But I do not believe you should be such a slave to it that you must never touch another drop.

It is possible to need it... But also consume it in moderation.

I have a myriad of issues including depression that I have struggled with pretty much all of my natural life. I do NOT take prescription drugs of any kind.

Sometimes it is good for me to drink some beers (Usually 1-3) or do some shots (usually 1-3) to take the edge off. Yeah, it's self medicating, but I'd rather use liquor than some pharmaceutical drug that will mess me up way worse.

I have learned to live this way for years. Yeah, there was a time when I was abusing alcohol, but I stopped. I began to use it in moderation.

And yeah. Pretty much the only time I really happy is when I got a buzz going. So don't think that you're the only one.

I can't stop drinking or let go of the thought of alcohol. That's all I think of

If you are unable to stop drinking, and yes, I believe you do have the willpower, then you must either continue on the path of destruction, or seek help. GOD is a good help! AA is also a great place to share your pain with others. No matter what you do- do something. You cannot continue this way.
