Why do women get free admission into clubs and bars, but men have to pay a cover?

So basicall, the entire bar/club industry depends on this marketing tactic? So if we made it equal less people would go to bars and people would have to meet in everyday life? People would have to find real dates and not get drunk every weekend?

It depends on what you mean by 'sexist'. 'Sexist' is one of those words that get thrown around.

I'm happy for businesses to be allowed to discriminate how ever they want, whether that means women benefit or men benefit or whatever.

The reason that bars/clubs do that is not to screw men over. What reason would a business have to do something simply to piss off some of its customers? The reason they charge different prices is because men are more likely to go than women. If they charged the same price, it would be a sausage fest and the men would get pissed off. By giving deals to women, they attract more women than they otherwise would, and therefore there's more of a gender balance.

Simple supply and demand, really. It's sexist in a way, but not really in a bad way. Getting in free gives women an incentive to go, and having women gives men an incentive to go. If there were little to no women, men would complain about that a lot more than having to pay a small cover charge.

I wouldn't consider it any more sexist than getting my hair cut cheaper than a woman.

It's a marketing strategy. Because 90% of guys only go to bars & ESPECIALLY clubs just to meet girls. The more girls at a club, the guys probably won't give a shit if they have to pay or not. No guy wants to be at a sausage fest. lol
