Seriously hipsters, what is your obsession with irony?

Seriously. Why is irony so cool? it makes no sense.

Hipster culture is sort of the end game of an ever increasing desire to view only niche things as cool, and mainstream as bad. That idea has run through a lot of cultures, and this is sort of the ultimate expression of it.

This is why apart from a few isolated teens on the internet who don't know any better, nobody actually admits to being a hipster, which is why hipsters get made fun of with nobody pushing back. If anything they like becomes too popular they have to jump off the bandwagon.

Only irony is safe, because it doesn't express a genuine like for anything. Irony is safe, because you can say 'ha ha, i'm being ironic, i, of course, know this is not cool'.

Nothing is cool enough so irony is the only safe harbor.
