Men were the hunters and protectors because they were stronger, not the other way around.
Evolution is a trade off. Women can only have hips a certain width because we walk on two feet, as a result of which our children have to be born premature compared to other species, considering their big head (brain). The trade off there is that higher intelligence and walking on two feet makes up for a child that doesn't even start walking until it's a year old
Anyways, why are men stronger is not an easy answer. But if you look at other species you could assume that men are stronger because they have physically compete with each other to get a mate, women didn't.
Also some scientist believes women developed to differentiate from men so it makes them more likely to protect us than eat us. Such as facial, which clearly an advantage to have but women don't have it. Theory is that not having it makes you look more like children, which makes men feel less like killing you. Height and strength could be much the same
All of this speculative though. The only sure answer to your question why are men stronger is because stronger men have reproduced and weaker women have reproduced10 Reply

It has a lot to do with our primate ancestors. In some species, males were larger for protection, but that isn't even most of it.
Females didn't have to be large. Larger males survived/procreated better because they were big enough to overpower other males.
So the bigger, stronger, more aggressive males produced the most offspring, so those traits increased in the male population.
With it, of course, females got somewhat larger too, because female offspring would happen, but small females survived/reproduced just as well as the larger ones, so they maintained some of their daintiness.00 Reply

Not all men are stronger than women but one thing that is hard with which to argue is that puberty causes the male's shoulders to broaden and hands to grow which gives him more strength simply because of physics. At the same time, though, puberty causes the female's hips to widen thus strengthening the lower center of gravity which can contribute greatly to a woman's strength. As far as strength, we're all pretty equal.

Sexual dimorphism (males and females having different physique/appearance) is very common, especially in birds and mammals. And normally it is for reproductive reasons. Sometimes they lean strongly for territory and protection though.
Biologically speaking, we've only recently become more than just animals.10 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWe have much more testosterone production than women. It is also known that our bodies store more muscle in key areas like the biceps, triceps, legs, etc. while women store more fat in areas like the buttocks.
It still doesn't mean women can't be strong though.01 Reply

+1 yI believe women can be just as strong as men. However for a lot of them they choose to accept their femininity which comes from the conditioning of cartoons. Like the sleeping beauty. However I don't believe evolution has anything to do with this. Yes it may of contributed little but it doesn't say how strong one will be. Generally and genetically we do have a bigger muscle masses on average but I wouldn't say its a huge huge difference.

It is a pretty huge difference though, and evolution got so much to do with it.

It's not that big of a difference tbh. The strength levels of men vary more widely than they do with a female. There a females who choose to accept the submissive role. But in all truth females have that ability to become just as strong.

The world's strongest woman can't beat an average guy at arm wrestling. Sorry to disappoint you. They also have slower reaction time and no amount of practice can compensate.

Nonsense. www.sciencevsfeminism.com/.../
'Men have about 90% greater upper-body strength and about 65% greater lower-body strength: the average man is stronger than 99.9% of women.'
'in terms of hand-grip strength, 90% of heavily trained female athletes produce less force than 95% of untrained males.'
The difference is massive. - +1 y
I said on average dude. Men can't produce twice as much strength as females, thats an exaggeration. Females can produce similar force if they're lifestyle didn't deprive them of it. Furthermore if you are comparing you have to compare weight, height and environmental differences too. Men may be stronger but if it's a controlled test the results won't produce a major difference.
Because before any laws that made women equal to men, Men used to hunt and fight bears with their bear hands :3 and provided the food while the women stay indoors taking care of the offspring and now that everything is being handed done for us we are now slowly turning into limp bitches for example Hipsters, Emos , scene kids etc.

Laws still didn't make us equal to men physically.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 ySexual dimorphism.
Female hormones prepare them for childbirth. Eg. Breasts, wider hips, extra fat, ovulation cycle, etc..
Male hormones prepare them for combat/hunting. Eg. Taller, wider shoulders, extra muscle.
The sexes have different biological roles in our species.10 ReplyIt's just biology. That doesn't mean you have to be weak. You can workout and become very strong. Being a girl doesn't automatically bar you from being strong.

ok seriously, it's just anatomical differences wherein men have a greater muscle mass than women do. this is in general of course.00 Reply6.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Because we were designed for far more tougher jobs then women, war, exploration, construction, mining, intense physical labor, it's just the way god made us.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yBecause I primate species (which include humans) the females are the ones who take care of the children while the males are the ones who go hunt and are the ones who protect their families. The males are built more to hunt and defend while females are built more to take care of children.
This was really a flip of the evolutionary coin, for all we know in an alternate universe the males are weaker and care for the children and the mothers go out hunting while they aren't pregnant.00 ReplyEvolution. Men were meant to be hunters and gatherers, women stayed at home and raised the kids. But since we're in the future now, we buy everything we need. :V
