+1 yGenerally speaking, it's because we're a sexually dimorphic species (that is, we have two forms based on sex). We are specialized. Because humans are barely physically adapted to survive at all, and because our gestation period is so long, protecting the females is of utmost importance. And because women's pregnancy debilitates them so much (with re: to hunting), men must make up the gap.
Since protecting females is so important, then nature no longer selects for strength in women. But it does select for strength in men.
As for pull-ups in particular, this one is special. Something about the layout of muscles and bone structure differences between men and women, women have an especially hard time doing pull-ups and chin-ups. In this case, it's not really about strength, but about the way, I think, our torso muscles are laid out.00 Reply

+1 yOne word:
Testosterone.
This sex hormone is present in both sexes but determines the form and behavior of men. Among many other things, it is responsible for enabling the formation of large masses of muscle.
When a transgendered person undergoes testosterone replacement therapy, 'his' female body gets tranformed.
- hair grows over the body
- voice deepens
- facial hair grows
- capacity for dominance/aggression increases
and...
- it becomes physically possible to accumulate muscle mass, beyond what could happen when influenced by estrogen.61 Reply- +1 y

326 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. You just need to work out, they probably do some sort of physical activity. No matter what gender, a fit person will always be able to do more pull ups than a couch potato.
There was a girl in my school who could hold a plank longer than any of the guys because she worked damn hard on her body and had rock hard abs it was crazy. It's a reflection of how much hard work you are willing to put into your fitness. I think blaming it on your gender is just an excuse to not try. I've beaten up guys a fact I am not proud of but I was tired of being groped and sexually harassed by this one boy in particular so I whipped around one day after finally snapping and broke his nose. He squirted nose blood on me, I would not recommend it.

Women build muscle much slower than men due to the hormonal differences between them (testosterone facilitates muscle gain). However, that isn't to say that women will always be inherently weaker physically than men. A woman who trains can be as strong or stronger than a man who doesn't. In terms of physical ability, your average person is pretty on par with everyone else.

Women are so much physically weaker than men yet men fall to their knees and whimper if kicked in the nuts whereas women withstand child birth which can literately rips our genitals? Hmmm.

@the_champ Not every valid statement that makes a point has to be an argument.
- +1 y
@the_champ If you would like me to enlighten you so that you can yap away on my post trying to invalidate and dismiss the truthful fact that men can be weaker then women in various ways, then no. I'm in a great mood and I am not interested in defensive men defensively yapping endlessly on my post because they'd like to believe that men are stronger.
- +1 y
@the_champ Do some conductive reasoning of your own.
- +1 y
I have been very concise. I don't know why you'd infer I'd be yapping. You are 'yapping endlesssly' more then me. I don't believe men are stronger, I know they are, it's a fact, sweetheart. Why do women fall to their knees and whimper when they get punched in the chest but men can withstand it? Hmmm. Imminent block incoming.
- +1 y
@the_champ No, I'm not "endlessly yapping". I'm being straightforward and getting to the point of your undertone and the vibe you're putting out on my post. There are plenty of men who fall to their knees and can't take a punch, honey. There are also plenty of women who can take more than a punch, myself being one of them. If you truly believe in that nonsense, then your ignorant mouth is not welcomed on my post and I won't put up with your arrogant, condescending belittling of women.
- +1 y
@the_champ Especially considering that you don't even have an answer of your own yet choose to invite yourself to mind and run your mouth with your belittling remarks. I don't know who you think you are sweetheart but I don't owe you my energy and focus.
- +1 y
@the_champ "Why do women fall to their knees and whimper when they get punched in the chest but men can withstand it?" This is a belittling comment and if you can't see why then you need to get off my post and get into a therapist's office. The fact is that your desire to spread bad vibes and conduct yourself like a catty preteen fishing for drama will not be tolerated on my posts. I don't have to prove anything to you, darling and I'm thrilled for you to be absent from my posts in the future.

+1 ymostly cause they dont fucking bother. i mean all men platoons score much higher than coed platoons during evaluations in the army. is it because they suck at it biologically, or because some fuckwad passed them when they didn't deserve it to fill some kind of affirmative action quota? i'd opt for the latter because i prefer not to think of them as biologically inferior, but that still means they're making choices that will get a lot of good men killed. dead weight is dead weight, i dont care if its politically incorrect, one weak link and you're all dead. outside of the military it might be lower stakes but its the same principle, if no one really expects you to excel and they pass you solely on virtue of your vagina then you dont deserve that and you're bringing down the people around you

+1 yTwo things:
1.) Women naturally have less testosterone than males, because that's what the testicles generate.
2.) Women are typically told that they are physically weaker, and they accept this, rather than start exercising and have muscles of their own. While males start at a clear advantage in this regard, that doesn't mean women are biologically inclined to be incapable.41 Reply- +1 y

media.giphy.com/media/3nI4DTtOQfd28/giphy.gif20 ReplyMaybe weaker physically but I think tougher. We couldn't handle childbirth
1370 Reply- +1 y
Not a chance in hell. Everyone falls back on childbirth as the reason why women are "tougher" and yeah I wouldn't want to push a child out through my dick hole, but guys get into more fights in their lives, get hurt more often, and are taught from a young age to always bounce back. The only real fights women get into are with words and social standing, they can bounce back because all they need is to follow a plan to get back on top of the social group they're in and punish the girl that beat her down before. Men on the other hand are expected to be back to 100% physically sooner than physically possible; we're told that if we break a bone that it will take 6 weeks to heal and probably closer to 6 months to be back to 100%. It is so expected of us to bounce back from that injury quicker than normal, we make it a challenge to ourselves to recover in a month or two sooner doing more than we did before the injury by the time we're supposed to be fully healed.

@rjroy3 honestly i think women think too high of themselves nowadays saying men have no chivalry now you tell me back in the 20's and 50's werent the wives an women beaten for talkin back to men? an now i see women gettin all up in a guys face for no reason but when she hits him and he hits back he is the bad guy?

@GnarCute Lol noooo. I am in control at all times, if you know what I mean. In case you don't though... I control my own emotions (period or not). I am not weak. I get respect everywhere I go because I demand it, as well as give it back to those that deserve it. I don't cry over stupid shit. I don't let men run over me, tell me what to do, or disrespect me. I give women confidence. I thrive in everything I do. I am working on my independence. I don't let breakups break me. I am not a man hater, why do I need to be :/. I have LOTS of respect for men (that respect me of course). BUT I ALSO have LOTS of respect for women (that respect me of course). See what I did there? It's called... FAIRNESS

- +1 y
@GnarCute LMAO are you fucking kidding me? You're here in your little comment section saying how women are weak. Too emotional which is very damn sad. How women think 'too high of themselves' as if we strong women are supposed to settle for less and have no wants because according to you having anything is better than being back in the 20's and 50's. Saying how women are hitting men than think they aren't supposed to hit them back. Where tf did you get this? You forgot the word "SOME" as in NOT ALL. Not all women do that so what you're saying is stupid. Then you had the nerve to say "weren't the wives and women beaten for talking back to men?" as if that was normal. Bitch you need help. Know what, maybe you should live in those days where you was basically dirt since you'll seem to fit right on in

- +1 y
Haha whatever. You're a sexist
- +1 y
Not really, men have a much higher threshhold for pain then women. The fact is a man whent to war, he fought to the death against his enemies, his food, his opponents. The jaw and cheek bones specificly are denser in men then women because the moment we could walk upright we freed our hands up to strik eachother in the face (yes we actually evolved to be punched in the face with minimal damage). In all situations a man had to be able to maintain functionality of both body and mind in order to survive, a woman does not need to do that for child birth. Further more its an unfair comparison because a womans body is specificly designed to give birth to children a mans is not. If a mans body was designed that way then it would be no different.
- +1 y
@CapricornSwagL What gnarcute is saying is actually factually accurate. The reason you hate being a woman is because you're ashamed of having done these things too. You can't take a punch, you can't take falling down a set of stairs, you sure as hell couldn't take a crash at 35mph from 20 feet in the air on a pair of skis. I on the otherhand have taken everyone one of those and laughed them off, gone leg first into a tree at full tilt and laid on the ground not reveling in pain but reveling in the reality that my buddy would be at the bottom of the hill laughing his ass off at me for breaking my leg while the ski patrol brings me down on a sled. I've taken falls from 20 feet and just acted like it was intentional. You couldn't fall from above the ground and get up and act like you were okay.
- +1 y
@hellionthesage Dude I am not disagreeing. To me no one pain is greater than the other. All pain is pain. My argument was her being a woman hater while being a woman herself which I don't understand. I'll understand why a man would be sexist but not a woman
- +1 y
@Gommers Lmao mad? I am not mad. I find her funny. Why would I be mad :/
- +1 y
@Gommers If the "No, we didn't. Jobs, families, and societies placed those expectations on us." comment was directed to me
I dont believe men are made for that. I don't treat my boyfriend like he's my provider. We're in this relationship together. No one is better than the other - +1 y
@CapricornSwagL
It wasn't directed at you, it was directed at the original commenter that said men put the pressure on themselves, and we don't. It's not about you, it's about everything around us, maybe you're a good one but I don't know I haven't seen enough posts to know if you're just an idealistic teen or someone that actually tastes the shit as it leaves your lips. The real problem is that men and women can't possibly understand the pain experienced by the other gender, my guess is that you have as much of an idea of what it's like to pop your shoulder out of socket so many times that the only time dislocation hurts is when your setting the shoulder back in the socket; you probably understand that pain about as well as I understand the pain of child birth. Biology is different and society expects different things from different genders. Men aren't socially able to leave the work force until they've been hurt so bad they can never return; a woman can just by having a child. - +1 y
@Gommers And how tf is her leaving to have her child bad again? And first of all I am not idealistic. I am very realistic. All that fairy tail love shit means nothing to me. I don't even believe in real life so the 'tastes of shit as it leaves my lips' is maybe for yourself or some other person.

@CapricornSwagL "" I'll understand why a man would be sexist but not a woman""
What the hell is THAT supposed to mean. - +1 y
@GnarCute "now you tell me back in the 20's and 50's werent the wives an women beaten for talkin back to men?" No, they where not. In fact harming a woman was a very seriuos crime then as it is now (a woman harming her husband however, while having little social/legal repurcussions now, was even worse for the man since he would be publicly humiliated for being a being "henpecked" a term used to insult him further by implying it was insignificant) A man would be publicly flogged for harming a woman if not out right lynched. Look at any story, who is the bad guy? The one who mistreats a woman. Who is the good guy? The one who treats a woman well. No matter what the story is (modern or a fairy tale) you can distinguish a good man from bad by how he treats women which is an extention of social expectations of male behavior.
- +1 y
@Mesonfielde It's not hard to understand. Sexist men hate women because they feel superior to us, think we're trash, and should be in kitchen. It''s understandable because men always hated women. Thought we was lower than dirt, it's nothing new. So when a man is sexist, it's understandable
As for women though, she should know better, she should know that hating women makes her look stupid. We already aren't treated fairly and be be against women is crazy. We have to support each other not turn your back on women for men that hates us. Doesn't make sense unless you like being treated like baby machine
@GnarCute LMAO I find it funny how you erased your rude comments to me to make it seem like I started attacking you for NO reason. Lol too funny. How did you do that? I'm really curious. Plus erasing my comments when I made you look stupid by breaking it down on how you're a sexist. How did you do that? - +1 y
@CapricornSwagL Stating a fact is not the same as putting women down. To give women credit where it is not due is pandering and a disservice to women. Do you feel the same way about how men are represented in our society? That its sad that giving any positive (or even nuetral) acknowledgement to males is viewed as an attack on women?
- +1 y
@CapricornSwagL actually, that was me, it is kinda my job to remove posts with nothing but blatant antagonism; but I removed the previous comment too as it was a reply to that one and that was also just calling each other "stupid birches" and the like :pp I think I removed like 3-3 comments each. Might have been 4. But it was an equal count.
Anyways, I can't really relate to sexist men and I don't see why their behavior is understandable, it is a disgrace and a proof of the ignorance of our culture regarding social relations between genders due to segregation that this nonsense type of thinking still exists. Anyways, thanks for elaborating, I won't jump to support either side at the moment. - +1 y
@CapricornSwagL " I'll understand why a man would be sexist but not a woman" this statement itself is sexist. The implication that men are inherintly sexists and mistreat women (unfounded/unprovable, in fact the opposite has been proven through out all of history) but women can not. This is sexism, what @GnarCute stated was a simple fact, one thats been proven multiple times. You then insulted her and men (and by proxy women) by suggesting acknowledgment of an inability of women (in general), or the ability of men (in general) was a direct attack on women. Claiming women are not perfect that they cannot do everything isn't sexist, its fact. Men also have qualities and abilities and to refuse to acknowledge them is sexist. It insults women by proxy by suggesting they are so weak minded/ignorant/stupid or have such fragile egos that they cannot acknowledge a well documented fact for fear of feeling inferior when they are not the one in the spot light. Its insulting all around.
- +1 y
@hellionthesage She didn't state facts. I would tell you to go down and read my comment on how she's sexist but I guess she removed it. Stating how women are weak, NOT some but women as in... women is sexist. She didn't state how some men was weak because she was too busy saying how we're all too emotional and can;t handle breakups. Dont know where she got that from but she seemed really confident in her wrongness.
I never said giving acknowledgement to men are attacking women. If they say "SEE men are wayyy better than women, look at this acknowledgement". That would be sexist - +1 y
@Mesonfielde Erasing someone's comments is stupid af especially when they made good points. Maybe I should start erasing comments for the hell of it. Since it's fun. Plus what did our conversation have to do with you :/. Yup I'm definitely gonna start erasing comments for fun
- +1 y
@CapricornSwagL A man being a provider does not mean superiority. Its a fair exchange of goods, the male gives resources the woman gives emotional intimacy and the right to reproduce. That is a fair exchange and at no point where women treated inferior, in fact through out all of history women where treated better then men, not unlike today. @reptocarl @Gommers A males skin is thicker then a womans, his bones denser, and he has a greater quantity of muscle all of which makes them more physically resilient. Even beyon that males are physiologicly more resilient to paint then women as has been proven scientificly many many times: abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=97662&page=1

@hellionthesage And how the heck is my statement sexist? There's no surprise when a men is sexist. That's a fact. I'm not gonna walk around thinking every man can not be sexist. That's very unrealistic. Plus most of the world is religious meaning sexist. Everything else you said I do not care to explain. I am tried of explaining the same thing
- +1 y
@CapricornSwagL "And how the heck is my statement sexist? There's no surprise when a men is sexist. That's a fact. I'm not gonna walk around thinking every man can not be sexist. That's very unrealistic." and yet have no issue presuming women are not? Every part of your statement is sexist and if you really where objective you would see that immediatly. Again with the refusal to explain. Do not confuse unwilling with unable, they are two very different things.
- +1 y
@hellionthesage Well I don't believe that. I don't believe men are supposed to be providers and I don't believe women are just baby makers and 'emotional support'. Women are doing bigger things than being some good o housewife
- +1 y
@hellionthesage What are you talking about? I never said women can't be sexist but your definition and probably most males definition of a sexist woman is "wanting equal rights". And supposedly if we want to take care of ourselves we're man haters
- +1 y
@hellionthesage Also when I talk about being surprised when women are sexist/can't be sexist, I am talking about being sexist TOWARD women not men. THAT'S crazy. I now women can be sexist towards towards men also. Never denied it
