That is fucking stupid as hell. No. Tanning is natural that's why your body can do it because its a biological response not a cultural one. Also how would it be cultural? Seriously how? Also cultural appropriation exists in all groups in fact their is not one culture that doesn't have parts of its culture "appropriated" from another. That's how cultures evolve. The very notion is meant to guilt trip people almost always white, into groveling at the feet of others. Black culture in America is appropriated from whites, in fact the southern accent in America is actually originated in England, as did most "soul food". If your worried about cultural appropriation stop wearing pants stop using modern medicine (western medicine i. e. a school of thought created by Europeans) stop pretty much everything you do because you will never ever function without having absorbed an idea or practice that some one else has done. God I love how so many groups who claim to want every one to be unified create ideas that push us all apart. So fucking stupid.

Is an African sitting in the shade appropriating European culture? Of course not, so neither is a European soaking up some vitamin D appropriating African culture. Heck, even if it was appropriating, why should it matter? We should all strive to adopt the best things about what were historically other cultures.

No. Although it does get annoying when my white friends get spray tans and then compare their skin to my skin and say "we're pretty much the same color now!". No bitch, you're orange and I'm brown. Spray tans look awful in my opinon. Natural tans from the sun are ok as long as you don't have crazy tan lines. Most spray tans make you look orange though, like Donald Trump. It's not cultural appropriation because all people tan naturally in the sun. I don't see why people don't just embrace their paleness.

NO I'm as pale as a ghost and the sun only gives me moles and sunburns so I'm gonna keep using sunscreen. And no way am I gonna start wasting my time with self tanner. I have enough other things to do. And I don't like the look of leathery orange Oompa Loompa skin. Anyone who says pale skin is gross can go crawl in a ditch and poop in their pants.

Cultural appropriation is bullshit that stupid people make up to cause drama. It wasn't even a thing until this year. Wearing a sari to a costume party is not making fun of a culture it is embracing it. Get a tan if you want , who cares. Literally so many things that we own and use come from different cultures.

Haha I used to tan more easily when I was in elementary school, or thereabouts! Especially during the summers when I would go swimming a lot. Since I was so young I didn't care too much about my appearance either way lol, but I thought having the tan was pretty cool. But now apparently tanning comes harder for me. =/ My skin seems to skip the tan, and go straight to the burn. xD

Not necessarily. While, yes, the old view of fair skinned individuals being the standard of beauty, I think that the introduction of tanning was as a result of cultural progression, not appropriation.
