It's not important, but I do like to be taned
Not unless you want to possibly get skin cancer/melanoma some time in the future. Not only that your skin will age faster and you will have rubbery and stretchy skin by the time you are 45 from sun damage.
The sun's ultraviolet (UV) light can damage the layers of the skin. Over time, this damage shows up as sagging, stretched, wrinkled skin.
In most people, freckles are normal and do not pose a health risk. They may appear more prominent after exposure to the sun. However, some early stage cancers may resemble freckles. See a doctor if a freckle has an unusual size, shape, or color, or becomes painful.
Helps that I'm naturally a darker skin tone, don't really need a tan but even though I do get tan lines, no one seems to mind.
I could be butt naked with major tan lines and no one cares. If someone doesn't like how I look, they have the freedom to not look.

Some people look good with a tan, (as long as it's natural, the Oompa Loompa-like the Orange Cheeto look doesn't look good on anyone) others look better with pale skin.
I personally don't like it on myself and I'm concerned with aging, so I wear and re-apply sunscreen often, when I'm outdoors, hat, sunglasses and try to limit unnecessary exposure between 12-3 in the summer, when the sun rays' are more burning
no. yes so that I don't burn as easily when I'm out, I don't care what others think. being light colored has it's realities.
Sun does a lot of damage. I've seen these young ladies tan like sun goddesses for hours when I was a kid... back when the fluid in the bottle was called "tanning oil" not sunscreen. They look "weathered" in middle age. Smart girls wear hats and don't bake their skin. Maybe girls really like fried chicken and want to be like one?
Is it important? Not even REMOTELY. Is it nice? Eh, I guess? I mean, unless you live somewhere w/ year ‘round sunny weather, you have to start tanning SOMETIME, and would I feel like a complete loser because I haven’t had an opportunity to get out and do some sunbathing until now, when everyone else already HAS a tan? No! Not even for a FRACTION of a second! I’d just be grateful to be lying on the beach, getting some sun.
Even though I'm over 80% Irish ancestry, I inherited good skin that tans very well. I spent much of my life as brown as a berry.
But I have to say that I don't care for dark tans on women. It can make their delicate skin look leathery. And it takes its toll over time.
A light golden tan can be very attractive and healthy looking. But boobs and other parts need to stay milky white. 😉
I'm confused by the phrase 'public consumption'. Aside from that, people should do what makes them feel comfortable in their own skin. Just watch out for skin cancer. It can get really nasty, really quickly and it's cost both my mother and myself a friend each. So please be vigilant for your loved ones.
A tan is not remotely important. To tan activate Melitonin in our shin. And Melitonin is aging to our skinn. There have been tests on twins for this, on that tanned and one that staid away from getting tann. The tanned looked a lot older then the non tanned.
Had a lot of sun exposure here in California, AND also see a lot of skin cancer from the surfers here. I found early that much sun exposure is very hard on your skin and my older brother has had some very severe skin cancer surgeries as a result of his OVER exposure and tanning.
I was a dumbass in my late teens and used to go to a tanning bed in the summer.. I hope to God I don't develop skin cancer. Now I gradually tan like a shrimp b/c of yard work, gardening, walking my dog, leisure activities, and work.
I am just pastie white enough that I don't tan, I burn. So it's not important to me. Mostly because I'm willing to go through the red as a freshly boiled lobster phase to get a tan or even attempt to get one.
Nah I'll happily keep my pale skin. When I was a kid I use to get made fun of for being so white but now I've learned to embrace it.
Being fair skinned, I am more concerned about not burning. We’re fairly heavy sunscreen users because of the amount of time my hubby spends outside and because of my fair skin.
I could care less but generally I pick up a moderate tan in general
My dad works on the land in the summer and picks up such a tan that he is only a gold watch and a trophy wife away from being a yacht based tax exile in the Mediterranean
Nope! Don't Care, i don't sun bathe no do any kind of tans, not my thing. I take a quick swim, towel and then t shirt, hat, viola! All of me still white, no burns, no tan.
eh, if you are as sexy as these women then dose it even matter? Your fucking head could be on fire and no one would notice or care so long as you continued to stand there looking hot.
A tan looks is nice but not necessary.
Also there is a difference between tanned and orange, which, looks ridiculous.
I get tanned just from the drive from work to home.
I really don't care about tan. My skin doesn't tan anyway because it's naturally veryyy pale, so why risk skin cancer?
