First of all I'd like to clarify that I don't believe in any racial theories and despise Hitler and his ideas. But I just want to figure out the truth about South Europeans and their intolerance towards migrants.
Latin Americans are often classified as Hispanic and not White, but what about Spaniards and Italians? They have the same phenotype as most Latin Americans!
Here we can see that Italians have a substantial West Asian admixture. Wow, just look a that, Italians and Spaniards have the same Red sea admixture as Syrians and Turks! They are genetically close to Arabs and Berbers! Spaniards and Sicilians even have African admixture in them.
Let's take a look at some typical Italians and Spaniards. Italians: If this guy had no flag I'd think he is African American actually. Spaniards:
Before asking this question I thought that Italians were whiter than Spaniards, because Spain was ruled by Africans for several centuries. But they instead turned out to be darker than Spaniards. They don't resemble Romans at all! Augustus Roman dictator Sulla
So what happened to them? Are the Italians and Spaniards really descendants of slaves and muslims and not Celts and Romans? Why are they then so intolerant towards migrants if they don't differ from them?
Like Kkaos said, white and black isn't really a race as it is increeeedibly broad when you think about the variations of skin colours, bone structures and hair and eye colours there are among them. Europeans from around the Mediterranean are historically mixed. Many of them have had Celtic and Roman and Greek history. The thing is though that Roman Empire stretched all the way to the Middle East so it's no surprise they've had some kind of mixing going on, exactly the same thing why you might find blondes and blue eyed people in Turkey. These people have for a long time been involved with the other countries along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea so of course some of them might look similar to berbers or middle easterners at times. And Muslims did rule Spain, Sicily, Greece to Albania and few other Eastern European countries for many centuries. To me it's pretty easy to tell if someone is Spanish/Greek/Italian because to me they don't generally look like the average Swede or Northern European. Europeans really don't look the same lol, I don't know where people get that from.
The one after the soccer player is Diego he is Gitano ( Spanish gypsy) who is a flamenco artist. Gypsies are middle eastern, indian and european. You need to educate yourself a lot if you think that soccer player looks black What existed in south America before the european colonies? Indians whom originally came from asia. The europeans brought over slaves black and gypsy. So how would hispanics be white? Most of the hispanic culture is influenced directly by African culture.
But in the end of the day race isn't real. We are just humans with mixed ethnics that practice a particular culture.

I was thinking the same thing with regards to the Greeks & Portuguese... Some people say they aren't white? They say most have Turkish genetics. It would be interesting to know, but really, all races are mixed breeds by now.
Portuguese people seem to be genetically identical to Spaniards. Greeks look like them too, and they both have some Non-European blood in them. Greece had a lot of slaves in the Ancient times, like Rome.

I think Turkish are also caucasian. the mediterranean race which a subgroup of the white or caucasian race, I think is further subdivided , for example european mediterranean are slightly lighter skin dark hair and sometimes have dark brown hair, Middle eastern and northafrican mediteranean have sometimes slightly brown skin. But the correct term is caucasian instead of just white, the craneal features determine the race more than the skin color
You do know that Hispanic is an ethnicity and not a race, right? Most Hispanics are either white, or mestizo (white + native American).
Besides that, most from the Mediterranean area are mixed with a LOT, cause that area has seen more trading and people coming through than any other place in the world. But mostly, Spaniards and Italians are mostly white.

to be honest we had ethnic mixes since the roman empire. if you go in the North you have german/celtic descendands looking italians and if you go South they look more arabic than anything. culture wise is the same thing

White isn't actually a proper race, same applies to black.. It's just colors. However Italians and Spaniards are definitely the same race as English for example, they're all European. The real thing that distinguishes races isn't skin color, but bone structure etc... Otherwise people would change race every time they got a tan. Northern Italians are generally fairly light skinned, whereas southern Italians can be much darker, they're still Italian, they're still European... It doesn't mean they're different races.
The European race thing is kinda bull because Europe is and always has been a hot pot different nations and people warring with each other, taking each others land, breeding with each other and migrating in huge numbers. Like Spain and scilly was once full of moors and saracans, Italy was once invaded and settled by the lombards a barbarian nation chased west by the huns/mongols with all the other barbarian nations. Look at celtic England invaded by the Romans, then the Saxons, at one time the Irish, the vikings, the normans and now immigrants from every corner of the world. To say someone from Europe is white is far to vague.
The way that the west classify human beings more likely depends on how civilized, rich, developed the ethnicity is, and how close their ideology, culture, language to the west. Features and akin color does not matter so much as most people think.
Funny fact: The definition of white in the US has been changing and relational.
For instance, Finns and Slavs weren't considered white in their early immigration laws. And people in Middle ages counted Chinese people as white before Mongolian invasions ( ´βο½).
lots of Italians and Spanish people definitely share the same genetic roots with the middle Eastern countries nearby. But most western people still don't consider these middle Eastern countries white lol.
Italians probably do have some genetics of Middle Eastern countries, Spain in other hand doesnβt. Spain is of Roman and Celtic descent the Moors occupation in southern Spain didnβt really dominate much for Spaniards to share blood with the Moors
I donβt know anything about the mixture of Arabs and African blood the Italians and Spaniards have but I have been to parts of Spain where the least migrants and tourists people be at and I saw nothing but Caucasians some with blue and hazel eyes however, somehow dark eyes but their skin tone was extremely pale and lift European like, Iβm not too sure since I donβt live in Spain, but I can tell that those men that you put in your post are originally north Africans with Spanish nationality but not actual Spanish blood
Yeah, they're white. Here in the UK we seem to focus more on nationality than race, so it's less about what colour your skin is and more about what country you're from.
I believe most people aggree that greeks, italians and spainards are considered white. Even by some (strict) standards of third reich (I do not endorse it, just using it as an example because they were crazy about races).
Obviously, they're white... No idea about the migrant problems. Most probably it's because it's difficult to get jobs for the native people there... so they don't want some foreigner stealing their jobs...

Yes. They are white Europeans. They have had some influx of genes from the Middle East, but they are still essentially white in genetic terms, and also in cultural ones. To be white is to be of European origin.

Ctfu have you ever seen an African American person before? Because the guy who you said kinda looks African American looks nothing like an African American.
Are you Black? People easily recognize people of their own race and can distinguish between race subcategories. I am North European so I don't know the difference between different kinds of Blacks.
