Trending & News Most people don't understand what the difference between Vegan and Vegetarian is. Here is a link but in a nutshell Vegans eliminate all animal products (yogurt, cheese, milk, etc.) from their diet. They also might not wear anything made from animals as well (leather, wool, silk, down, etc.).
I think it is odd that most people who commented that they wouldn't want their S.O. to be a vegan/vegetarian got the thumbs down. It's a matter of preference.
To answer your question I would probably say that indirectly it would be a turn off for me. I might eat meat on a rare occasion because I love my starches. So I can relate somewhat to the Vegan/Vegetarian cause. But what I have found out that most women who don't eat meat are really skinny. I like to be the thin one in the relationship so finding a Vegan/Vegetarian girl size 14 or 16 is unheard of.
Well,Im quite skinny but because I love to do sports..I still have some junk in the trunk though:)
just for the record,I didn't get the thumbs down..
I would not be turned off by a Vegan, as long as she did not object or make me feel guilty about being a meat eater. I believe the Vegan lifestyle is a healthy one, and I wish I had the discipline to go meatless. I would be thinner for sure. But I love my "cow".
Good Luck,
James
Great answer, and I agree with it completely.
well I would think if you were vegan you were very serious about it
most [ NOT ALL ] but most guys love meat, I think it would be kinda weird going on the date and your boyfriend feels like he can't order a hamburger or somethng.
i don't think it would make or break a relationship , but I think it would put a stress on it
Well I'm vegan and I know most people/especially guys love meat, but that would not make any difference in a relationship for me...everyone in my family and people around me eat meat and I still love them..I even have to cook meat dishes for them although its not very pleasant..I was just wondering what a meateater(especially) guys think..but thanks for ur opinion
I'm a vegetarian, not a vegan, but I've never had any problems.

not a turn off as long as she is ok with my dietary habits.
It doesn't turn me off in general. You said, "not try to persuade you to go vegan". which is good.
Although, say we went out to dinner and you ordered a vegan dish, I'd be all for it. No problems I respect your views and your diet. If I ordered the filet mignon and you give me some speech on how it's wrong to kill animals, etc etc... I'd ask you to leave and take yours to go. HUGE TURN OFF.
Listen I love veggies. I eat a lot of veggies. I personally try to eat them raw on as many occasions as I can. But as a body builder, I NEED PROTEIN. No I'm not going to get enough protein from veggies or soy. I do add protein supplementation into my diet via shakes etc. But, in order to keep my diet at a specific calorie level with enough protein to gain and sustain muscle, I must eat meat. I eat mostly chicken, turkey, fish with some lean red meats here and there. Do I like the idea of farming and slaughtering animals? No not really. Do I enjoy eating them and make them a part of my diet... you bet.
I respect a person's life choices, however I do have to question the logic behind being vegan.
You don't want to eat meat because you love animals and feel it isn't right to kill them and such. I'm an aminal lover too, but there is this thing called a food chain, every organic being has it's foods of choice, humans eat some other animals, some other animals will eat humans, it's about survival, at least we kill them quickly and painlessly instead of taking bigs chunks out of them while they're still breathing and struggling to get away like these other animals would do to us.
I know,I have a dog and I feed homeless cats and especially cats cannot survive without eating meat so I do have to give them meat..although my dog eats even tofu so I guess he could go veg:)and the cats at least don't eat mice...So yeah, I just can't eat animals, and as there are other options, I don't have to..But I don't force my views to anyone, its everybodys choice..
you must be retarded to think that they are killed painlessly and live a painless life
@vegangains There are a great many ways to end a life painlessly and instantly, these methods work on cows, pigs, chickens and such without issue.
You have zero evidence of animal abuse outside of far-left wing websites with no credibility.
For me a slight turn off, but not a deal breaker. No one you find is ever perfect, so being vegan would just be a minor issue if I really liked the girl. The only thing I would hate is that if she preaches her vegan ways on me, friends, and family. No only likes to be told to live, so she would have to respect the fact that I love steak! lol Playful teasing would be a plus in this situation though. If I can tease you about being vegan, and you can tease me about eating meat...we can all live happily ever after with our good sense humor. :)
Everyone mentions dinner dates. That's really not that hard to pull off. What about when you move in together? Cooking meals together. Sharing pots and pans. It gets real difficult.
Heck, it's hard enough with people with allergies to always get everything right.
I'm cooking dinner, but I'm cooking two different dinners, two different breakfasts. What happens when it's her turn to cook? Is she going to cook me meat, probably not.
I went on a date with a vegan a few times. I'll pass for the future on that. And I lived with a real picky/bitchy eater for over a year. I couldn't imagine living a vegan.
I wouldn't have a problem with a girl being a vegan so long as she didn't try to force her views on me. It does kind of make restaurant planning for dates a bit of a hassle being that vegans can't live on salad alone but otherwise not that big of a deal. If she started complaining about me eating meat and enjoying it in front of her or said she didn't want to kiss me because I just ate meat then I would move on. It's your lifestyle choice, just don't expect guys to change for you.
Personally it would be a huge turn off for me. People like that put animals on the same level as people I'm pretty sick and tired of them my self not only are they self righteous as hell but their crazy. Animals aren't sentient beings their animals they will eat our ass alive if they take a notion to.
Doesnt turn me off I'm just not attracted to that either.
The thing is totally vegans are often not actually very healthy. The body needs protiens and meat the human body is omniverous and I have noticed a lot of time vegans are sick a lot extremely pale and skinny ...that would be the turn off for me. There is a balence to everything
I have nothing but admiration for people who make the decision to become Vegans or vegetarians... so long as they don't bug me about my choice to be an omnivore, a hunter and a fisherman.
They have the right to eat, live and believe as they choose to.
And so do I.
So no, a girl being a Vegan is not a turn-off.
Do you consider it a turn-off if a guy is not a Vegan?
I would personally be turned off by a vegan. Just personal preference I guess... I love eating meat and I would feel uncomfortable eating it around a SO who's vegan. However, I'm sure there're plenty of guys who find being a vegan a turn on.
Vegetarians are awful at BBQs. :-D
Being a vegetarian is definitely a minor turn off. Being a vegan doubly so.
I would be fine with it just as long as she didn't get on a high horse about it.
as long she respects me the way I am
I'll respect her the way she is
and we'll love eachothers
get over it things die all the time, learn to enjoy the meat ;)
ok that was a little harsh but ya to me that's a giant turnoff, as bad as smoking
I wouldn't mind. Actually I think it'd be awesome! I love animals myself~ I'd love to be with a guy that loved animals that much! X3
i'd be fine with it, but I bet you'd be eating animal products before you knew it lol
honestly its a big turn off to me. i wouldn't date a girl who is a vegetarian. it would be a deal breaker for me. thats just me though.
I respect you but I don't like my girl to be vegetarian
