That Asians study hard and place a great emphasis on learning. Oh, also that it's a good bet a Korean girl has studied one or more of the following: piano, violin, cello, or flute.

Honestly, I find these stereotypes to be quite correct. In fact, so did my wife (ethnically Korean). It was my wife who made that observation about Korean girls.

I teach A LOT of Asian students. I find it's more convenient to ask them *how long* they have studied a musical instrument, not *if* they have studied a musical instrument.

I spend much time at the library. I tutor there. Every time I arrive, I notice kids skateboarding outside the library. All kinds of kids... except Asian kids. Where are the Asian kids? They're *IN* the library. Reading, studying.

I don't believe this is genetic. I believe they were raised in a culture that places great value on academics. Sometimes stereotypes are true because it's simply culture passing down from one generation to another.

I try to stay away from stereotypes as they are normally negative. I gauge each new piece of information I get and store it away but would never let it form an opinion of a nationality because I know each individual is different regardless of where they are from.

I'm a Canadian, living in Germany, and I can say from experience that the Canada, and Germany stereotypes are pretty damn accurate lol

@thecalmerface I do know how to critically think. Do you understand the concept of humour? Of a joke? As a goddamn Canadian I have every right to make fun of my own country, and hockey, and bears is a damn good joke. I'm from the country-- I know that not everyone plays hockey. A lot of us do, but not all of us. If I had to define Canada then I would say we're like Americans, but A. We have a Queen, and B. We don't take everyfuckingthing seriously.
