What goes through your mind?
What runs through your head when you are walking in the night and you come across a BLACK man wearing a HOODIE with his hands in his pockets?
What goes through your mind?
I honestly hope they don't follow me to my car or shoot me. I live in St Louis and I'm a white girl. I have black people come in at work all the time and insult me or refuse to work with me because I'm white. When I'm with friends downtown, I've had black guys try to grope me and then call me a white bitch when I pushed them off. Racial tensions have only gotten worse here in the last two years. Most of the time there isn't a problem, but I pick up my pace and try to get to where I need to go as fast as I can when I see black guys in hoodies, especially at night, and especially if they're giving off sketchy vibes
I have nothing against black people who dress normally and look like they're doing legal things with their lives. But wearing a hoody and putting your hands in your pockets is sketchy whether it's dark outside or in the middle of the day. And yes I steer clear of white guys exhibiting the same behavior. And most of the time they're in groups of two and three if they're walking somewhere and over five if they're standing on a street corner dealing drugs
I'd be a little nervous, but that's more because I've had a lot of bad/creepy encounters with guys late at night than anything else. I don't think it would be about race, but I get a bit nervous around strange men at night if there's no one else around.
i would- nod my head and say "wass good" lol xD
it depends on what they r doing really
might just be chilling..
still gotta look out for your self tho never know
Considering it's night, I doubt I could tell if he's black, white, Asian... but I would be cautious. I don't trust anyone at night, especially if they're covering themselves.
I honestly don't care if I'm called judgmental, racist, or whatever lol I'd rather be called that than act all "progressive" and end up dead. You never know what type of person they are, and at night, you gotta be extra careful.
You would have gotten better results if you didn't mention his race, because now that's the only thing people will focus on, so they won't answer honestly...
If i didn't know him i'd be careful especially if he was large or looked quite solid but
It's the sort of setting where you need to watch your back.
I'm not saying id never stereotype when my life might be on the line which i assume is what the question is getting at but in the UK i don't think there's a correlation between black pepole and violent crime and here we don't have ghettos.

I get scared if I see ANYONE at night. Whether it's a black male or white...
"Huh, is it that cold out?" It doesn't raise suspicion unless it's not a cold night, his skin color doesn't matter.
I would not think anything other than, I hope this fool has his pants pulled up.
Because I do not want to see anybody Nasty ass Drawers.
"Sigh, Where is my gun?" or "Dammit, I wish I had my gun on me"...
What runs through your head when you are walking in the night and you come across a WHITE man wearing a HOODIE with his hands in his pockets?
He's tired, cold, bored, whatever... just a typical guy.
I think that I dress the exact same way and nobody has any opinion on it whatsoever. #whiteprivilege
Nothing goes through my mind, he's a person out walking. I'm a person out walking.
Hope some asshole doesn't shoot him like they did Treyvon Martin
That he's up to no good, and I'll shoot him without hesitating if he tries something.
I go the other way. I am not taking any chances with my life just to make somebody feel good.
News flash, people of all colors get cold and need to bundle up just like you too
I think this was just a sociable experiment, and does not reflect the views of OP. He's wondering what the majority of US would think.
@dragonfly6516 Louis CK did a stand up on benign racism lol
nothing goes through my mind, he is just a person like others
Possible mugging but if it's a white guy then maybe druggy or asking for money
Fear, be him black or white
Being from London, I probably would even notice.
He's cold or comfortable...
Oh look, a random stranger wearing a hoodie.
