Why are white people called caucasians when they're not even from the caucasus region?

Most 'caucasians' are actually from the west Asian continent if we're talking region wise, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and also a part of southern Russia around the Caucasus mountains. And even if we were very far distant related to people of the caucasus region, wouldn't that be like saying whites are African cause far in the distant past Europeans were once african? So why should 'caucasians' even be used?

Well its a term that dates back to the late 1800 century, made by some german guy who used "caucasians race" as an umbrella term for Europeans, and people of west and central Asia (all the way to west indians) and north Africa, calling them beautiful and calling the Mongolian race ugly. (He's also one of the germans who thought germans were superior to any other group of people, and non-germans were "dirty whites"). Either way his concept doesn't make much sense like most racial classifications made by self centred scientists and anthropologists.

I've met Georgians and Azeris before and the ones I've met certainly don't look like you're typical "white people", they can but majority really don't.
The word "caucasians" has now just become a synonymous word for white in America, the term isn't even used for Arabs anymore, cause what American would use caucasian to someone from Saudi Arabia? Don't think some of them would even want to be grouped with them either these days. 😅

Anyway, this is why I hate racial groupings like white, caucasian, black, negroid, mongoloid, Aryan whatever, its stupid, its outdated. Im more of an ethnicity person, there's far more unique groups of people than people realise and dividing them up to large racial groups makes no sense to me at all, they don't even share the same cultures as each other.

The idea of race can actually be traced back to some guy who made up the idea of race based on the idea of beauty.

Now, beauty and perfection is a western mindset. We believe that beauty, perfection, and god co-exist-- or work together hand in hand.

to be close to perfect, or "beautiful" for that matter means your the most closest to god. And this guy basically thought people from southern Russia (Caucasus region) was the most beautiful... and hence where we get the name Caucasian. He also used to call Asians, Mongolians because he thought they were the prettiest "asians".

I think that came up when a dude made three major races of man, Negroid, Mongoloid, and Caucasoid. (someone actually said Mongoloid on here a few days ago to refer to Asian people...) I thought young people weren't taught that anymore-being serious here.
Of course, this guy was wrong because man is not broken into distinct races, rather, we're variations of the same species. Not like, ok, people are different candy bars; snickers, twix, butterfingers. Rather, we're slightly different versions of the same bar, snickers, snickers with almonds, peanut butter snickers...

Why are us black people called black? I mean some are that dark, but I'm more of a Mocha than a black.

Why are people from Sweden called Sweds or even anyone labelled because of the country we are from?

Why are mostly Japanese or Chinese people called Asians sometimes, or even better yet, why aren't Russians or the Israli or people from India called Asians so loosely as well?

Labels are what we put on people to try and differentiate who were are talking about or the group we are stereotyping or how we can describe their appearance better. I'm not sure as to how Caucasian was placed upon light skinned Europeans. Perhaps the first person of colour who met a person from Caucus, found them lighter skinned than they were or that they ever met. So they used their region to put a familiarity or label on the lighter skin colour and said that he is Caucasian. Also, not many people are WHITE. You must have some form of vitamin deficiency or aren't well if you are completely white. But, being that you are lighter skinned than MOST of the world, you are closer to the colour white I suppose. That and the whole "purity" bullshit.

@Lookingforanswerss1 Thanks. Just how I see the world. A lot of hypocrisy and bullshit that really isn't valid or useful to how human should evolve or interact. But, then again, it would be very hard for these to disappear. It's something that us humans seem to need to have in order to interact with one another or make order out of our surroundings. Not sure if it can ever change. We thought the US changed or progressed. Little to no progression has happened as far as I can see, and this past election showcased this in grand fashion.

Caucasian, or rather caucasoid refers to a range of genetics. White doesn't means Caucasian,
like Native Americans are not 'Indians'.
