Is being a feminist a turn off?

If it just means someone who thinks men and women are equal what's the big deal? I just don't understand the negativity. Also, why are men scared to say they are feminists?

It's a turn off, and I'll tell you why. To clear things up, I don't have anything against women's rights. The problem begins when a large portion of feminists use it to conduct societal brainwashing. A few things I read about here -

Going by the google definition never really helps. Also, women don't agree with you. They're abandoning it in the millions. Why? Because they know that it's not what it was once. Less than 1 in 5 women in the USA identify as feminists, though over 90% believe in gender equality. In the UK, 8% of women identify as feminists, but over 85% believe in equality of the genders. If they both meant the same, then people would have given the pollsters the same answers to both questions. Facts and numbers don't lie.

One thing we can agree on is that feminazis are not the best thing that happened to the world.

And if you look at it, past oppression doesn't justify present retributive vengeance (I know. However, your retributive vengeance takes place in the form of privilege). If it was, The Africans would have killed off all White people. On those lines, past oppressions doesn't mean present privilege and overuse of power.

you really want equality, you say?
Here are a few things you can do.

- women should pay alimony as well
- women should be drafted into the military at wartime
- there should be men's nights at bars, clubs, pubs, whatnot
- men should have an equal decision in the fate of their children
- more women should work in hazardous positions of manual labor. There are very less of them there. Where are you on that, feminists?
- create scholarships and affirmative action for male students as well. Equality, right?
- men's only hours at the gym
- men don't pay the bill on the first date, but split it (equality, right?)
- women should get equally severe sentences for cases of rape, paedophilia
- standards for women to join the armed/police forces shouldn't be lowered (because equality. Same standards for everyone)
And finally
- men should have the freedom to remove all our clothes in public and not be arrested for public indecency.
- ban all women's magazines with pictures of men in them. You can't itemize and objectify men like that.

If we men are so incapable of equality, bring it to us. We will be very grateful.

Counter: You should avoid these human garbage completely. As tough as they pretend to be, as soon as a finger is laid on them or if someone says something mean, they’ll immediately act like a helpless little girl to play the victim. The best thing to do is to use them to taint the feminist movement in the eyes of those who are neutral.
4. “Moderate” feminists
Believe it or not, most feminists are not blue-haired orangutans that screech at your face. We just get that impression because it’s the freaks that make all noise. I’ve actually met quite a number of pleasant (and feminine) women who called themselves feminists. I get the impression that these women only decided to associate with the movement because they bought into the all the lies of feminism without ever hearing any counter-arguments. If you approach them calmly and explain things in facts without getting emotional, many will actually listen to you.
How we deal with the moderates will determine how many of them will see the truth and convert or at least distance themselves from the feminism label. ...

Here's the main problem I have with feminism. Men and women are not equal. Both genders have attributes that make them better at certain things. Which is a fact you cannot actually dispute. The whole idea of feminism is only disgusting when it's basis of the person's beliefs are not founded in reality. When someone can truly make themselves believe the two genders are equal is a huge turn off as they cannot look at facts. This is not to say that I support discrimination against women it's just men are better at certain things and vice versa. I believe all/most women in the western world are inherently feminist even if they don't identify as such. And it's the same with most men you will find there are outliers to this in both genders and it's those from the male gender who see women below them give men a bad reputation. In my life I have met mabye 2 or 3 people who I speak to who truly think of women as objects for them to manipulate. If feminism didn't have the vocal minority it does it would be taken much more seriously by the rest of the world and not viewed as a festering ground for the extremes of the movement to become even more set in their views, going even to the point of viewing men as they perceive men view women. This ideal system is by far the major turn off for any man. Why be with someone who views you as dirt and labels you a rapist because of your gender. What some women fail to realise is women in some ways have more rights than men. A women has rights over her child that men will never be able to have simply because they are only the father. It is more difficult for a man to win a custody battle over his children and it is only in the extreme circumstances that they do.

Someone who believes in equality is what we should all strive for. It's the way some feminists act, it is more like how say, the KKK and Black Panthers were.
