Lol yeah. All of their regulations and how they classify firearms makes no sense to me. My boyfriend is really into shooting, guns are his hobby and he still has to frequently check online to see the rules about certain guns and how they are classified. It's like it's meant to confuse people.

Whether the ATF's classification rules are stupid depends on how it works for the majority of normal weapons and not the aberrant hybrids.

Not really hybrids... A pistol with a $15 foregrip on it is still a pistol, but not legally. A short barrelled ar-15 rifle with a certain stock on it is still a rifle, but not legally.

To a Belgian it's simple: licence required for all of those independant of the category.
I know it's sensitive in the USA but we wouldn't want any of those on the street except if the person has been checked inside out for being capable to handle the weapon in a responsible way.

Ah. Most agencies run by the US government are rather useless. I used to work for the Canadian government, and freedom of information requests from the US took forever and a day to be honoured.
