+1 yI suppose you could be right like when you look at the ancient history of fighting in the middle East between the great civilisations like Egypt, Babylon, Mesopotamia, Assyria, Israel. Caucasians since history wherever we set up civilisations we be fought and that's North Europeans, South Europeans, Slavs, Germanics, Semites, Egyptians, Indians, Iranians, Arabs, North Africans, Egyptians, greeks Latins, Hispanics, Turks, Wasps etc basically every Caucasian people have a long history of war. But then again the chineese fought a lot of wars as did the Mongols. The history of America before the Spanish came was of conflict. Africa still has it's wars going.

No, but it is normal to believe this when a person views the story from a Eurocentric point of view.
The great difference between the history of Europe and the rest of the world is that Europe began to industrialize before and that caused its cultural and economic domination of the world.
In 1700 China had 30% of the planet's GDP and India had 22.6%.
In 1980, India accounted for only 3.4% of world income and China 5%.
It is only a reflection of the European takeoff that eclipsed the rest of the planet and led to lead the main wars, because Europeans had the most bulky states.
Today the situation is very different.35 Reply- +1 y
so do you feel that wars are related to industrialization? i dont understand your use of the word bulky?

I want to say that the early industrialization of Europe led to their States being in a better position to fight for the world. Therefore, this explains in part the expansion of the Europeans by the other continents.
The explanation of the causes of wars are not always economic, they can also be religious, ideological or cultural. I am absolutely sure that Europe is not a more bellicose region than the rest of the world, simply most of the sources are European so we know more about the European wars than about the wars between Hutus and Tutsis in 1850.
Moreover Europe is a a highly populated area is therefore more likely to collide different cultural or religious currents, and the struggle for resources is more intense. - +1 y
When I speak of a voluminous state (Estado voluminoso in spanish), I am thinking of a country that has the income and the personnel to devote scientific, political and military efforts to its expansion (colonial Empires). In contrast, a state like that of Abyssinia did not have the same capacity to organize and undertake such ambitious campaigns.

I don't think Caucasians, by nature, are more warlike than anyone else, but due to a variety of reasons, they were the ones who had the advantage in war against others which made being aggressive an "easy" option and were mostly situated in a quite small area (Europe) with multiple nations which gave rise to multiple conflicts, which necessitated larger and better armies and innovation in military fields, which also directly fed into them having the advantage against others.

+1 yWhile they may have done a lot of damage to other civilizations and waged the most wars with others, they have still contributed the most to humanity, which makes them more of a help and benefit to humanity, rather than a burden or liability. After all, no race is free from error. Asians have also conquered many lands and have committed mass acts of violence to nearly the same level as Caucasians, but they've had more of a positive influence as well. This can't be said of other groups such as sub-saharan Africans and their descendants, which have done more bad than good overall, and are thus a liability and burden to humanity.

+1 yHere are all battles since 3400BC. Where did most battles take place? Also all the red dots are from WWII. WWII has been started in Europe. Statistically we are the most warlike people.

the dark red dots are from 1946 to 2016 though, not WWII.

So @Blitzkrieger your saying the more advanced a civilisation is the more wars they fought?
- +1 y
@DonkeyRick69
@Blitzkrieger actually has an EXCELLENT POINT.
Say there are 100K people living somewhere in a primitive condition.
First, they are not United. Part of what an advanced civilization (AC) does is unite the people's and create communication and transportation lines.
So, the battle. between themselves in a group melee so to speak. None of the wars would show up on your map.. each one would be too small.
Second, ACs use written language or one type or another, and new is widely and repeatedly recorded. Non-ACs don't write or record, and if they do, they don't have multiple copies.
So, even if a non-AC had a great war, again you'd never know about it because frequently only scraps of records manage to survive, often because there are multiple copies.
Third, ACs build longer lasting structures and weapons. We're still digging up Roman helmets and swords, and the fortifications of Troy have been located supposedly. Non-ACs weapons and fortifications are more ephemeral. - +1 y
@Intraluminal actually civilization started 10.000 years ago. This map goes to the year 2016. 3400 + 2016 = 6416.
In other words, all the battles happening happened between civilized societies. Random intertribal battles of 20 people on each side are of course not recorded. This map is about battles happening in wars.
You can't wage war without a military, you can't have a military without a civilization. - +1 y
In tribes everyman is a warrior

We can scan for mass graves and according to the wounds on the skeletons we can tell if its a war or genocide or whatever. - +1 y
Well the Comanche took over and conquered vast territories in Mexico Texas and new Mexico before the white man came
- +1 y
Yes, we can scan etc., But that knowledge will always be more. expensive, time consuming, and be subject to greater interpretation than a written history.
- +1 y
@Intraluminal thats true. this is not a static map though, more battles are added over time.

+1 yI don't think we have the necessary knowledge and stats to make that call either way. I would say that, to my knowledge, white people have been the most imperialistic. I think that's a bigger problem than being warlike. You can be warlike and just be playing defense, defending your own zone. Being imperialistic requires you to be a douche and have the audacity to run up on other people and say "you're under new management, get down or lay down."

Rome didn't fight wars over religion, they did it for power and money, Hitler didn't fight wars over religion unless you want to call every ideology a religion and at that point i will laugh. north korea invades south, USSR invades afghanistan, manchuria, georgia, poland, finaland, latvia, lithuaian, estonia, east germany, hungary, Czechoslovakia, to name a few
