What to say to a guy when he's work stressed?

New boyfriend is very "corporate". We've been dating for about six months and each "end of month" I've tried something different to try to make his week at least SEEM a little bit better. First couple months I just dealt with being ignored while he sat in his man cave. Second couple months I sent him ego-boosting texts. This month, and since we have been intimate, I sent him the following text today:

baby, if you're having a bad day...just think about me being naked but if you're having a good day...just think about me being naked!

I'm just hoping to put a smile on his face.

So what you think guys?

He is the only one who can put a smile on his face, unfortunately. Sorry, but even sex may not be enough to change the attitude of someone who is stressed at work on a regular basis. Be prepared to allow your partner to hang out in his man cave. They need that.

The hardest thing to do is just listen to your partner tell you their woes, tell them you get it and leave it at that. You cannot fix or change what he is going through. It is his choice as to what emotions he is attaching to his stress. And, yes, that means you will be dating a guy who at the end of each month is not that much fun to be around. It happens. I have seen where if we put effort into trying to change someone's mood, they almost dig their heels in harder out of a frustration that you don't understand them and are negating their experience.

Unless end of month means working in the office more/later...once he gets home is he not able to put work concerns aside and allow you to help him take his mind off of it? :) I mean why go home and then continue to stress about work.

We are dating, we don't live together so I don't know yet...i'm not saying this is something I can't handle or even that I "fault" him...i just asked for suggestions on things I can say to put a smile on his face...if I ever move in with him, I'll DO whatever he wants to make him feel better IF he wants anything...might just want to be left alone and that'll be fine, I'll go paint my toes

Forget worrying about what to SAY. We are wired different than women. Women want a man who is understanding, sensitive, caring etc. Not saying we don't want those qualities as well, but it isn't as high on our totem pole. Your ACTIONS speak volumes. Instead of the text joke (which I think is cool) surprise him with new lingerie. Don't say a word. Just act. I may be a little blunt here but give him a random BJ. Have sex in your car. Make him his favorite meal. The surprise value goes a long way with us. I understand you want to know what to say, but a lot of the time your actions are a lot more powerful. Think of the old Extreme Song 'More than words.' Keep the lyrics in mind.

We don't live together so when he distances himself, there's really nothing I can DO but I thought of those things you mentioned if I could be "there". He did send a text back at 9pm and said "everyone was looking at me funny all day, must've had a stupid grin on my face about something ;) " She shoots, she scores! 2 points for Half-pint ;P
