Exclamation marks after your name in text messages?

I'm just wondering, a lot of girls when they text me always write my name and then put an exclamation mark. Is there any particular reason why that is? I think it's weird to even write my name, I mean she knows who she's talking to anyway. So is it just like excitement or what?

Its just sorta a way of showing you are excited or eagar or wateva I mean it would be a bit weird if at the end you wrote "btw I'm excited/eagar" so yh I think its basically that. hope it helps :)

The same thing happens to me. For example my name is Dan, so I'll get texts like Daaannnn!

It's most likely just to convey excitement.
