Saw this post on Reddit today that took some female empowerment quotes and reversed the genders. Thoughts?

I... cannot see how this discusion is benificial to anyone.
Look, I get how reversing the geneders can imply a 'fairness' that a lot of people think is missing from much of the discourse. But those saying are missing the point. They don't take into consideration the power dynamics of gender that have existed for most of human civilization. It does't talking about the way women *who are living today* have been raised and socialized. This is a shitty attempt at fairness that just gives more sympathy to the group who has historically had the most social power already. It doesn't accomplish it's goal, and it's a cruel thing to make.
So us guys *who are living today* should be treated like shit in a vengeful way, due to so called social power our ancestors had in the past and what others did, in the past, that we haven't done ourselves.
This apparently justifies not equality, but justifies the continued action of discrimination and that women are some how now justified to act like the men they apparently hated for doing the same thing... Like they're owed to act like jackasses and that us guys who've never done any of the above, still deserve being treated like scum.
And that's supposed to make things better for everyone?
This isn't a cruel thing to make, it shows clear hypocrisy and you just defended that hypocrisy with the lamest victim defence I've ever seen.
Basically you just said that all of the above is clearly wrong to do, but since men have apparently done the above for so long, it's now OK to keep doing, so long as it's women doing it to men because all men deserve it.
How long does that lunacy continue? Another 100 or 200 years? Will women then be finally satisfied that they've been dickhead long enough? Problem is then you'll all be conditioned to think like the above is normal and then this cycle of foolishness continues where the roles reverse and then women become the evil scum bags instead of the men.
Meanwhile equality is never found.
I've never done any of the above towards women and try to treat everyone equal, but I deserve the treatment above because I am male and males have done the above for so long. Meanwhile women who have been treated fairly and never had the above crap thrown at them are still justified in treating men like scum because other women in the past were treated this way.
And you think this is OK?
I giggled. I love seeing these kinds of things reversed. I used to be a feminist but I changed my views because I needed to think of the "if this was reversed, how would I feel" question and this helped. I never liked the idea of abled people depending on others, regardless of sex.. I didn't care about girls hitting boys until I thought about if it was reversed. I dont have a problem with empowerment as long as you're not degrading others. I think guys should start an empowerment movement too.
But what is wrong with these texts?
Well it clearly shows two things... It shows the double standards of Feminism and its hypocrisy... And it shows that Feminism isn't actually about equality.
Unless it's about the equality of being a d*ck, which neither gender should be striving for in the first place.
Equality isn't about dominance over the other and if Feminism thinks equality in dominance is the way to go, then it is set up for failure from the get go, since dominance is by definition the opposite of equality. Both genders fighting for dominance will only continue conflict.
aside from the top left and the one below it i think they all make decent sense.
i think it sort of makes it clear that the same can be said for men and women in many regards to relationships
1. Men can't shame female promiscuity, but it's ok if women shame male promiscuity.
2. Feminists are more than happy to steal men's rights away from their children, whether it be having no say in an abortion or having stupid custody bias just because the kid came out of her vagina rather than just looking at which one is more properly suited to raising said child. Even though the movement supposedly wants 'equal rights'...
3. They tell us they want equal treatment, and then bitch when chivalry dies (don't get me wrong; I believe in chivalry, and even love it, but their logical fallacies over the whole ordeal just blow my mind).
And that's just 3.
I was talking in general, but about those quotes, they'd freak out if a man said them. However, switch the genders back the way feminists had them and they become ok again. 3 that I KNOW would piss feminists off are top right, middle, and bottom middle. They no longer fight for equality. What they fight for is to push women into superiority and men into inferiority.
@Gavyn quit going on about feminism in general. this question is specific and deals with specific statements. you are speculating that feminist would freak out. i consider myself a feminist. i am married to a feminist. probably some 95% of teh women i know are feminist and none would freak out about those statements.
in fact i just asked a very out and proud feminist who said those statements make sense.
it's fair to have issues with feminism but when you just go on about feminism unprovoked you sort of sound like the hysterical feminazi you despise.

I think all of these quotes are wrong, both originally and sex-swapped. They are the product of a belief in relationships between the two sexes being a zero-sum game. They empower one sex at the expense of the other--and that isn't true empowerment.
The only quote with which I agree with the sentiment is the one in the 2nd row, 3rd column--if only the phrasing were sex-neutral:
"A good partner can't stand seeing their partner hurt. They are careful with their decisions and actions so they never have to be responsible for their pain."
Now that is a quote I can stand behind.^^^
I would say most are reasonable quite honestly (if women ever actually took them into consideration instead of just parroting the "female empowerment" quotes) the only exception being the last one as technically if you don't need the person, then you will absolutely replace them at the drop of a hat and that's rather disloyal and unsettling. I would also say that the women who claim they have no issue with this, well, lets see them claim that if they heard this under any other context i. e. when they didn't know it was a reversal, chances are they would be furious (especially 1,3,4, and 9).
One two three four!
Denver - the last dinosaur. He's my friend and a whole lot more. Denver, the last dinosaur. Shows me a world I never saw before.
From the hot hot jungle a loooong time ago, comes a cool cool friend my pal dino. Denver, the last dinosaur. Shows me a world I never saw before.
Everywhere we go, we don't really care, if people stop and stare at our pal dino. From pre-history through the rock & roll spotlight, we got the friend who helps us make it do alright, that's Denver, the last dinosaur. He's my friend and a whole lot more. Denver, the last dinosaur, shows me a world I never saw before.

"Strong men intimidate weak women"? consider replacing "intimidate" with "attract"
Didn't read the rest lol
Most of these sounds like something said by someone in the 1950s of before that.
In the context here, they are good quotes - I agree that most women should follow these advices. But a feminist would never agree that this is acceptable, and out of context, anyone saying this would be instantly labeled a misogynist.
This was hilarious. The sexism, entitlement and self-importance in so much of what feminists say just seems to fly under the radar, but if a man said the same things with the genders reversed, most feminists would fly into a rage.
Feminists are incredibly hypocritical on multiple levels.
@Anonymous (30-35) - it's not men who usually have a problem with quotes like this... it is usually feminists themselves. QA was just pointing out the hypocrisy in so much of what feminists say, that's all.
I think all of those qoutes are bullshit, not for the sake of feminism but what are they for?
"Because he let you"
"Because she let you"
It's all dumb shit, if they were turned around it would be the exact same shit, i can't stand the "respect wahmen" thing.
It's all such bullshit
They are silly ass shyt for either gender and their reversal implies bilateral equality exists which is bs while many of these were taken from earlier decades from male version variants by the feminists and originally reversed.
Most of this nonsense comes from women's magazines. It's just a way to profit off the insecurities and insensibilities of women who like to overanalyze their relationships.
Both men and women can become better people with the right encouragement and emotional support. Giving advice that brings people together is better than telling women how to manipulate men using sex.
More important why does all of this quotes regardless of sex sound that cheesy?
This is brilliant. Really exposes the double standard of dating.
And of feminism in general.
If I want to rollerskate on my period I should be able to.
The only ones I have any problems with are the bottom left and the bottom right one, everything else makes some sense to me
Just keep treating em the way I do. They're getting what they deserve. TRUST ME. There are guys like me out there. I don't listen, I don't hear it, I just flat out assault. End of story.
All those quotes sound whiney, insecure, and self-aggrandizing, whether the subject is male or female.
I agree, i can never understand the whole “empowering” fiasco, it just makes us women look too dependable on others and what they think... No one’s going to respect you if you need someone else to “empower” you, or if you can’t take on the world alone (in the everyday kinda way not the hitler kinda way lmao) .
Some of these I can’t see what the problem is. What’s the issue with these?
From the looks of all written from yourself and others across the spectrum here , you seem to be the one who has the issue of another occupying empowerment over you. Time to par up dude...
I don’t have a problem with these.
It’s interesting so many men have a problem with female empowerment though.
Oh, hun... The reason you don't have a problem with these is that these are pretty light. I have read way worse. I can't find any on a whim, but trust me, I have felt my fist itching a hundred times reading feminist quotes degrading men.
Additionally men have a problem with women's "empowerment" because it treats men like cattle, like disposable things, like bumbling buffoons, and berates them at every possibility. And men, understandably, say at some point "Ok, be empowered all you want - but if you insult me one more time, I am done!"
The problem with female empowerment is that it's at the expense of male confidence or appreciation. I would like to show you THIS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XX6ATwQv7Q
Jess Phillips is a prominent UK politician and feminist. Apparently she doesn't think men deserve a "day", or a discussion about men's rights and issues. Fun, isn't it?
What you’re referring to isn’t female empowerment.
What you’re talking about sounds more like plain hatred. I deal in female empowerment but I do it in a way that lifts women up without trashing men, but a lot of men still don’t like it because they want to be empowered over women. The good men are on board however.
Pointing out that feminists are hypocritical scum? lol
Those quotes are nice. But everything is temporary, nobody is strong nobody is weak, the life affect everyones life.. at that point some strong people become weak.. So parmanent thing is love all, forgive all, help others and respect people thats it.
This is fine. No seriously. It is. That are definitely some truths out there.
...
Said the 19yo that has never been in a relationship before and clearly know what he's talking about...
I don't see why there should be any controversy in this.
most of those are stupid - there might be truth in a couple but that's it
I makes me realize how emotional women are. Their minds constantly filled with this crap and then blaming everything on men.
I like this. This is good for both sexes
I don't see the big deal?
@watsons15 ... is there something that I'm missing? What has one thing to do with the other? What Ray Rice did was wrong. What appears on the Reddit post has also some wrong quotes but some are fine.
They are all truths either way.
Hahaha, i like it! Gender equality y'all 😝
What have i just read?
I don't get it, where's the reverse?
Well it highlights all the hypocrisy.
restoration of the rightful order. thank you sir
I like them, especially the bottom right
It's interesting, I'll give you that.
Okay. And?
Nope, no problem
who gives a fuck?
Interesting
