My roommate keeps tapping on his desk and whistling while I'm trying to write a paper?

hmmm I'm pretty passive aggressive so I'd most likely wait until he is working on something important and annoy the hell out of him. Like hum and whistle and bark like a dog or something... and if he commented on my behavior being loud and abnoxious I'd respond with something like "oh pretty much how you act all the time?"

I would def. say please stop I can't do my work like that, not a big deal it's not rude. I tell it to stranger at the library if they are loud, that is your roommate! just don't be rude of course, stfu will not going to make your roommate stop.

You should just tell him. My roommate talks all the time when I'm trying to work. I just smile and ask say sorry but I'm trying to finish this. Just say, "Hey John, I'm sorry but I'm trying to write a paper." Just be polite.

Yeah I understand. Politeness just kind of keeps the tension at bay. If ya'll have a pretty good relationship, just laugh and say, "man can you be quiet? I'm trying to get this thing done." I'll smile and "shhh" my roommate if she keeps talking. Obviously guys don't do that though.

Hahaha, just be like "Dude, really?" I prefer subtle hints when it comes to shutting up roommates. It tends to cause less friction and drama versus flat out telling him to shut up.

Maybe it's his way of teaching you a lesson in procrastination, ha ha (kidding, of course). I honestly think I'd start making really obnoxious noises as well...just much louder than his. Hopefully that'll shut him up. Do onto others as you wish to be done onto you, right?
