The black uniforms were ceremonial or used by the SD Police in certain situations. The regular SD uniforms were in grey colour. My favourite German uniform is the regular field grey Army uniform, followed by the Paratroopers uniform of the air force.
And I own a complete set of the former.

If you leave the entire Nazi behind and just look at the entire design, they were decades ahead of the other uniforms, mainly the British but mostly the Italian ones.

Italy has since overtaken the world for clothing design but the officer's German uniforms of WWII where the nicest looking ones.
