What does it mean when a guy takes off his relationship status on facebook?

His relationship status used to be “single,” and now it’s changed so that his relationship status column does not show at all. Why would a guy do this? Does this mean he is single or in a relationship? Which status is he more likely to be?

Guys, why would you not want to show your relationship status on facebook?

HI, personally I never added my relationship status on my FB profile because I'm not into all that so mine is not shown. However, I started seeing a guy who had his as 'single' and interested in was set to 'dating, a relationship, networking, friendship etc' after we had our first date he changed his so that it was not shown, he also changed his so that no one can comment on his wall. I read into this that he did it out of respect to me so I couldn't see what other girls were writing on his wall and also so that other people couldn't see that he was 'single' ie available anymore. Likewise I couldn't write on his wall so all his friends and family couldn't see what I wrote on there. He didn't need to add 'in a relationship' in my opinion because it isn't a relationship until way down the line when you are serious with someone. My advice is not to read too much into it, some people use it and use it for a reason - to make out they are available or not available. Don't forget some people use FB for dating and just hooking up with random guys or girls. Hope that helps :)

i don't like having my status on fb just because if I'm in a relationship, that's between me and the girl, not me and all my friends and all her friends, but even when I was single I didn't have it showing up because I don't think its important for other people to know I'm single

Honestly he might just think it's nobody's business or maybe don't want to flash his status to everyone on his profile. It's just like anything people don't put on there. Some people don't share their religion on there or birthday, doesn't mean they don't have one. The only reason you might be concerned is if you're the one in the relationship with him and you think he doesn't want people to know. That would bother me.

I have to agree with most of the answers on here..privacy. To me, relationship status is a personal choice, and if I was getting to know someone, showing my status would just inhibit that. It's simply a personal choice.

I took mine off when I started talking to someone because I was committed to "talking" to this guy, lol... Some people I know take it off when they are in a relationship because they don't want to publicize the relationship. But, it could also mean nothing.

If my girlfriend wasn't on facebook I would probably hide it, only because I think it looks silly and unbelievable when you set it to "In a relationship", instead of showing who you are in a relationship with. If she was on facebook, I would definitely let the world know it. The only good reason I would hide it for is if I didn't want to hurt a close friends feelings, because I knew she liked me, and I was dating someone else. There are a few reasons why a single guy might hide it.

1. He is ashamed of the girl he likes around his friends and family.

2. He is messing around with someone, and he doesn't want any of his friends to know or any girls to bother him.

idk what his reason would be...i did the same thing recently though because I gave up on getting a girlfriend because I keep getting cheated on, dumped or rejected & can't get a relationship longer then 2 days, or a week if its long distance, I don't know guess I'm just sad & pathetic lol but that's my prob...he could be like me & not looking for a relationship or maybe he doesn't want people to know.

I never put anything there because it's ridiculous and there's not really any point. The people who are worth knowing will know you're in a relationship. Plus it saves all the drama and questions as soon as it's changed.

Honestly I removed my relationship status, as well as my religion and political views because I don't want people to define me by what I think.
