Guy friend called me "Sweetie"?

We were texting, he was asking me how I was because I stayed home sick...and I asked him if I missed anything and he replied "Nope, you're fine, sweetie"

He had never called me sweetie before... he really only calls me by nicknames "Gabbie, Gabs, Gabcha, Gabalamaliciousness"... never anything else, so a pet name like that caught me off guard.

It made my heart flutter, which makes me think that its some sort of move on me... but I could be wrong...

what do you guys think? Does this mean nothing?

Lol it depends how the word has been used.. for example my teacher is just a kind,loving person so she basically calls everyone honey/sweetie/cutie(yeah) but she's totally safe and not trying to hit on us obviously.. It' just her way of speech. When guys say it they usually say it to just say it and make the person feel good while making the conversation something (like in this case) or to actually show they like a girl like.. "That girl is so sweeeeeeettt!" or "You guys are sweeties".

In this case I think he was just saying it.. but since it's a text it could have some meaning.. I mean could you picture him saying that in real life?

No, I can't picture him saying it in real life. I was actually thinking for a while that his friend stole his phone.
