What does it mean when a girl sits on your lap? (High school environment)

So this girl and I hung out with a bunch of friends. We usually tease each other and stuff. One day, we were all at this yogurt shop. There were two tables with two chairs each, all of us took a chair except her and one of my other guy friends who sat someplace across the room. I had taken her backpack from her and wouldn't let her leave yet, and so she sat on my lap. What does this mean?

I really like her, and I want some opinions about this. Thanks!

One thing I forgot to add, my friends had mentioned my ex to her before and she was with me when I said hi to my ex. She did not seem troubled and teased me a little about it instead.

One thing to make clear...i have no intentions whatsoever in any sexual relationships...and I'm 100% sure that she doesn't either. Its just not our type. Would it mean anything else BESIDES sexual stuff.

I'd say she's into you. Especially if she's one of those nice girl types. If you like her, ask her out - without other friends - and make it something like going for dinner or something, rather than just 'chilling' together. x

i have already hung out with her plenty of times as our group of friends left. We would usually just talk and make fun of each other. But she also knows a lot of guys and I just don't know if she does the same thing to them...

I still think she's into you. I wouldn't sit on any guy's lap I couldn't potentially want to sleep with at some point into the future.

You'll convey the point more clearly if you ask her to hang out solo, without your friends, not just as they're leaving.
