I don't think the media does ignore it. Certainly not in the UK. We are lucky our media does not discriminate between ethnic groups. Rape is rape. The reason more heinous crimes like shootings and stabbings get wider coverage is because they're acted out in front of witnesses, sometimes caught on CCTV, it's easy to get the story. In rape cases it is often a case of he said she said, with no witnesses and no evidence. So the media hasn't got anything concrete to publish till after the case has completed, and only if the court doesn't put a ban on reporting it.

On the subject of evidence, social media has come to the rescue of that to a certain extent. The Police can access the accused and the victim's social media to trawl for evidence that previously was not possible under Data Protection laws.

The women's rights groups who campaigned for social media to be used in such caes for years, are upset about it because far from increasing the number of prosecutions, the meta data, phone locatoon readings and social media posts - when revealed - completely blow the original claim out of the water. In some cases, women had pre-planned the allegations as a form of retaliation, bullying or simply out of spite. As a result, hundreds of convictions have had to be overturned, with thousands more cases potentially needing to be reviewed.

Since time immemorial, the problem with rape allegations is, they are often completely impossible to prove or defend (no cctv, no witnesses etc). But nowadays, your mobile phone can prove - or disprove a lot. Many convictions are achieved because phone records can put that accused at the place, at that time. so it's beyond all reasonable doubt. But almost as often, the phone records prove the opposite. Sometimes, for the most ridiculous of reasons. Needing an excuse for failing an exam (see link), getting out of parking fines, getting back at an ex or a work colleague. And it is utterly shocking at how brazen these women are - often penly discussing what they're doing on social media. And have been getting away with it for decades. These women have the strange delusion that false rape allegations are an acceptsble way to get back a man for something he did or didn't do. And that must change, or how on earth is anyone to know what a genuine case looks like?

I wonder what would happen if this was rolled out elsewhere. For instance, Hollywood. Imagine an actress makes an allegation about an actor or director, he gets convicted, then the police on her WhatsApp, "of course it was consensual, hun. I dragged him back to my place! But he never called back. Sothat asshole needs to be taught a lesson. And it'll pay for my next holiday. !". May sound ridiculous, but this is exactly the sort of text that is getting convictions overturned here in the UK.

Unfortunately the reality is this:
1. Most raped are committed by someone you know.
2. The overwhelming majority of rapes never go reported as (from experience) the process after the fact can be just if not more traumatizing.
3. Many SANE exams (rape kits) are performed improperly and can easily become inadmissable
4. Most rape kits are never processed (backlogs go back decades)
5. Unless the law enforcement believe there is substantial evidence that NONCONSENSUAL penetration occurred, many times they will not bother the DA with it.
6. The DA prosecutes less than half of the cases that come across their desk because

8. Many who are found guilty never see another day in jail.
9. 90% of women I've spoken to have either been raped or convey an experience they didn't consider to be rape that easily fits the legal definition.

My point in all of that is that it's not a race issue so much as it's a systemic issue... Not even just a women's issue but I don't know any real numbers on men who have been raped but it's underreported too.

As a system we don't take rape seriously enough as a crime. Admittedly I don't have stats on it but I feel you're more likely to get convicted theft than you are for rape, and on average serve more time.
