How Come The Media Is Pushing White/Black Interracial Relationships?

Question

First off, I am a black guy, if that makes a difference. When I was a kid, I grew up in a 98% white community, so the only women I dated were white. Back then, I used to think interracial relationships were empowering and I used to think that it was needed to spur change and bring everyone together. I am about to sound like a hypocrite for saying this... but I am sick of it now (more specifically the white and black couple).

When I watch TV these days, the only interracial couple I see on TV is white and black.

-What about the Asian and Hispanic couples?

-What about the Indian and White couples?

-What about the Black and Asian couples?

Do you see my point here? I am not not entirely against interracial relationships... but I feel that the media is pushing whites and blacks to be together and that the media is telling white people and black people (more black people specifically) that you cannot be truly happy until you date outside your race.

Why this annoys me is because when I talk to black women... they tell me they only want to date white men. When I talk to white women, they tell me that "pink dicks" are "disgusting" and they prefer black men (yes... some of them have told me this).

If you look at a lot of the CW shows, for example (Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, LOT), you will see that they are pushing the white/black couple as well.

I have also seen a lot of commercials doing this recently as well.

I'm tired of the media pushing whites/blacks. I think the media should even out everything by showing different interracial couples (not just white and blacks) and also showing same race couples (especially for the black community).

These are just my thoughts. What do you guys think?

From my neck of the woods (north east america) black white couples are looked down upon because from what I have seen. It is usually a black man who has made so many mistakes in his life that his black community rejects him. On the other side it is a white girl from probably a working class family living in a white area but something about her isn't very white American. Like she's obese, or really tall, divorced parents so in turn her white america rejects her. So since this black man wants someone help him become stable and support him and the white girl can't get Bradley cooper and she doesn't wanna be alone they become a couple.
But during this relationship the black man ask for a lot, money, to use the car, video games, drinking money etc etc and this white girl looks down on herself for being with him. Then they will fight and she starts reciting mien kampf word for word and if she isn't doing it, someone in her circle is. I as a black man have never been in that situation but I've seen it happen. It is kind of sad that when someone says "I know a girl who likes black guys, i'll set you up" and the first thing that pops into my mind is a desperate obese white woman and sadly, I've been right like 90% of the time.
With all that being said I think the media wants to push for more positive interracial couples and show the world you can be Jordan peele and Chelsea peretti , Taye diggs and Idina menzel, Nick cannon and Mariah Carey, Ben harper and laura dern, Seal and Hiedi klum. And that not all mixed couples are Flava flav and Brigette nielsen

I don't know much about the media and them pushing that but I see your point. There does seem to be a giant "only" white women with black men. I find it odd that you are saying that black women always say that they will only date white men though.
In my experience a lot of black women do not like race mixing.

The thing that pisses me off about interracial dating is that 99% of the time when a white girl goes for a black guy the sole reason is "he's black, COOL!" or something skin tone related.
Same thing for white guys and Asians. They Always go for Asians because they are Asian.

It drives me nuts, man!!!

The short answer: It's good for the brand

The long answer: Entertainment companies, now more than ever, have to take account of who their show's going to reach, who the company *wants* to reach, what those audiences are comfortable with and who's more likely to watch their shows. Black & white couples have gotten a lot of air time over the last 50 years so the platform is already there for them to reach a large, vocal audience and instant give them a 'good image'. Introducing something new can be seen as a challenge, threat or 'unwanted controversy' by the audience. I don't think this, but while they *should* represent more inter-racial couples, the company would have to really care about doing so to invest in the idea & make it work. If it's something that's really captured you, I'd like to encourage you, write to different screen writers, especially ones that you've seen write inter-racial couples (well) into other shows. Represent to them clearly why it's important and how much it would mean. To you and others. You're bound to have an effect on someone and that's where the change starts. Connecting with another person, about a human issue and encouraging them to cause change too. You've certainly affected my opinion, I'll keep it in mind for my screenplays. Good luck!

I'm not sure if they are pushing it but it may be more black/white couples on tv because that's the most common interracial pairing. I can't actually name a lot of movies with other kinds of interracial relationships. both karate kid movies black/asian (the new one). what ever Daniel's race was, I think white and Asian. I believe on one of the rush hour movies Jackie Chan's character dated a Hispanic woman. Vampire diaries had a white and as i relationship. A Hispanic and black one and some others... people dated around on there. And I can name other shows that have other interracial couples as well, even cartoons. I just thibk people r more sensitive to paying attention to white/black relationships we don't five as much attention to others

I understand kind of. It probably sounds weird coming from a black and white person but I do wish they would show other interracial couples too. When people say the word 'mixed' they often times automatically think black and white. Also, those posts where it says that the majority of the population will be black and white bother me. I hate that it does and I don't know why it does, but it does.

Simple answer. The political left wants the white population REPLACED with children who mostly look BLACK and refer to themselves as BEING BLACK or African American. Why else would commercials constantly ram interracial relationships down your throat that ONLY involve white and black people and no other racial
groups? Why would you only show white men with black children and never show a white man with white children in these commercials? To me the writing is on the wall. "Get Rid Of Yourself White Man By Fathering Black Children Instead Of White/Caucasian Children". This message isn't being targeted to any other racial group except for white people. No one is telling or pressuring Asian women to mix with black or Hispanic men. No one is telling or pressuring Latino's that they should mix with black people or Asian people or white people. It's only white people who are being pressured and are being labeled a racist if they don't mix outside their race, especially if they dont mix with black people.

If race and color doesn't matter and we're all human beings as people like to say, why than is the media and other institutions so hell bent on pressuring white people into having children with only black people but never with
their own race? Clearly this points to an agenda. Again, that agenda is a "FUTURE WITH OUT WHITE PEOPLE". And that's exactly what you'll have if white men and women are not procreating with each other anymore. And that's the point of why interracial relationships are encouraged.

There are more than one type of race. But there are beautiful people in every race. God made them for that race, not other races There is nothing wrong with purity in your race. You are more likely to obtain an STD by copulating outside your race than within your race. That is because your immune system is desensitized by generational copulation by other races with higher annual risk rates than your own race.

I also understand this to be true. Its meant to destroy being in a cohesive family in order to make them have a source of contention for life itself. Its meant to reduce your capability to be in good relations to everyone around you. Its done to make you look like a fool when you have interracial disparity in your relations to that partner. Only a fool would subject their self to being compromised in their health and well being as an individual.

I've kinda noticed the same thing. I think that they're pushing it because they're trying to show they support interracial relationships. Out of all the interracial relationships, I would guess that black/white is the most common, so more people would be able to relate to it.

Also, off the top of my head I know there's a black/asian relationship in Grey's Anatomy :D

I personally don't care what the media shows. I rarely pay attention to it anyway. I recommend dating whoever we all want. I know that seems obvious but that's how I feel. Also, not paying attention to media has been nice for me. I know not many people want to do that though.

i don't think the media is pushing it. i think they are just trying to more accurately represent in their productions the world at large. as there is no incentive for them to "push" interracial relationships

as for why the specific interracial parings are more common, i'd imagine that has a direct correlation wtih the show or movie and their targeted audience

I think it's the only way to end the racial divide, by blurring the line so much that it becomes moot. Way back, Diana Shore was a TV star who nobody knew was black and she was about to marry Burt Reynolds when the news came out and scuttled the whole thing. I think because there seems to be the most tension between blacks and whites. So they probably tend to try and bridge that gap more than the others. At least here in the States I feel that way, but of course that's just my opinion.

It's because the elites want less white people. That's why it's in media so much, is because THEY own the media and want race-mixing. Mixed people generally have lower IQ's and people with low IQ's are easier to manipulate and control through said media and culture. Oppose race mixing.

I've noticed that for a while now too. I think it's weird more people don't see it. You can cherry pick, but mostly it is black man/white woman. I was thinking maybe it is to be inciteful or edgy, or the show/company are trying to get you to see how "woke" they are, or "hey we're not racist see, black man and white woman ^^". Its because the Africans and the Americans (non-Africans), have a long history of conflict and continuously arising turmoil. Their fights keep hurting the economy, and they aren't talking since a lot of the time, the groups are segregating. The way to eliminate the bias to get them interacting, and marriage is a great way to pull that off and eliminate those biases.
