Black people over represented in the media?

Does anybody else think society over represents white females and it isn't fair to women of color?

I heard several people say black people are over represented in the media and unfortunately that it would be better if there were more white people. - do you guys agree or is that bullshit?

I fully support black people, especially black women being represented more as well as people with disabilities. Why when these groups get seen it's suddenly a problem?

Of course we are. Because we are the "default" non-"White" group. Doesn't it strike anyone as odd that supposed "race" conversations are only about "Black" people and "White" people?

The issue isn't that "Black" people are over-represented when it comes to "Whites". That is just a silly idea.

It is that "Blacks" are over-represented when you look at Asians, American Indians, Indians, Arabs, etc.

I don't like including Latinos or Hispanics because there is an issue with that. I think many believe they are "White" already. So there isn't an issue with representation.

If anyone has seen ANY TV in the last month or two, they MUST have seen the shift in casting for commercials.

Ditto for the TV shows for the last two decades. The problem with an ensemble-procedural is that in order to have a workable ensemble, the creators DO have to use some stereotypical models for their characters, and the numbers are seldom- if ever- going to be even reasonably accurate when compared to the gen pop of the country, etc.

I voted B, but there are acceptations. I've seen travel shows on places that have extremely low black populations, but the way the show was presented, you'd think half the population was black. And I stayed in Casper WY once which has almost no black people and there were three black people working in the news.

But for the most part, I think there is a good amount of blacks in the media, in respect to the whole population. The group I think is overrepresented are gays. It's like every TV show and reality series has to have at least one gay person now. I am done with The Amazing Race, because twice in a row gay couple made it to the final!

From my view point, both races black and white have been over represented in some form of way. White people in terms of movies and black people in terms of being a criminal. I think we need to stop focusing so much on race in general

One Black Panther movie doesn't offset almost every movie being basically entirely white. So no, I don't think black people are overrepresented.

If the Percentages don't reflect the current percentage in the United States, I say yes.

Also agree women should be represented by about 50.1%.
