Philosopher are generally morons. They avoid practical thought and application in favor of bickering over subjective opinions on ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, etc. and then have the audacity to claim they are logical thinkers. They’re basically pretentious religious art fags that want to be royalty just because they’re assholes that don’t want to do anything useful.
I think it holds philosophy on a high pedestal. But I agree that having room to dream and make changes is important and I think philosophy helps to do that
Plato was a wise man, im sure he knows what he's talking about.

I understood the sentiment, but I always disagreed with the importance.
It has some merit in that the king is now at least a deep thinker. Some philosophers are pretty loony though.
Well do philosophers necessarily have the people’s best interest in mind. Philosophers are a wide range of people and there isn’t one answer to how a government ought to run or what policy are just.
In the time of Plato it probably was true because it was the rich and noble who had access to philosophy and education.
I mean as an idea it's nice, I'd take it over most of modern day politics lol.
Nope. Im not in agreement with Plato when it comes to democracy.
I believe that it would be a good advertising stunt for his symposium and allegory! I'm sure the king would make everyone read them, and rightly so.
What is a philosopher?
