I remember seeing this on tv. I had the same exact feeling too. there's an emotional expression towards the young sometimes that leads to a kiss on the head or cheeck, but not like that. I still feel unsettled about that. The child doesn't have a freedom of choice to say no or move away. Corona virus will likely cause a recession. Our economy is losing ground every week. We are down half a % from last year already and he refuses to let go of his "budget surplus" which hasn't even happened yet instead of engaging in an economic situation plan.

Yeah it has been laughed about. He even addressed it in a recent press conference. On the climate stuff, he claims that we are ahead of our Paris agreement targets but will not commit to anymore. The opposition says we are actually increasing our omissions and the government are spinning the numbers. Australia is heavily reliant on the coal and other fossil fuels and Rae materials mining industries, yet the vast unused land could also potentially be used to create vast solar resources and even enough to mass outsource to the world the green left argue. I can potentially see this as a reality but it can't happen with the current government. In my opinion, a transition is needed or the country will become an antique nation.
sounds horribly similar to Europe... they lead us to believe they are acting on it but emmisions do still seem to rise when carbon credits are removed from the equation... as you say though if they took half the money they subsidize the fossil fuellers with and spent it on creating new industries in renewables there is a clear way out of the crisis... in the uk there is so much public pressure to do that its kind of being forced on the face of it, to go down that route but at the same time they are still pumping billions of tax payers pounds into the not so clean options too... its why we use the term greenwashing... they like to get greta up on stage so it looks like they are concerned and doing something about it but still emmissions continue to rise.
Yep it's a familiar story except our population aren't as ready to accept the truth. I won't go into fine detail but the political party who always win the rural seats are in coalition with the right of the centre popular parties and the former are lead by some extreme climate change denialists. It makes for a frustrating struggle to get much done on climate action among other environmental and humanitarian issues.

And they're not afraid to discuss local issues if they relate to national ones.
