Are we talking about comedians? Or regular ol people being funny? I would have to say that I find more professional male comedians definitely more funny female comedians. I do think that women in real life could be funny. I think it just depends on the subject matter. Also being quick-witted and timing have a lot to do with it. I've been around some females that are over the top with trying to be funny or say funny things to get attention and that is really annoying. It comes across forced. and like another opinion Giver said, a lot of people are not actually that funny to begin with. Even if you see people laughing at the things they're saying. And that goes for males or females.

I think girls are capable of being funny, it’s just not really a priority for us. Girls are kinda taught that being pretty is the most important thing, and we have a lot of ways of enhancing our looks. We can buy wigs/extensions, wear makeup, plastic surgery, and all that other stuff. Those things aren’t really socially acceptable for men, and so they tend to try make themselves more attractive by improving their personality and stuff. If you’re not handsome then you can compensate by being funny, or having money, or something like that.

It's basically true and there is a reason.
Women don't have to be funny.
Biologically women are attractive to men for other reason but men need to impress women, and making a female laugh is one of the best ways to impress her.

SO when women think they are funny, it is never funny like a male is funny, they usually find making fun of men funny. Find ONE comedian who doesn't bash men as a doorway to humor. ONE. You won't.
You will find men who can be funny without basing women, men make comedy about all sorts of stupid ass shit.

Yes and no. There are obviously some very funny women, and some very successful female comedians, and it's clear that women appreciate good humor, especially in man. That is, they find a good sense of humor attractive and sexy.

However, it is also a fact that, on average, women are not as funny as men. Men just seem to naturally have a better ability to make people laugh, and they are generally less inhibited and worried about offending people with humor.

Bottom line, there are not as many funny women as men.

people think that because our mainstream media purposely picks the shittiest female comedians and gives them all the spotlight they don't deserve. Like Amy Shcumer.
To those people I just say watch MoCollins, especially in this skit, but nobody knows who she is. Because today the only way people become famous is if the main media shoves them down our throat. Also Nicole Parker, Nicole Sullivan, Debra Wilson, Stephine Weir, Aridyn Myrin, etc.

I think that a lot aren't funny when they're trying to be funny. Unless it's on a movie or something. I don't know how to describe it. But the things some do are funny though.

For some reason, I find fat women to be funnier than non-fat ones. It's not a conscious choice, just something I've observed through the years.

Yes, not often at least. I have met and/or seen very few and select women that I have found to be effortlessly funny. Most seem like they try too hard or just don't have the right charisma for comedy the way that male comedians do have, Bill Burr, Chapelle, Gervais, Stephen Fry, John Cleese etc. But again, a few gold nuggets among women but it's somewhat rare.

As a generalization?
The simple fact is that men, more then women, are found funny by both men and women. There are people in human psychology fields and cultural studies, evolutionary sciences, etc, who believe that men are predisposed to humor to gain a mate: a funny guy who may be otherwise lacking can still use his humor to attract women.

I don't know, but I do know that estrogen is a depressant so it does cause female people to have less slack, or perhaps be a little more serious and abrasive.

Testosterone is a mood elevator and causes people to be stuck in a goofy-elevated mood. I notice it based on my diet, sleep and nofap status.

So, it could be funnier girls have higher than median testosterone and dull and dry guys have lower than median testosterone.

Funny is subjective. It is just that men won't get jokes about makeup, hair or any girl related topics. Women won't get bro jokes either. It is just that usually men aren't as shy about being rude, so you'll see them more often talking down on women than the opposite

And if a claim starts with "women/men are/aren't..." it's generally safe to consider it overly generalized steolreotypical nonsense. Also, humor is very subjective so I'm not sure there's also that.

I think there are a lot of women that are funny. I think the reason we view men as more funny is because men generally have to be funny and charming in order to be seen as attractive to women, thus there's more of an incentive for men.

That doesn't mean women can't be funny though. There are lots of women I've met that are funny

Admittedly, some aren't funny at all (i. e Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Ellen DeGenerate); some male comedians aren't funny either.

The issue is overall men's humor =/= women's humor.

They're funny and many different ways. kind of like for instance how a man can't remember anything but a woman can't forget. Or they're funny and weighs like those little bugs that live under rocks don't know they're ugly. Technically speaking it’s not true. Women are just as capable of being comedians but many just don’t want to pursue that type of career.

Others like Amy Schumer tend to not realize that the type of jokes she is telling is only going to attract half of the audience she could have gotten.

They can be funny, but definitely don't seem to be as inclined to be, and with some exceptions (obviously) don't do it as well as most men. I think there's several reasons for that. Mainly just how people normally behave though.

Girls are usually more serious (when I look at my friends and such) while guys think how hilarious they are but in real they're acting like fools.

While I haven’t met a girl in irl that I’d consider “funny” I’d say most are fun. YouTube has changed that though, Jenna marbles is a prime example. She is funny and I love her videos, they are extremely funny. It might also be the fact that she hasn’t relied on her looks, which just makes her feel like a good friend. So I do believe that women can be funny. It’s just that some guys see women only as, girlfriend material, wife material, or sex material. Instead of seeing them as another person.

Certainly some women are very funny, but on average they tend to be less funny than men. Probably because there's less reason for them to be funny. Most guys work on their humor to try to get girls. No guy has ever gotten with a girl because she's funny!

Honestly I tend to make others laugh especially girls, but girls rarely make me laugh. I think it’s because girls today are so focused on social media and tons of guys always messaging them that they don’t have to put much effort in making guys laugh.
