Saying patriotism is destructive to international relations is like saying valuing yourself is destructive in a relationship. I can love myself and not despise others, I can think that I have something of value, that I have worth, that I am a pretty awesome person without turning around and deciding that you have no value, that you have no worth, and that your a pretty worthless person.
Since when has being confident and knowing your value equals disrespecting others? Again, look at this as you would a relationship between two people. If a woman says she has value and she is a worthwhile person to be around and then the man turns around and tells her no she doesn't, she is a a terrible person for thinking of herself like that and she needs to stop being egotistical, would we consider that a healthy relationship or an abusive one? Now apply that to patriotism and nationalistic pride.

Why bother with international relations at all if the very notion of emphasizing separate and unique nations is so abhorrent? Patriotism is merely loyalty and sense of identity and belonging with your country on the grounds of culture, history, language and people. It's a sustaining force that legitimizes and undergirds the nation as a whole. And everyone has a right to feel patriotism. As long as that doesn't evolve into blind nationalism that doesn't just love their own country, but glorifies it unjustly, makes excuses for its flaws and belittles other nations and peoples.
Absolutely yes. You can't say "we're better than you" and expect a warm welcome. It's one thing to wave a flag at a sports event or on a national day but when people shove their patriotism in my face I want to push them over cliff. The worse are those who imply that if you don't support their cause then your not a real ( insert nationality)
Nationalism is the root of most modern evil, patriotism reflects nationalism so I don't think it's a good thing, especially when taken to extremes.

Patriotism is indeed toxic to international relations and I would say its actually toxic overall. No one benefits from having citizens biased towards their own country, it means that the country can act with impunity and no one will be there to call them out on their bullshit.
I don't think so.
International relations depends on the leaders and on economics.
Nobody cares what citizens think, say, or do.No it does not, that is the rhetoric of a weak minded person.
Patriotism is pride in ones country, and loyalty to it.. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
People who like patriotism are no different than the idiots in North Korea. Both are brainless sheep
Absolutely not , and those who say yes , hope y'all never go to Jamaica LMAO.
