America has no ties to "the Christian God." Only during the 50s were the words "under God" added to the pledge of allegiance. Yes, our money says "In God we trust." I think Americans believe money *is* their god. I've seen what greed does, it corrupts worse than power.
Please define "The American Way." Truth, Liberty, and Justice? Our politicians tell more lies than any other country (verifiable), we have insane laws most other countries don't have (zoning laws, taxing expatriates), and have the greatest number of prisoners (many for nonviolent crimes most other countries wouldn't care about). Those are demonstrably true, and prove the stated American Way is bogus.
Freedom - to do what, exactly? Of speech? Well, that may anger someone enough to hunt another person down and kill them. It happens in America, and seemingly rarely in other developed countries. Freedom to own guns? While I agree in a strong defense, Americans are brutish, selfish, uneducated people who try to force their opinion down the gullet of others. A right to bear arms was specifically meant to maintain order prior to the current police state we have. Besides, all the "good" weapons are highly regulated and restricted to police/military use, rendering the 2nd amendment vestigial and useless if the citizens wanted to rise against their tyranical regime.
The American Dream - This one is especially heinous in that 90% of the populace will never attain that goal (owning a home, steady job, and retirement). Most of the Millennials can't even afford a house, and the average age according to data on what they make and life costs, they'll *on average* afford their first house by age 71. By having a lack of savings, their children (if they have any, since Millennials can't afford children for the most part) will also suffer. All this means is the next generation will be few, and try to support a greater number of potential retirees. It's a recipe for failure. I'd like to add that most people I know work many hours, and much of it is unpaid. Highly illegal, but that's the American Dream I've seen and experienced. It is a game of the rich, for the rich, in order to further their plutocratic desires. The rest of us are simply pawns in their economic gains, too dazzled by advertisements and lotteries to realize how utterly terrible life in America is for the *vast* majority of people. We even have a 2/3 chance to enter bankruptcy for medical expenses, and are the only country in the world with that ideal. Better to die suffering than live homeless and die suffering anyway, right?
America looks like it is broken, but it isn't. It is functioning precisely as the rich and powerful intend. The American populace is chattel, to be broken and used until they die, and given some uninspiring speech to make it seem as though their lives meant something to anyone.
Ok boomer
Yet you talk like a boomer
I don't know any boomers who would actually defend millennials, so you're incorrect.
That I use correct English and punctuation, make a premise and add details is "talking like a boomer?"
You haven't made any kind of reply that isn't trollish and immature. Poor arguments and ad-hominems from you to try discrediting instead of engaging in real conversation.
Ok BOOMER...
Total boomer alright
What you talkin about boomer
Weak ass boomer
I know of toddlers who car argue better than you. I'll bring it down to your level.
I'm younger and smarter than you, as proven by repugnant, repetitive response. You have nothing to add to this, and never did. Sit down, shut up, and keep sucking at your god emperor's teat, sycophant.
Then what country is the best?
Wow @rickpen this is some really well written stuff, I hate to say it to you though I hope you are aware that you are talking with people that are too far down the idiot hole and they probably won't read past the first 10 words without having to call out to their mothers to ask what the little lines mean around the words Christian God and asking her to reassure them that they live in the best country on Earth π
I don't want to be rude, but my gosh you have to sometimes with people like this. Really good response @rickpen though, very sexy written piece you have put up here, you reinvigorated my hope that not all Americans are uneducated morons π
I love all the people who say "America isn't the best" REFUSE to answer the simple question "Than what country is". It might be the education system, but its most likely that they CANNOT objectively find a country that is number 1, other than America!
That or they just gibber on and troll about dog shit.
Psalm 127:1
Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman keeps awake in vain.
2 Chronicles 7:14
... if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
There's a lot wrong with the US, but there is a lot right, too.
If we are too proud, God could withdraw all protection and then we would be sunk quickly. It has happened to other nations before.
May God bless America and may America bless God.
@american_centurion
Why don't these people who don't like America go someplace else?
One of the worst things about America is we let commie America haters teach our children to hate America. If you want "free" medical, go to Canada already!
So many promised to move to Canada in 2016 yet didn't.
This comment is relevant to me because I did move from the USA back to my home country and yep, healthcare is paid for by our taxes that are the same as yours but yours goes to killing people whereas mine goes to saving people including myself when I had to have surgery
Much friendlier and much more caring society here, Americans are very indoctrinated and delusional and it is kind of frightening how your Government uses the guise of freedom to control you and you guys just eat it like a big mac
@HartleyB
Freedom isn't free.
When the Germans and Japanese were marching over lots of places, we weren't very prepared. When the USSR was more of a threat to Western Europe in the Cold War, we were there.
I don't think Eastern Europe would be free without us.
There'd be no South Korea without the US intervention.
There's no way Taiwan is independent apart from a US presence.
All that said, now that we're more or less energy independent, we should leave the Arab nations to themselves and we ought to let Europe and Canada pay for their own defense.
Damn this site gets depressing... I sometimes get hopeful that people aren't complete dumbasses but here you guys are proving me absolutely incorrect on that and making Americans sound even dumber than they are already stereotyped to be
Now you have me curious, in the last 12 years has there been a resurgence of lobotomies in the USA? Where did you get yours done?
Sorry for being rude, but God damn how can I not when the information is available to everyone now but yet you choose to ignore it because it doesn't agree with your preexisting biases
She is a troll. Sounds more like a Liberal American than a Spaniard. If you disagree or beleive in God you are "Uneducated" "Dog Shit" etc. Funny comming from someone too young to even have an Undergraduate Degree. The Spaniards I've known were really friendly, but if she is an indicator of what Spaniards really are, I am NEVER going near Spain!
@genuinlysensitive I think I picked up the attitudes in Kansas as a child
You're calling me a troll π have you read anything that you said or posted? Isn't it your little crew that always champions freedom of speech and triggered liberals or something?
@genuinlysensitive so we are friendly commies now here in Spain? Make up your mind are we trapped communist slaves or are we friendly? And I never said I had completed bachelor studies and never mentioned anything about believing in God so not sure where you pulled all that out of, maybe the same place you pulled the accusations of Spain being a migrant ruined, man hating communist country so maybe you should stop pulling ideas from wherever that place is
Keep trolling. Maybe after you at least get an Undergrad degree you will be able to do something other than troll like a gibbering idiot!
I don't think it is or ever has been. They just like to brag more than anyone else.
Apologies, I mean no offense.
The true measure of any nation, should be based upon how much poverty they have and how many homeless people there are.
A nation like usofa, where people cannot afford basic healthcare. People live off food banks but the government is happy to spend billions on war and stockpiling weapons etc.
It gets too political, surprised I have even risen to this post.
Grrrr!
People can afford healthcare just fine though Obamacare drove health insurance prices up.
Big pharma are responsible for the price rises, they have the govt in their pockets. Obama is just the fall guy, so they can keep justifying it.
Not just pharmaceutical but hospitals too as well as health insurance companies, they charge what they want especially if there is no competition because under law you have to buy health insurance
In the UK, we automatically contribute through our salaries each month. The NHS is one of the most amazing things, shame it gets abused.
Health care isn't affordable in America, otherwise they'd be like other countries which don't have 2/3 of their bankruptcies due to medical costs. Obamacare made a bad situation worse by allowing the poor to afford insurance for cheap, and middle class people much higher cost. Capitalism rules... where one can pay $200 a month for so-called insurance that has a $10k deductible, and that's the only option available because it's through the employer. If said health insurance isn't used, that still works out to $2400 a year for, literally, nothing. Tach on the $10k cost before insurance steps in to pay 50% and you have the beautiful cluster that is American healthcare.
Some people are too enamored with this country and "freedom" to educate themselves on how bad it really is. Or, conversely, they're rich and entitled, so they ultimately don't care and live in a fantasy world of "Murica."
There is a difference between being perfect and being the best. You can be the best, but not be perfect. You still have yet to answer my question "If the US isn't number 1, what country is?"
@genuinlysensitive agreed Daniel Larusso wasn't perfect but he was the best.
That you have honest hard working people who can choose a fantastic man as Trump as a president. I'd wish our population were just as lucky, and had the power to get a guy of the real working people as there president, rather than a well educated asshole , who only want to be a president for them high assed long educated People
Educated people suck.
Opinion

America is good, but it could be better.
I think America started as an innovative idea by giving people civil liberties and rights , and really inspired other countries to use that idea. Some things I think America needs to work on is wealth inequality and improving our education. The American dream right now is just a dream for a lot of Americans, and usually those who are born in a lower social economic level tend to stay at that level (there are exceptions, but going from poor to a millionaire is very rare).
Third world level poverty. People going bankrupt over medical bills. Armed right wingers taking over a state legislature. A president who has billed the US government so far about $134 million just for golf trips. The US losing the South China Sea to China, who just launched two more new aircraft carriers. The Pentagon just announced in every US-China war games scenario projected to 2030 the US will lose. A $24.7 trillion national debt. Eroding airports, highways, water and sewer infrastructure with no money to rebuild. The list goes on.
Pentagon still angling for more handouts then?
Than what country is the best?
I feel like most Americans are so ignorant about other countries. I see America as a 3rd world country with 1st world toys.
America is nowhere near the top on any list other than Corona virus deaths, poor healthcare, debt, and obesity. Sorry...
Covid is killing off the fatties I agree. Poor life choices mean bad consequences
How about median income?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median_income
Not bad for a "3rd world country"...
@I-am-a-nobody enough money to get obese.
@I-am-a-nobody Yeah too bad average debt is twice their income.
@american_centurion
"enough money to get obese."
"Yeah too bad average debt is twice their income."
Some bad life choices, but if you want, you can avoid debt and obesity.
So what country is number one then, overall?
@genuinlysensitive Lmao, you are asking like "if not America, then what who?" as if America was even a contender. According to almost any list it's the northern European countries, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, Sweden,, Norway, Germany, then there is Canada, Japan, UK, Australia...
America is a 3rd world country with a suit on. America's economy is really the only thing going or it, and even that only helps a very small percentage of actual Americans who live in poverty.
And America is losing credibility and respect at a very rapid rate.
So basically the best are either white majority countries or countries with almost zero immigration?
I mean that is also true for Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Albania, etc. and they aren't anywhere near the top countries... So if that is how you want to look at it, you are probably seeing correlation not causation. Also Canada obviously has both a diverse population and a lot of immigration...
Look at what is happening in America right now, how much further can this disgusting nation fall?
You still have not answered my questions. If America is not the Best country on Earth which one is and why? If you can't answer that feel free to go back under your bridge!
@genuinlysensitive Apparently Americans can't read either, there's another reason America isn't anywhere near the top. I did answer your question, and if you want to know more just do a simple google search, as I said, America isn't number 1 on any list.
Than what country is? I guess wherever you are the educational system as failed greater than you think the American educational system is as this is the THIRD time I asked you and you have failed to answer. Maybe because you can't objectively find a country that is!
So answer or go back under your bridge troll!
external-content.duckduckgo.com/.../
I'm American
@genuinlysensitive Refer to my answer 6 days ago and tell me who can and who cannot read.
You still have not answered the question. Which one is number one then, objectively? 4th time lol, shall we go for a 5th?
Clearly America is
@I-am-a-nobody It's still in 6th...
Nothing!!
Your legal system is flawed and a fucking joke.
You feed the masses an illusion of freedom but penalize one over the other.
You have the right to bear arms if you're Caucasian, Asian sometimes Latino but have a problem with Negros wanting them for their own protection, unless it's for extermination of they own communities.
Your the biggest human rights abusers but love to hide yours to highlight another countries who may one or two.
Your nation is built on genocide, slavery, extortion, exploitation of others and making lynching black people bigger the NFL Super Bowl.
Your thinking of Africa the biggest enslaved in human history.
Black people are free to own gun provided they dont commit crimes.
And whose foreign policy brought this to reality? Or who heads the diamond industry, oil and mineral extractions among the other first world nations? Your self-proclaimed arbitration causes more conflicts than there were originally.
No it was always the case. Africans always enslaved other Africans, it's a cultural thing.
Just look at Zimbabwe which was once the bread basket of Africa, now the people starve after all the whites were kicked out.
They're using your strategies on themselves the politics is the same it's just enforced by Africans elites to subdue the masses, these same elites love to live like their are royalty and want to rub shoulders with the likes of Trump and other international dignitaries and to achieve this they will starve their citizens or sell them into slavery get in the room of their colonial masters.
Slavery existed first in Africa so it's really African tactics. Africans have been doing this since the times of the ancient Egyptians 8000 years ago.
There's a difference between slavery in the BCE in Egypt and the chattle slavery of the 1600 to present, the latter separated family members by selling them off to other plantations and breeding farms and buck breaking as a deterrent to insurrection by the slaves; forcing a father to impregnate his daughter or a son his mother or sister to raise the stock to sell on the market or to work in the fields. The Egyptians never implement this on their slaves.
Lol that's exactly what they did. They bought slaves off Africans who brought them in slave trains from other African countries. Egyptians practiced incestuous marriages so it wouldn't be a big deal. African slaves did very well in the Americas.
You can't be serious!! From 1600's to the present day where did black people had it easy in America?
Nobody had it easy in the 1600s especially most whites.
And remember it doesn't count that America fought the bloodiest war in its History, specifically to end the Scourge of Slavery, and with the help of other Western Nations succeeded in nearly ending the practice World-Wide. Except in Sharia Compliant Muslim Countries that is. Fun Fact it was the Muslims that started the Global slave trade from Africa to other countries, because they beleived Black people "inferior".
It's crystal clear that everyone in the US would likely to say that America is great. As a foreigner I have to say that a lot of the idea and the so called American dream is not any longer coming to my mind nowadays. Still a lot of thinyto see to learn and to discover for sure in the US, but living there is not that much a target. America is great - yes, but from the outside perspective a lot of glory hot dismantled. Sorry. Hope you don't feel bullied
Coca Cola, Mc Donalds, Micky Mouse, Hollywood, grizzly bears, guns, rednecks, peanut butter, Halloween costumes, Walmart, termites, KKK, cowboys, truckers, bank robbers, cotton farming, country music, border 'walls', flags, anthems, baseball, ...
The greatest thing however: I am lucky enough to live somewhere else.
@andreasderjuengere
We, in the US, feel fortunate about you living somewhere else, too.
@I-am-a-nobody I dont know, if you look at countries like Thailand where the deliberately mutilate children to put them on the streets as disabled beggars.
@I-am-a-nobody That gave me a giggle :) It could be that each of us is the greatest... in our own and individual ways.
Centurion, you must confuse this with a different place. Typical for Thailand is that poor families allow their daughters to engage in prostitution (with customers mainly coming from the 'greatest' countries). Which mutilation case do you refer to?
I know what I saw when I was there, I talked to local thais and the explained it to me.
That surprises me. Which part of T'land was it?
Phuket but I travelled around. I've five brothers there teaching
@andreasderjuengere
Let's see... McDonald's and Coca Cola or child prostitution and mutilation of children.
Yeah, I can definitely see the moral equivalence.
You're right, who's really to say which is better than the other?
@I-am-a-nobody The ones who own the nukes (and threw them on others, possibly?) are always right :D I need to assume that no nation on earth can even get close to 'great' unless it has a spotless past.
Good to know that some are less great, right? My initial comment, by the way, intended to point at the petty symbolism of things that are relevant in only one's own environment. If 'Americans' are happy with America - it does not reduce my own happiness over here, so it's fine with me. I just wonder... if, let's say, Kenia specifies 'greatness...: would the U. S. (or Thailand) qualify?
It use to be because we started the industrial revolution and Developed the best technology, Not any more though, we have outsourced all of our innovation to other countries..
wasn't that Britain?
you're right, we just did it better what with our discovery of electricity..
We didn't discover electricity. We were the first to develop technology that ran on it practically
Thats kind of what i meant.
We were to the first to figure out how it worked..
Benjamin Franklin had one of the greatest scientific minds of his time. He was interested in many areas of science, made many discoveries, and invented many things, including bifocal glasses. In the mid-1700s, he became interested in electricity.
Up until that time, scientists had mainly known about and experimented with static electricity. Benjamin Franklin took things a big step ahead. He came up with the idea that electricity had positive and negative elements and that electricity flowed between these elements. He also believed that lightning was a form of this flowing electricity.
In 1752, Franklin conducted his famous kite experiment. In order to show that lightning was electricity, he flew a kite during a thunderstorm. He tied a metal key to the kite string to conduct the electricity.
English scientists were the first ones to name it electricity.
But was Benjamin Franklin really the first person to discover electricity? Maybe not! At the turn of the 17th century, English scientist William Gilbert established the science underlying the study of electricity and magnetism. Inspired by Gilbert's work, another Englishman, Sir Thomas Browne, made further investigations and wrote books about his findings. Gilbert and Browne are credited with being the first scientists to use the term "electricity."
All true though we dont know how much ancient knew
Right!! i watched the documentary once that said the first batteries were created 2000 years ago.. Though they aren't sure they are batteries based on design it appears they were batteries, because they had vinegar residue in them as well as copper plates and an iron rod..
Certainly possible. I'm not saying there was flying pyramids
Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Laika Studios... that's what I like about USA. However if I had to choose where to live for the rest of my life, I prefer many European countries before USA.

I don't think it is anymore. I think it used to be and maybe it can be again but currently I personally don't think I can say it is at this time.
Sorry to break it to you but America isn't the greatest country... Gotta pay sh! t tone of money for health care, education and everything else. I'm from Greece. In all European countries (or at least most of them) Healthcare and education are free. Also in American schools they teach you things only about America. The sad reality is that most Americans don't even know what France is for example... and also you have school shootings :/
Not true at all. School shootings dont compare to inner city shootings
Oh ok, phew at least I won't get shot at school I'll just get shot in the inner cities...
I think Americans are full of themselves and are blinded to the realities of the world, like people from china are pro China as Americans are pro America, Americans call them brainwashed but when Americans suck themselves off then they are just patriotic? What
She is just mad because she is in a Tyrannical lockdown right now, worse than any Blue State. Also, Spain is pretty much bought and paid for by Communist China.
@genuinlysensitive hahaha you guys are so sheltered and learn nothing about the outside world and you all sound brainwashed
I lived in the USA for part of my childhood and the education was terrible and it was like coming from a first world country here in Spain to a third world country there, the healthcare was terrible and unreasoonably expensive and my dad was close to suicide because of how cutthroat everyone in the workplaces were and stressful the conditions were
I strongly encourage you to leave your country for a while and realize that what you watch on your television and what you get fed on social media is pretty much all lies so that they can keep you working on $10 an hour for them for the rest of your life and if you try to escape you will be indebted until the day you die
Much love from Spain :)
Yes I want to live in a country that first ENCOURAGES man-hating rallies, then puts the ENTIRE population on house arrest! Maybe the one time a week you are allowed out to get groceries you will remember although we are not perfect even the Blue States are better than 1984 realized!
Despite all that the death rate in Spain IS STILL HIGHER than the US! What happened to all that "Superior" Healthcare? It should be a shoe in for a "First world" country with "First World" healthcare! I'm sure that justifies your 45% tax rate though!
I certainly hope you don't get evicted from your home in order to make room for "Migrants", because that is what a "First World" country does right? Seize people's homes for illegals?
@genuinlysensitive Jesus man, you sound like a moron with what you are saying... have you ever just thought? Like just thought about anything instead of just repeating something that you heard on television or on YouTube?
I think people like you are proof enough of a terrible education and healthcare system because you are most definitely uneducated for one, then on top of that you sound loopy and you should get psychiatric treatment but you couldn't because it'd cost you too much..
Anyway, make yourself comfortable in your parents spare room because it's your only choice there on your $10 an hour wage if that but stay patriotic and don't think to much cause it can make your brain hurty and we don't want that
Oh and you pay more for your healthcare than any other country soooooooo ya
Oh and ps if you can read the bottom of this message, HELP there are migrants running rampant with guns, the Chinese communist party is knocking on my door and I didn't get my day out to get the groceries this week ahhhhhh help me!!
Lol, at least you are funny! You are way off base, but at least you are funny!
@genuinlysensitive way off base just way off base yes I am way off base about the fact that the American public individually pays the most for the exact same healthcare products as any other country in the world, waaaaay off base about that fact
Anyway I am done it was fun talking to you, you guys are littered all over the internet like shits at a dog yard and you serve as much of a purpose as them too
Anyway I gotta get back to my master, my monthly internet allowance is coming to an end and we all know us Spanish slaves can't disobey the laws here, luckily I'm a women because our Chinese communist party hates men and we have another man hating rally soon so good luck with you freedom to ugh be impoverished and exploited I guess?
I take it back, you can't take a compliment, and you aren't funny. Have fun with your dog shit or whatever.
It is in so many ways and I can still say I love America.
I don't love what's going on and how things are falling apart for so long.
I fear...
I think America is fine but if i was poor it would be one of the last countrys i would choose to live in.
@someginger
Good. We already have enough poor people sneaking in.
I dont think its better than anywhere else honestly
The christian god is fiction, the American way is backward, the American freedom is myth, the right to bear arms is barbaric, the American dream is dead. So definitely none of the above and "more" is laughable. What makes it "great"? Coronavirus tops the long list for sure. Make death great again.
Yup - america is number one - highest covid 19 infection rates, highest illiteracy rates, highest scientific illiteracy rates, highest mass murder rates, highest gun death rates, highest rates of leaders kissing racist groups asses. Soooo much going for it.
" highest rates of leaders kissing racist groups asses" Did you get that from your Black Faced Boss?
external-content.duckduckgo.com/.../
@genuinlysensitive what? i couldn't hear shit over your sexist racist moron elected leader with his body-count.
@genuinlysensitive you still whining and butt-hurt over people calling out your president for his sexist, rapist, kkk fantasies?
Project much?
@genuinlysensitive yawning in boredom here. if you had anything worth painting me with you would have tried that already. You keep frothing at the mouth and spouting fantasies.
'murika is number one! Highest infection and death rates in the world! highest gun ownership and gun death in the first or second world nations, highest rates of illiteracy in the first world. Good for you.
Ohhh look, you've drooled and frothed on your shirt...
Yea at least in America we don't elect a racist blackface leader!
I wonder if Trudeau agrees that if you don't support him #youaintblack?
@genuinlysensitive
He'd have himself beaten and gassed if he saw himself in a mirror with blackface.
But boys and girls in the cess-pit south of us, I just heard your number 1 ranking in covid infections has been superseded by Britain... Not even number 1 in that any more.
Poor boo boos
Yea I guess he was lucky there were no mirrors around!
external-content.duckduckgo.com/.../
I think that the overt selfishness of Americans make it great. That, combined with more guns per capita than any other civilized nation in the world, the relatively low education, love of ignorance and dislike for scientific inquiry, the rampant rascism in the the US, the ever-increasing wealth gap- and a mobster president stoking all of the above-have created the greatest nation on earth.
Kind of like Rome circa 400AD
Rome brought civilisation.
it did? really? Do you really want defend this statement?
Germanic barbarians weren't banging at the door for centuries for nothing
that's not a definition of civilization...
A civilization (or civilisation) is any complex society characterized by urban development, social stratification, a form of government and symbolic systems of communication such as writing.
Civilizations are intimately associated with and often further defined by other socio-politico-economic characteristics, including centralization, the domestication of both humans and other organisms, specialization of labour, culturally ingrained ideologies of progress and supremacism, monumental architecture, taxation, societal dependence upon farming and expansionism. Historically, civilization has often been understood as a larger and "more advanced" culture, in contrast to smaller, supposedly primitive cultures. In this broad sense, a civilization contrasts with non-centralized tribal societies, including the cultures of nomadic pastoralists, Neolithic societies or hunter-gatherers, but sometimes it also contrasts with the cultures found within civilizations themselves. Civilizations are organized in densely populated settlements divided into hierarchical social classes with a ruling elite and subordinate urban and rural populations, which engage in intensive agriculture, mining, small-scale manufacture and trade. Civilization concentrates power, extending human control over the rest of nature, including over other human beings.
Civilization, as its etymology (below) suggests, is a concept originally linked to towns and cities. The earliest emergence of civilizations is generally associated with the final stages of the Neolithic Revolution, culminating in the relatively rapid process of urban revolution and state formation, a political development associated with the appearance of a governing elite.
looks like you got that out of a wiki article...
Actually, there is a WHOLE lot more to 'civilization' than external structure. If you care to discuss and not plagiarize wikipedia I'll be glad to converse.
Civilization existed long before Ancient Rome. I mean Cleopatra is closer in time to us than the Pharaohs who built the pyramids.
@Ad_Quid_Orator π π
@Ad_Quid_Orator Cleopatra was Greek and a vassal of Rome.
Yeah but the point remains that civilization existed long before Rome.
@Ad_Quid_Orator a lot of civilisation disappeared during the bronze age collapse. We dont know much about ice age civilisations.
Even between the Bronze Age collapse and Rome there were the Classical Greeks that preceded them.
@Ad_Quid_Orator Carthaginians, phoenicians, etruscans and that's only the Mediterranean.
Classical greeks spread civilisation along southern Europe all the way to Spain in the west and the black sea in the east, as well as asia minor and Mediterranean islands such as create, Sicily, corsica sardinia etc. Southern italy was a major Greek colony at one time.
That still doesn't mean that civilization started with Rome.
@Ad_Quid_Orator who said it did?
You said "Rome brought civilisation."
@Ad_Quid_Orator yes because it did, might not have invented it and may have been built on the bones of greek, etruscan and Carthagian civilisations but it still brought civilisation wherever it went from caledonia to germania to Africa, to the Balkans, Romania, Iberia, the black sea, Palestine etc
you lost the thread, your mind got cluttered...
Most of those areas already had civilization.
@Ad_Quid_Orator keep up your defense. Im with you...
No idea why i was invited to this. I'm not even a yank xD your country is run by a circus clown, same as ours 😂
Lmao it just isn't. So many countries are better, safer and probably have more freedom.
What countries?
I mean USA isn't even on the top 10 safest countries in the world the safest being Iceland. Nor is it in the top 10 freest countries, the top being New Zealand.
Iceland unless you have down syndrome...
So what you are saying is that only countries with a white majority are the best?
No? Not sure where you got that from. However, USA is a white majority country...
Only 60%. Are you saying the more whites the better the country?
Dude I was just telling you the top countries from a study. Was not my personal opinion.
So why does it support white supremacist ideology?
It doesn't a lot of the places on the list are culturally diverse places. Just so happens that a lot of European and European colonized countries are the safest and the freest, possibly because there is a helluva lot of them. Japan and Singapore are also on the list.
@genuinlysensitive I donβt know much about Iceland. Wouldnβt having Down syndrome suck anywhere?
@genuinlysensitive I would rather be dead than have Down syndrome.
That's a bit extreme. Iceland has such a small population and only have literally one or two down syndrome children. So I guess not a lot of peer support?
However since 2000 it seems that most women have terminated their pregnancy when they found out their unborn baby has ds
It isn't far from it. I don't know which is but I would rank many European countries above US, I would put Canada above it also.
So basically you rate majority white countries only as the best?
If Canada is skin great why did justin bieber flee to America crossing the st Regis river with his back still wet?
Justin Bieber is the greatest living Canadian
he's made acceptable to be Canadian in social situations.π¨π¦
No seriously until Justin bieber came along Canadians had to ride at the back of the bus but now Canadians and Canadian culture athletes and music are widely celebrated.
How so? We love Canadians even that guy who always dresses in blackface
Different times I guess but we no longer discriminate against Canadians thanks to Justin Bieber
Adam1978 howngreat is it
We have your justin bieber, Canada is finished
Adam1978 Do you live in America now? It is hell here people destroyed places oh and Texas people are allowed to carry guns in the car.
Tf does Justin Bieber matter he isn't that great One direction is better wish they were back.
@Amazingprincess Bieber is a demigod
Riots is not completely unheard of but it's limited to a few nazi event many years back and it was handled quickly and was over within a few hours. It wasn't much different to soccer fans creating havok and getting shutdown. It's simply not acceptable behavior and is never spreads beyond the group that starts it.
People in there believe in me! They don't even question my holly existence and they even sacrifice their new born babies for me! What else can a God ask for?
After America won the WWII, its military power became most powerful. Other things came with it. It is most powerful country but not the best for human rights and needs.
Investing ridiculous amounts of money into the military instead of caring about the wellbeing of its citizens, supporting coups, ridding elections or destroying other countries by war or crippling their economies makes america superior to other countries when speaking about power.
Other than that america kinda sucks to be honest.
The US military guarantees the Pax Pax Americana around the world. Your welcome.
Nothing it's not the greatest nation in the world that's just lying in the media
Than what country is the greatest?
It's a country, not a nation
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,"
Um, cheerleaders? That corrupt asshole at the DoJ? President Drumpf?
LOL, The American way is actually lack of truth, fake liberty and injustice... typical for imperialists, that's why I voted G 😁
It's not nearly as good as many people think.
@I-am-a-nobody Jealous of what exactly? Of your healthcare system that lets people die if they don't have money? Of how little mental health is treated seriously? Of how part of the skills you must learn in schools is dodging bullets? Of how ludicrous your defense budget is? Of how you send your own men to die in shit hole countries just for oil? Of how mad your politics are and how people hate on each other for their political opinions? Of how widespread SJW mentalities are?
@I-am-a-nobody agreed. Socialists need barb wire to keep their citizens from running away
@YHL6965
I don't think I've ever heard of anyone turned away from medical care.
We basically subsidize pharma around the world.
Regarding money, there are few with a higher median income.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median_income
Regarding defense, I agree, we should let Europe defend Europe. About 5 nations are keeping their NATO pledge of 2% of GDP on defense.
www.nato.int/.../20190625_PR2019-069-EN.pdf
I agree... I'd always wanna go to America when I was little... now I'm here... now I wanna go home
@I-am-a-nobody Yeah but the prices of medical care are absolutely ridiculous compared to Europe for example. So my concern is, what if someone will not survive without medical care but they don't have the money? Will they just be left to die?
@TheLittleInnocent Aww, that's sad. Where are you from initially?
Uganda... Its a small country in East Africa.
@TheLittleInnocent
I can't imagine many places in America are worse than Uganda!
@I-am-a-nobody When I compare the quality of living back home to here it was better there at least for me personally... Im not aware of the situation of ever single Ugandan but I'm quite certain many who have had the same experience as me would agree
@TheLittleInnocent
OK. As the saying goes, be it ever so humble there's no place like home.
@I-am-a-nobody Being turned away from medical care happens, but it isn't mentioned. As a child, I grew up *extremely* poor in a midwest state. My family had zero insurance. For seven years, if we were ill, we didn't go to the doctor. I had a series of bad accidents (being hit by a car, for one), and broke my tailbone, elbow, tore ligaments holding my rib heads in place, and needing stitches in my head. Aside from the stitches, I was turned down for medical care because of no insurance or money to pay up front. 7 years of that situation made me painfully (literally) aware of the American medical system being for profit. I once had an anaphylactic shock to some food. Unknown allergy (couldn't be tested because we couldn't afford it). Thankfully we had some benedryl around, and I took a boatload of it. I was 8 at the time. Also, broken elbows stay painful and have tendinitis. It killed some of my job potential. But... endless opportunity (to suffer) in America. Yes, I'm cynical, but wanted to at least reply to your opinion to give you at least one anecdotal response to prove (in a small way) that yes, people don't get medical treatment when they're poor.
Nothing. I love my country but it's not the best.
Then which country is the best?
Personally I like countries better that don't ban trans people in the military, and countries that aren't filled with people who vote based on what the snowflakes are saying next. Soooo... lemme think, I mean I have been toying with the thought of moving to Quebec. They're lgbt friendly and are pro cannabis. True freedom. And where I'm at, a greyhound ticket is cheap. Only problem is getting a job, an apartment, and citizenship. Oh and getting my stuff there.
Lmao the same country that have more mass shootings than holidays , my ass.
Britain the country that has more bombings and knife attacks my ass
Itβs not the greatest nation
@hknmhmn4
If it's not the US, what nation is?
@I-am-a-nobody no nation
@hknmhmn4
So, there are about 200 tied for last place?
Why can't we say one is better than all the rest?
@I-am-a-nobody It depends on the person, for example I am an Austrian and Austria is the greatest nation in the world for me. But Germany can be the greatest nation for a German.
@hknmhmn4
I disagree, but fair enough.
