They're putting innocent lives and people's livelihoods in danger. But the media and all of these influential celebrities are like, "Riots are the answer! Keep going! If they didn't listen to us before, they are now!!" The pandemic is worse enough. We don't need people to be burning properties of innocent people to make it even worse.

I don't like it either but the point they're making is so middle aged white (I'm assuming) people like you can for 30 or 40 minutes feel the same infringement on your rights that they feel every single day. Think about how angry you might be with that brief delay on a highway and your rights being infringed upon and what that feels like for you and how angry and frustrated it gets you and then think about what that must be like for some people to experience that every day of their lives. That's the point. And for the record, I am in no way condoning violence or looting.

What does stealing shoes and protesting for equality have in common? Nothing. They're stealing these items, so that when the protests are over, they can sell them on Ebay or Amazon to make money. If they were really protesting, they would be burning only law enforcement buildings. They wouldn't be breaking into shoe stores.

@Asker I don't necessarily disagree with you. Looters seem to always accompany protests like these. Most of the time, they're not part of the protests and they're not being done by the protesters who are there because of the cause, because they're protesting injustice. These looters are criminals who see an opportunity to steal under the cover of protests or are extremists and anarchists from each end of the spectrum, including some that are white and see this as an opportunity to start the race war they've wanted for many years. The problem is when the question gets asked... why are the protesters doing that? Most of them aren't. It's these opportunists who are blending in with the protesters and using tham as cover to do their criminal activity.

Again that is not what this is about. Sure, they could have prevented it temporarily by not committing police brutality but that was just what sparked an already brewing conflict. As I said people have been demanding change for literal decades without any concessions at all. The less concessions they get the more they will demand and the more violent they will demand it. What could once perhaps easily have been solved with a small show of gesture has grown into something much larger that demands a much larger change to be satisfied.
