I use masks but I don't like them I just have them so I'm not kicked out of stores. There totally useless. Sure thay do provide a minor amount of protection but not any where near what people think. Masks have openings on them sure they cover your mouth and nose but the sides aren't sealed. and covd19 can be cought by your eyes and ears which are not covered. As well as open cuts. And other places. Who knows what the person next to you may have done before that put there mask on. If your in public the person next to you may have picked there nose before leaving the car. What good will a mask do for that. If you are that parnoid of the virus get a full body suit and a sealed gas mask with a filter. That's going to do much more then a paper mask will.
Am sorry did you not read my entire message. Let me be more clear. Masks are not seald on the sides air just like electric takes the path of least resistance every time you cought or breath all that exists out of the sides of the mask only a portion of the bacteria is stoped try it yourself. As well as I stated before you can get infected in your eyes and ears and open cuts which are not covered. You don't know what the person next to you may have done before they enter a store they could have covd19 all over there clothing and hands. then touch the same surface as you.
Again masks are to protect other people from you. So if everyone wears a mask we are all more protected. Take a look at Hong Kongs numbers. One of the most densely populated places but only had just over a thousand cases because most people there wear masks on a daily basis.
I'm sorry but I disagree there are many more factor's to take into account masks aren't the only reason for the numbers going down. Hong Kong is just one of many places. I understand where your coming from maskes can help lower the spred but not as much as the news and all these paid professionals say. The only mask I would trust is an actual sealed gas mask.
I mean yeah there's little to no studies about how effective it is and the studies that there are a with very small numbers. However, it's just a mask if there's a chance that it can decrease the spread even the tiniest bit we should all use them.
Now your starting to understand. Thanks for actually taking what I said into consideration instead of doing what most do when there idea is challengeed which is pretend I'm stupid and say I lie about everything.
I do understand where you are coming from. There is evidence that it does make a difference and since people are so bad at social distancing I think taking any step to protect yourself and others is a good way to go.
There are two big reasons why I don't wear a mask most of the time.
1. My job doesn't provide them. I'm not in the business of taking money out of my paycheck for work related needs when I already get paid chump change and work retail.
2. People come into my store for convenience. They can get the services we provide at home or they can literally go to any other location that is better equipped for their demands. They just come here because of location. We're understaffed and have poor management/training, but people just come to our store and yell at us over and over. I have a lot of confidence in my immune system, so I'm willing to go bare if it keeps one or two assholes out of my store.
I don't want to protect the people that come into my store... after working in retail for a while, I wholeheartedly believe that the little amount of comfort I receive from not wearing a mask is more important than the Karens that make a job that's SUPPOSED TO BE EASY extremely miserable. I don't get to go anywhere other than work, but on the off chance I do, I wear a mask out.
It’s not a requirement in Australia due to such a low rate and practically zero community transmission... so I’ve only had to wear one when going to the hospital to get tested when I was unwell. If it was a bigger scenario here and medically recommended I’d have no issue wearing one whenever out. When things were more restricted here we just stayed home (as did everyone) which lowered our cases even more
I am high risk immunocompromised with a heart defect on top. I always wear a mask everywhere I go. Sadly, I still have groceries I have to buy, and doctor appointments I have to attend. I can't just stay home when I have things I have to do. You won't see me at a park, the hair salon, or other nonessential places like that though.
I had bronchitis real bad last year. Its hard to breathe with one on. I hyper ventialate and stop breathing. Plus doesn't help me breathe. I still do part but forcing masks on people is a joke. My opinion making people do something that really doesn't help is a problem.
At work or in a store? Yes. At home or on my car? No.

I only wear a mask in the stores or if i see a cop; other than that i just walk around like normal. I'm not scared of getting corona virus because it only kills old people and people with preexisting conditions, so idgaf.
It's still a horrible virus that causes even the youngest healthiest people to be intubated and the fact that you don't care about other people is just sad. If you had the flu you would stay home to prevent others from getting it right? This is a virus that in a lot of cases is asymptomatic so you should do the right thing and do what you can to protect other people from getting sick.
The more people who don't follow instructions the longer this will go on.
Actually The only ones getting sick are weak and old people. Literally 2 groups that are better off dead. Actually doing this makes it go on longer. Because if you stop people from getting it you never get herd immunity. Just let the weak and old die if you cannot live you deserve death. Everyone gets herd immunity like every other virus throughout human history without destroying the economy that's going to have far worse repercussions than you can ever imagine.
Just wait and tell thanks to the hyperinflation of United States dollar there's no way to pay for social programs anymore everyone who relies on Any form of social program is going to die thanks to your decision to destroy the economy to protect some weak and old people
This is untrue. Healthy people are getting sick. Children are getting sick. A new born baby fucking died from it. It is not ONLY old and weak. Herd immunity starts when the vaccine does. We don't know how this virus evolves. Herd immunity is about protecting the weak. We get vaccinations so the majority of us stay healthy to keep those who cannot get vaccinations healthy.
Go look at the percentage of the aid group you're so crying about of kids and stuff it's a fraction of a percent. Herd immunity just requires about 80% of people of to have antibodies either from a vaccine or from getting that before it does not start when a vaccine does it starts when that happens. That is why we're actually slowing it down. And if it evolves that means it will never end even with a vaccine because you'll need a new vaccine Again proving why it's best just to let the weak and old die.
