Lincoln was a very conflicted man when it came to dealing with the states and slavery, versus his own personal and moral views. Even after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, there was still legal slavery in 4 Northern states. The declaration freed slaves specifically in these areas, and as you can see, there were exceptions!

Some believe he didn't go far enough and that it was politically motivated, but at least he went as far as he did. I think some of the statues are inappropriate and should come down, like the one in Boston, but not all of them.

BLM/Antifa want to cancel Lincoln because he did not consider blacks to be the equal of whites, and he said as much specifically. He also famously stated multiple times that if he could preserve the Union without freeing a single slave that he would do so. The cultural and historical purgers of today insist on holding historical figures like Lincoln to standards of today rather than those that existed during their era. That's a bar that almost no historical figure can clear.
