Why do conservatives think lincoln freeing the slaves makes them exempt from being called racists?

Its Strategic. The conservative south are historically traitors that created a failed state yet manipulate more power today in the USA then a decent democracy should allow. It's a way to have there cake and eat it too.

Good place to start is the swich of party names to values that we know today. That's why i started with conservative south, because modern Republicans give credit to democrats for the start kkk but it was by Tennessee southern conservatives.

Then we got "Daughters and granddaughters of the Confederacy" organization duringthe Civil rights movement. That lobbyed southern state government. Civil War WASN'T about slaves but state rights. Lincoln was a national republican and our proudest president while sucking off on Confederate Generals as true Americans even if they left to lead a failed state. Too Have their cake and eat it too.
