Is it normal that USA has never have a female president?

I don't know why the US is stuck on men-only presidents. I was amused by watching a video of Republicans whereby a *woman* said that she didn't think women should be leaders because [we] are too emotional and would just start wars based on being unable to control [our] feelings. The person conducting the beat interview said, "Haven't all the wars in the world in history so far been started by only men?" She got all quiet and just shrugged.
I think there are parts of the US that are hiding behind values that were once in place two hundred years ago, that it's become their comfy chair and they don't want to leave it. They don't want to move forward because they think things are fine the way they are. The irony is, they are also pretty vocal about change in government, which is evolving every four years - if they haven't noticed. Women have been taking seats in leadership in the senate, as governors, as members of congress, yet that seems to be alright for most - just as long as they don't take the biggest seat of all. So far, if the men are screwing up, why not give a woman a shot and see what she does - or are they afraid she might just be good at it? ;)
No one should get a job merely for their gender, and if you want to blame anyone, then blame women since hey only make up a small minority of politicians, let alone ones who decide to run for president. I mean, we DID have Tulsi Gabbard run in 2020, but any woman who doesn't align with someone's specific politics, "doesn't count," so Tulsi was written off despite being the most deserving, qualified, intelligent, bipartisan, and rational person to run for the position in three terms now. I supported her 100%, but she chose the wrong party to run in.

So yeah, I'll say it again to defeat all the brain-dead feminist logic, but you can't give women freedom of choice and society and then whine when those women don't choose all the most powerful and competitively cutthroat positions in society that specific feminists want them to choose, but would never actually do themselves. I never heat anyone complain about there not being more female sewage workers, electricians, sanitation workers, plumbers, or construction workers, though. Gee, funny that. It's like they only care more about the power and not the supposed "equality," isn't it?
Now just waiting to hear why from OP and other feminists why women having free choice in society to do what they want and why we shouldn't advocate or literal Communism to force women into positions they aren't choosing of their own free will and/or unqualified for, is all men's fault, somehow. I'd say feminists don't actually respect women or women's choices, but that'd be like calling ice "cold."

I don't think it matters.. Even if Barack Obama never became President, I wouldn't wouldn't at this point and stage.. It's not about identity politics It's about who will help the American people. Maybe besides a few there hasn't been a woman candidate who has shown herself able to do it.. But there isn't only the office of President there's been plenty female of Government officials, mayors, Governors, Secretary of States, Comptrollers, House Representatives, etc of influence positions women have been put in.. Tulsi Gubbard was a decent pick on the Democrats side but she wasn't radical enough for them.. Women are most of the voters and yet they don't care to pick a woman candidate just cause she is a woman.. She needs to be able to talk the talk and walk the walk..
Some of the countries on the list are not otherwise particularly friendly to women. And that's something to be kept in mind: having a woman as president does NOT guarantee that the life of the common woman will improve. For example, both Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria were female, but women didn't necessarily have many rights under the reign of either. While this map does not include monarchies, many female heads of state in the underdeveloped countries on this map actually came to power just because they were daughters of the previous president, i. e. just like a monarchy. For example, in India, the female leader was Indira Gandhi, who came to power just because she was the daughter of Nehru, the previous leader.

Typical, but not “normal.” Our society is going to have to suck it up buttercup and deal with a woman president one of these days.
If Sweden hasn't had a female leader yet, but India has, what that tells me is that having a female leader is not a good indicator of how "progressive" a nation is, and rather, it's completely incidental. So it's stupid to fixate on it.
If Covid-19 kills Kim Jong-un and his sister takes over, will you be singing praises of North Korea for its "progressiveness"? No? Then it doesn't mean jack shit, and we should just continue electing who we think are the best leaders, regardless of sex.
Honestly, a candidate who is exempt from fighting for the country should be exempt from running the country.
Do you really want a woman who for her whole life has been exempt from fighting for her country in case of war to be elected President, who would then have the power to declare war, where she could possibly reinstate the male-only draft, which would send only men to fight the war that she started?
Let's face it, women can vote for a warmonger knowing full well that if it comes down to reinstating the draft, it'll be men risking their lives and not them.
The USA had the opportunity to elect a highly qualified woman (& one of the most qualified candidates ever) in 2016, and she did get 3 million more votes than the seditious idiot in there now. Unfortunately, there are just too many backward states with too many misogynists & too many ignorant people for a woman to be elected at this time, because those states have too many electors, which is why we need have the popular vote determine the presidency.
I say this because democrats are self-destructive & devour their own. They would rather fight amongst themselves for their bullshit ideals than unite for the good of this country & vote intelligently & responsibly; meanwhile, the republicons unite behind the Idiot-in-Chief & give him the second-highest vote total in history: 74 million votes.
well america will have more female runners in the future most likely, like Harris and Aoc come to mind. But will anyone vote for them is more the question which i don't think so cause there is still a lot of Conservatives. And Hillary tried. There has been female leaders in america history just none have been president and mostly to do with just one state in america.
Look at this chart got confused then said not including monarchs ah gotta say because Russia actually had some of the best female leaders ever but they were queens.
Sweden and New Zealand should be colored in too.
Is it normal? Unfortunately yes. Of course the bigots will say that the "right woman" will get their votes, but the "right woman" will be determined by a goal post set to the stratosphere so as to prevent such a thing from occurring in practice. It's essentially bigotry by appeal to a common standard: "I'm not sexist, I just hate opinionated arrogant corrupt people, men included. But what constitutes an arrogant man is very different from what constitutes an arrogant woman".
Yeah, and Sweden's lovely feminist government turned it into one of the rape capitals of Europe in about four years, all in the name of diversity i. e. immigration.
I voted for Tulsi and Warren was my backup. I'm sad China, North Korea, and Iran have no female leaders though because they are my favorite Asian countries. But France and Portugal, two of my favorite European countries, had female leaders. Not Italy though which is my third favorite European country. Also surprises me that the Netherlands and Sweden never had a female leader because I see them as example countries. But glad that Denmark had a female leader since it's like my fourth or fifth favorite European country alongside the Netherlands. Also I like Finland and glad to see they had a female leader one time too.
Just wish Iran, China, North Korea, and the U. S. could have a female leader as well
That's expected if less women study politics and majors more guys are in. In addition, Hillary Clinton tried running for president but wasn't a good candidate. She deserved that loss.
To have a female president, she would have to meet exceptional skills and capacity to lead. She will not get elected just for being a woman.
Is it normal that the US is the only nation in the entire world to have elected a minority person as president (and they did it twice) by the ethnic majority? I mean its 2020 but still we are the only ones (probably because every one else is racist right?).
Yes, it's very normal. You'll notice most countries on that map have not had a female leader. And America has never had one. Even the nations that have had a female leader are historically recent developments. So not having one is more normal than having one. Having a female leader is still unusual.
I wouldn't say either normal or un-normal. It just so happens that we couldn't find a single woman that's actually qualified to be president of the US regardless of their gender, until recent years. I thought Tulsi Gabbard would have made a very good president or VP but instead we get Kamala Harris as VP for Joe Biden, who's notorious as a corrupt Attorney General of California, incarcerating many black men for non-violent crimes like possession of marijuana and keeping them past their prison release dates.
There is not any one person or entity that is trying to keep women from becoming president. When a good qualified person who is a woman comes along and convinces enough people that she should be the president then that’s when we will have a female president but so far that hasn’t happened but it’s not because anyone has gone out of their way to stop that from happening.
we women in the USA are to busy taking care of - our house , families , church activities our children and other things men can not do - ! why should we women bother to run and become the President of the USA? let the men do something occasionally besides pester the women in their families to be their slaves ( ya right ) , no way ! thanks
So all men do in life is pester female family memb... I mean, slaves to do things - apparently anything domestic - because they're incapable clods unknowing of the 'unpaid labor' - cleaning the house, taking care of the family, and participating in church activities (all now sold as 'unpaid labor').
I mean, it's obvious the men gleefully skipped to work for a mere thirty years or so and were usually pampered blue collar jobs at peaceful foundries, lounging around automotive plants and enjoying toasty environs of meat-packing plants. Hey, at least your oppression is free of rent.
Slowly we are breaking all the barriers for people of different sexualities, gender identities, religious affiliations, ethnic backgrounds and so on. It's bullshit that here in the US a woman running for POTUS is met with more scrutiny than a man, especially if said man is white.
Personally I think Biden is only going to have 1 term and Kamala Harris will run the Democrat ticket in 2024, and I will be voting for her if this come to fruition.
I don’t view it as a gender problem. I view it as a two party political system problem. There are a lot of women leaders that I think ally of people would vote for. But we just never get the chance because the two party system is so entrenched and has complete control over who is offered to us. I would vote for Tusli Gabbard or Kristi Noem tomorrow!!! But I’ll never get the chance because they would both get crushed in the primaries by the establishments.
So? We don't have a 300 foot tall banana in the middle of Iowa either… The presidential campaign is competitive when Democrats don’t commit wide scale fraud to try to fix the thing. If you want to win, you have to compete with those who want the same office.
Get more females trying to be president. As you said, it's 2020, sex doesn't matter, just can you do rhe job? All the old racist people have died out by now. Don't vote based on something stupid like they don't have a penis or their akin colour is like mine. It's whoever will benefit the country the most.
Yes we should emulate countries whose leaders are of color — which third world nation should we choose?
Nearly every candidate except Donald Trump, has been a shill for whomever owned him. Men are generally better at running businesses and countries — that is demonstrably true. Having someone with a vagina or dark skin merely fulfills your strange neurosis but it does nothing to advance civilization
Does it matter? If a woman wants to do the job she has to have the same chutzpah as a man. Hilary has it, but she's fucking evil. If she was a better person I am sure she would have won, but she is evil.
Nah, not normal. The U. S. tends to lead to towards men, which is weird cuz it's almost always white dudes in their 60's- but i see no issue with a female/nb prez. But also there are the people who would vote for a person ONLY because of gender and that's dumb too lol. Vote for QUALITY candidates!
President Harris 2024 🤩😍🎉
So? Why the fuck does it matter? As a woman I would rather not have a female president, seeing how Hillary was when she tried to run. So no, stop crying about it
Thank you
President shouldn't be chosen by the genitals they are packing in their pants. Hillary was a terrible option to become a president. It's not about women or men. It's about who would be more honest and get the job done.
Whenever one who isn't a lying psychopath runs for office, I'll vote for her if she's a good candidate.
Also for what it's worth, by the time the primaries even make it to my state, the party candidates are pretty much set in stone.
Well you can't bet on a horse that isn't in the race.
Hillary Clinton is the only one i know of who ever ran and I can't imagine why anyone would want her to be president even if you are going to just make fucking god awful choices anyway.
I mean, you had to choose between two grandpas that have no idea about the latest generations and their problems. That should tell you that you aren't given the best choices to begin with. Wouldn't be bothered that your two bad choices are of a certain gender, would be more bothered about there being two bad choices.
Of course it's "normal" when you consider the history of our country and women literally weren't even allowed to *vote* at a time when a lot of our current living relatives were alive.
Once again, most men (white who didn't own land) couldn't vote either until two years before women could, and men were required to register with Selective Service to become eligible for a military draft for that right. Women were given the right to vote without any requirements or obligations.
Yes, you've come a long way in a short time.
Your country seems to struggle to produce any creditable candidates for president, regardless of sex. Such people are rare.
Sooner or later, a credible woman will come along with enough charisma to win over detractors or enough money to bulldoze through them.
What country are you from since you want act like you know it all when it comes to our politics.
Yeah. U. S. is backward. Women have only been VOTING 100 years. They couldn't even hold office before then, in most cases. Certainly not nationally. So, no. it's no surprise.
Um, most men (white who didn't own land) in the country didn't have the right to vote until 1918, a lousy two years before most women. And womens' voting rights were given to them without the same (or any other) obligation that was required of men for their voting rights, which was to register for Selective Service to make oneself eligible for a military draft.
I notice women know exactly when they got the right to vote, but either have no idea when men got theirs or know, but strategically fail to mention it because you can't stretch two years into eons.
What isn't normal is how morons think choosing someone of a different gender will make things better, all the while claiming people shouldn't discriminate based on gender
well, Harris is soon to be one since Biden is going to die of age pretty soon, and because people usually like what the men are saying vs the women, nowadays that might have changed though.
I have no problem having a female president, but I don't want one just for the novelty of it. I'll be just as picky with her as I am about a male president. I want a female president who is more like Golda Meir or Margaret Thatcher. Someone who is a strong willed patriotic America loving conservative woman.
No, it's not normal I believe they should be given a chance
It's normal for the USA ! There are a lot of dumb folks here. Look at the outgoing President. People would rather elect an idiot because he's male than a smart woman, because in the end, she's a female.
Way too many insecure manbabies on the Right for that.
They cried and screamed about a woman taking over a lead role on a tv show...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We will have a female president within a generation.
We SHOULD have had one in 2016, but the Electoral College prevented that.
US will if Biden wins. They will impeach him, kill him, or deem him unable to fulfill his duties and replace him. God help us when this happens. We will be a Socialist centrally controlled government. It will be the end of the US.
Tells you the real value of females, in the USA. Past all the equality bullshit, the USA doesn't have much regard for Muslims, Women or Jews.
The US will not hesitate to elect a female president if she is the most qualified candidate. Hell, they almost elected Hilary Clinton and she was one of the most dishonest and unlikeable candidates in the history of the US.
We had one - Hillary Clinton - but we have this pesky thing called the Electoral College so #traitorTrump was sworn in instead.
yeah we have this pesky thing where we want every state to have representation, not just a bunch of idiots in a few states that always vote the same every time.
@Abtraction You are right of course. That’s why we have a Republic and not a true democracy. Anon doesn’t seem to know the difference.
By this time in history, no. I mean, the U. S. didn't even allow their own women who are citizens to vote at one point which is ridiculous to deny something basic right to a citizen of your own nation.
Most men (white who didn't own land) couldn't vote either until two years before women could, and men were required to register with Selective Service to become eligible for a military draft for that right. Women were given the right to vote without any requirements or obligations.
So glad all those women who marched for equal voting rights were honorable enough to see that we didn't have equal responsibilities for the same right and sought to rectify the situation... by not doing a damn thing except prove how full of crap they were.
It is just a matter of time. I'm already rooting for Tulsi Gabbard for president in 2024.
Yes, it simple that there has not been a female candidate that the people of the USA want in office
The problem is the political parties. They nominate crappy candidates. There are probably dozens of women who would make a better president than someone like Hillary Clinton. But if they don't bow to the wishes of the establishment and the party insiders, they never get nominated to the general election.
Then your system is broke
You are correct
But I still have some optimism that it can be fixed.
Biden will be out for some reason within the year, he never wanted to be president he want her to be the president
Hoping Nikki Haley will run for president next election.
In a country where the military is super important, it's not at all surprising.
As long as it's military that needs the highest funding, it's likely to remain that way.
@Girther10 The president of the US is the commander-in-chief of the army. Do Americans see a woman as having the grit, and non-emotional ability to make decisions about the military? Many don't, that's why US hasn't had a woman president yet. But it may change in soon, Hillary Clinton almost made it, and even won the popular vote.
When the only options have been evil and morally bankrupt ones it makes sense.
Gender doesn't matter, man or woman the US needs and Asian president.
Well for the longest time the usa only had old white guys be president.
That to me already is kind of weird.
Well, America had the opportunity to change that in 2016, but opted instead to elect an oversized, orange, man-child. So... that one is on them.
I think the main problem is the lack of female candidates
Have no clue. Why don't you ask all the female voters who didn't put Hillary in office.
American love to vote in male rapists, pedophiles and corrupt people that pretend to be good people. Most Americans are basically retards.
Nothing ever gets done and they still repeat the same fucking shit.
We're stuck voting for candidates that actively run for office, pretty much like any other country with elections.
You've never had a competent president too, maybe it's time for a first in that as well
PAKISTAN HAS HAD A FEMALE PRESIDENT IS THAT THE STANDARD YOU WOMEN WANT HAHAHAHAHAHAGAXDXZD
My country also had a woman president i am not an American lol what are you talking about? Sorry but pakistan is not even a little appealing country for me and most of the people. Nothing you had could be a thing i want. I just want to tell :)
When considering who runs my nation I honestly do not care whats between thier legs only whats between thier ears
Absolutely. What does gender have to do with politics?
We care more about a persons gender (females only) or race (blacks only) today more than anything else.
@Cupcakes_No_Flakes
I'm guessing that the idea of having a female president turns on all the feminists in 'merrica?
Well most people either A don't want one, B eletoral college didn't elect her, C it is what it is
Don't worry. IMHO, Biden will do his first 100 days then come up with some silly "health reason" and resign making the snowflake Harris POTUS.
very
it'll never have one, either. or a jew (trust me, i am one, and i know how our country is)
So you don't consider Vice President as a form of being President?
Not until she holds the title of POTUS
Given that Biden is clearly in the midst of SERIOUS cognitive decline, I think it's safe to say you won't need to wait long.
