Are sex crimes worse than murder? Why?

Why is it that men who commit sexual crimes get more prison time and more public outrage than men who commit murders? People who are the victims of sex crimes can recover and still live their lives. Murder victims can't.

There is a common myth that sex offenders "get out early" which is completely untrue. I've worked at prisons in California, and male sex offenders get 10 to 20 year (or more) sentences and are at great risk of being injured or killed by other inmates. They rarely if ever get paroled. AFTER they serve their sentence, they are evaluated by a Psychologist (like me) to determine if they are a "Sexually Violent Predator" and if they are, they get civilly committed to a state hospital for life.

Nobody "accidentally" gets out of high level prisons or escapes. The architecture and planned security of prisons prevents this, and sex offenders are really never paroled and released early. if anything their sentences are (unconstitutionally) extended. Murderers are far more likely to get out early and get lighter sentences.

Both are equally bad and both should be imprisoned for life or executed...
But we live in a country that worries more about the "living conditions" of prisoners than kids being abused or living in poverty... We care more about the due process or criminals rights than the rights of the people they brutally raped or murdered or their families... When I'm sorry, but to me you give up your rights when you brutally take away an innocent person's rights... And I don't really care about downvotes, so have at it..

How do you separate innocent but falsely or mistakenly accused people from actually guilty people without due process, or do you believe this to be unimportant?

Did I say that tho? I said when that becomes MORE important than the rights of the victims, and the rights of all people.
What do you think there's more of tho? Innocent victims that have been raped, molested, brutally murdered or wrongly convicted people? And due process shouldn't include letting GUILTY people out to commit more rapes, molestation, or murder yet it happens every day...

Due process is unfortunately not perfect. One reason there is an emphasis on the rights of accused people is that if their rights are violated they usually go free, and also because we have appellate courts that correct errors in due process, after a GREAT deal of time while the person is generally free.

The only way you can determine if someone is guilty or innocent is by conducting a *trial* which conforms to the dictates of due process. Without due process, you might as well just lynch anyone you think might be guilty. That used to happen a lot and it does not anymore because of our Constitution, which includes due process.

With murder, the victims problems and pain are over, and the rate murderers actually go to prison for life is far higher than with rape. With rape, the sentences can be much lower, IF they are convicted. Also the victim will always have problems for the rest of their lives, and the public is at risk of they are to get out somehow.

Murder is worse. Just look at how many female convicted pedo teachers get 2yrs jail or even house arrest for sleeping with 12 year old students.

@Brainsbeforebeauty They are in jail, not prison, which means that they have not been convicted, or if they were, it was a misdemeanor, not a felony, since sex crimes are all felonies and for felonies, you go to prison.

Have you ever worked in a prison? I have, and prisons do NOT like violence among inmates because it ruins their reputations such as they are. Men who are at risk from other inmates, mostly sex offenders, transsexuals, and child molesters, are put in special facilities called "protective custody or special needs yards", and are carefully guarded so that doesn't happen. You have watched too much TV.

Not as much, no. I mean murder is bad, but rape is equally bad, maybe more. The court should overrule Coker and allow the death penalty for convicted rapists.
