I love how Fauci has been serving in his position since the Reagan administration, no one knew who the fuck he was, then in ONE year he’s all of a sudden this wildly corrupt guy. C’mon man. Look in the mirror. All of your bad feelings about the corona lockdowns is just based on you not wanting to have to change your lifestyle, and you’re apparently unable to handle it. I don’t say that to be a dick, we all delude ourselves about things, but the anti-lockdown response has basically been rooted in “but I don’t wanna stop going to restaurants!😭😭😭” I’m not comfortable either, we all made sacrifices, of course there were economic impacts, of course we’ll look back on it and maybe say we could’ve done some things differently. If I had heard that Fauci, the CDC, the WHO were corrupt before any of this started, then maybe I’d believe it. But I’ve witnessed hundreds of millions of people essentially just trying to plug their ears and “la-la-la-la” this whole thing away, so it seems much more likely to me that a mass of human psyches were unable to handle this abrupt change to our normal routines, and the first place your mind goes is to find a way to discredit it so it doesn’t have to be your reality. We all trust doctors until they tell us our cholesterol is too high and we have to stop eating cheeseburgers and drinking beer, and then we say they’re idiots, because our brains don’t like what their being told.

So it becomes “I’m not wrong, THEY’RE wrong!” People didn’t want this to be their reality, so conspiracy theories were concocted, and the internet and social media allowed them to spread and gain steam once enough people were saying it.

I’m not telling you no mistakes or miscalculations were made, but you have to understand this was all new information to everyone, we were learning as we went, protocols for dealing with it changed, and that gives the illusion of them moving the goalposts on us, but they’re just rolling with new information as it came in. Your problem with Fauci is that he was the one relaying the news to you that you didn’t want to hear. In 2019, if the CDC said something was harmful to our health but we could carry on life as usual, we’d say “well shit, they’re the CDC, they obviously know what’s up.” But we didn’t like what they were telling us, so many demonized the messages to psychologically endure the hardships of quarantine life.

Fauci has saved many tens of thousands of lives. Trump has cost about about 130,000 American lives, due to his extremely poor handling of the epidemic. Yet right wingers praise Trump, the man who killed tens of thousands, and denigrates Fauci, the man who saved tens of thousands of lives. That is what happens with a cult.

No actually the lockdowns killed more people than the virus did. Keeping people from getting cancer treatment isn't saving lives.

... When there are people who rape, murder, torture and even dictators committing genocide against whole groups of people you think Anthony Fauci who is a medical advisor is the biggest piece of shit on earth?

I bet that viewpoint is not based on any political bias what so ever.

Thousands. Since you think Fauci tells the truth, then you know in March he said that masks were ineffective. Later he says they are of utmost importance. When questioned on his change in position, he stated he said masks were ineffective because he wanted to preserve PPE equipment for first responders. So by advising people not to wear masks for months, every one of the people who caught covid and died is blood on his hands.

He also refused to call any BLM protest a super-spreader event. So that gave people a false sense of security. We all know someone must have gotten covid at a BLM protest and spread it to grandma who died.

@joeldalton Fauci told the same story from the beginning. The reason he advised the public not to purchase N95 masks specifically is because they worked and they were needed for hospital staff. There was just not enough of them in circulation for people to buy and use them on a daily basis so there was a priority to give them to hospitals.

His analysis at the time was also accurate in that masks aside from N95 does not provide actual protection from infection and just gives people a false sense of safety and N95 masks must be worn by people who are educated in their use for them to be effective which normal people are not able to. All of these are true statements.

What masks does to stop the spread of the pandemic is simply to help prevent sick people with a mask from easily spread it to other people. Its not much but even a small difference helps when you work on large numbers.

Also if you want to start arguing about blood on his hands, consider if he said people should get N95 masks and suddenly the hospitals ran out of masks and started to become virus factories to spread it across the country. Would the death toll be up at 1 million by now?

He didn’t say jack shit about n95. he said masks, lol. oh, and since you don’t know, here’s what the CDC just said about mask mandates:

During March 1–December 31, 2020, state-issued mask mandates applied in 2,313 (73.6%) of the 3,142 U. S. counties. Mask mandates were associated with a 0.5 percentage point decrease (p = 0.02) in daily COVID-19 case growth rates 1–20 days after implementation and decreases of 1.1, 1.5, 1.7, and 1.8 percentage points 21–40, 41–60, 61–80, and 81–100 days, respectively, after implementation (p<0.01 for all) (Table 1) (Figure). Mask mandates were associated with a 0.7 percentage point decrease (p = 0.03) in daily COVID-19 death growth rates 1–20 days after implementation and decreases of 1.0, 1.4, 1.6, and 1.9 percentage points 21–40, 41–60, 61–80, and 81–100 days, respectively, after implementation (p<0.01 for all). Daily case and death growth rates before implementation of mask mandates were not statistically different from the reference period.

So after 100 days. 3 months of mask mandates, we saw a whopping 1.9% reduction in the RATE of death growth rates. So a statistically insignificant number.

Fauci also lied about the % needed for herd immunity. He admitted lying about that too. You were bamboozled by a huckster.

@joeldalton Funny way to talk about cloth masks by implying that the medical community needs them in hospitals. What doctors need is N95 masks and surgical masks, not cotton masks. They were talking about masks intended for medical use, not masks that most people wear on the streets today.

Just because they were talking about it using the general term of "mask" means nothing when they were talking within the context of N95 and similar masks. Masks has also been proven to be effective in studies around the world so if anything this just displays how Americans fail at everything.

As for herd immunity there is no golden number. It is based on outside factors such as how many people interact with each other and so forth so if you change public behavior such as having them meet less people you also change the effect of herd immunity. In a general sense this is how it works:
Is Anthony Fauci the biggest piece of shit on 🌍 earth?

But as I said before its mostly based on other factors on at which point it starts to kick in.

Oh boy, here we go. This is the problem with you leftists. Because you can’t ever remember what you say and believe you think the rest of us can’t.

Fauci said that masks don’t work. The World Health Organization told us not to wear masks. The Surgeon General of the US told us not to wear masks. People selling the exact SAME masks you’re throwing on your face right now were sued in the spring of 2020 for making misleading medical claims.

15 years of studies have shown that even surgical masks are ineffective at preventing the spread of respiratory viruses.

Here’s where you’re going to fire up your “ScIEnCe CHaNges” NPC generator. To which I say to you 1) the method of transmission didn’t change we knew it was ‘droplets’ in the spring of 2020 and 2) Mask technology didn’t change.

So you’re expecting the world to believe that nothing changed. Mask wearing was discouraged to prevent respiratory viruses for years UP UNTIL the governments needed something to give people the false sense of security, THEN “science changed”.

Lastly, let’s not forget you hand-wring over deaths in America (which, let’s be honest you don’t give a flying fuck about those people, you just want to use the number for political dunking) then saying the quiet part out loud that you’re ok with people dying to protect the mask supply for medical workers.

This is the problem with Republicans. You dont understand anything more complex than black and white, hence the racism.

Fauci and the World Health Organization only spoke about Medical N95 masks and surgical masks as they were in short supply and required by medical professionals. Also to get the benefit of N95 masks requires fitting and usage that goes beyond what can be expected of normal people AKA they will not follow the guidelines and as such will not benefit from the full protection.

The mask I am having right now does not protect me from the virus. It is not a N95 mask. It is simply helping to slow down the spread since if I happened to become sick, even without knowing, the mask would help prevent me from infecting others. I know this goes above your head but try get it through your skull.

Claiming the normal cloth masks will offer meaningful protection from the virus is misleading. It does not.

You have failed to point out a single instance of Fauci changing his message.

Oh wait then there was his famous “asymptomatic spread has never been a driver of a pandemic” and yet here you are with a dirty rag on your face to prevent “asymptomatic spread”.

Mask mandates for 100 days resulted in a 2% decrease in the RATE of deaths. Just remember that.

Alright then, if masks dont help then why the fuck would he even bother to talk about it? If he was talking about cloth masks then its about as pointless as talking about fashion since that would be exactly what it would be. "You should not wear this article of clothing during the Pandemic!" Your claims for what he means just makes absolutely no sense and the only reason you could possibly even consider it is just because its beneficial for your political argument.

I also would love you to prove his claim about historical disease transmission in pandemics wrong.

In the spring of 2020, people were buying masks. The interviewer asked if we should be wearing them and Fraudci explicitly stated that people should not be wearing masks. Regardless of the type. You are trying to claim he meant a particular type or not to rationalize his lies. Companies were being sued by the government for selling masks and making health claims that they prevented the spread of Cov-2.

How would I prove his claim about asymptomatic spread wrong. When he said that asymptomatic spread has never been a driver of pandemics, that was the truth. It’s always been the truth. The lie of asymptomatic spread is the clinchpin of all the stupid restrictions.

As for the government suing people selling masks, I have only read people being sued for falsely marketing masks as N95 when they were not which is illegal since N95 is an established standard.

"If you do not have any respiratory symptoms, such as fever, cough, or runny nose, you do not need to wear a MEDICAL mask."

Its almost like there are some other types of masks people could wear since they not only specifically mentioned "MEDICAL MASKS" and even showed an example of one in the video they linked to distinguish it from any other mask you might be thinking of wearing.

@joeldalton *sigh* Sheep is it? Do you know what social distance is? Do you know what it is for? How do you think people come up with that distance in the first place? Social distance is a cost/risk analysis. There is no "correct" answer because it is not a case that you are safe just because you are standing on the other side of an imaginary line.

You make a calculation. How large is the risk of transmission if people socially distance to 1 feet, 2 feet etc? How many people will that result in getting infected? Will that maintain the R value above 1 or below 1? What is the cost of doing this in both realistic and economic terms?

If people are better at keeping themselves safe such as wearing masks reliably, avoiding going out as much as possible and practicing good hygiene you can get away with a far smaller social distance than if you expect people to inherently spread it around much more.

@joeldalton That looks at all the relevant data in regards to the Covid the social distance for covid19 and also all recorded studies before then going back to when these things were first tested. That said, social distancing is a political decision, not a scientific one. This is just the foundation that other people based their recommendation on.

@joeldalton Yes. That is why I am well aware of the difference between science and politics. Social distancing is a political decision as I clearly explained before but you were too dumb to understand at the time. Scientists dont really do crap like cost/benefit analysis because they are not concerned with how much a human life is valued in this calculation.

@joeldalton As opposed to the Einsteins who thought it was a good idea to break into the Capitol building without protecting their identity? You know.. one of the most video taped locations in the world? Not to mention they even bragged about it on their social media. Truly the pinnacle of human evolution right there.

Right, they should wear masks like Antifa who are STILL attacking the federal courthouse in Portland. You're still worried about people invading US government buildings, right? That didn't stop when President Corn Pop was inaugurated, did it?
