I'm in the same boat as you. I watched YT clips of him back in 1983 hysterically claiming that straight people were going to get AIDS and die. Yet at that point in the outbreak all the data showed AIDS was concentrated in amongst gay men. And the few straight people that did get AIDS, it was from tainted blood. And that problem was quickly solved by denying gay men to donate blood.

Or then there's his recommendation in 2014 not to quarantine people returning from known African locations of Ebola outbreak. Keep in mind too that Ebola has a comparable R0 to Covid (eg. it has the same rate of infection) however Ebola has a case fatality rate of 25-90%. Here we have a so called doctor not recommending quarantine with a virus that has an insane case fatality rate. Moreover if one recalls the two American nurses who contract Ebola, what the media never mentions is that curing someone with Ebola can be done, however it is a resource intensive process. Yes America can handle a few cases, but it can not handle an out break. If such were to happen, it would be best to consider those infected dead. Also, if such an outbreak were to occur, the military would implement its protocols where they cordon off areas and then napalm the shit out of it.

I don't write this to fear monger, but to put things into perspective. On one hand so called doctor Fauci doesn't want to take extreme measures with a deadly virus that has a 10%-75% survivor rate, but takes extreme measures with a virus that has a 99.8% survivor rate.

An idea that I would posit is, assuming there is no number/data manipulation going on behalf of the CDC, et al, is that perhaps there are number of citizens who are so paralyzed with fear due to fear porn, that the minute they get the sniffles they go running to a clinic, a test determines they are positive for COVID, and then they are marked as being infected. Therefore the cased incidence increases. I'm certain the people who are driving the case numbers up, if they treated themselves as no different than the seasonal flu we wouldn't see an increase in case numbers. For instance, instead of running to the doctor at the first sign of the sniffles, they proceeded to isolate themselves, drink lots of water, turn on their fav streaming service, and only go to the hospital if they are having serious problems like not being able to breath.

Another idea I would posit is. . . well its not like the media has never lied before. I mean like evar. they are totally trustworthy. But on a more serious note, I recall 2 weeks ago that the Biden Admin said that they would conduct a nation wide PSA campaign (aka propaganda campaign) to get more people signed up to take the vaccine. So is this claim that cases are increasing just a poor attempt to scare people into taking the vaccine? Quite possible.

Look at history to see how the US government propagandized Americans into fighting the 1st and 2nd Gulf Wars, look at the Ford Admin that attempted to propagandize Americans into taking a vaccine in the mid 70s because a 19-year-old solider died from the flu, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the explosion on the Maine, etc.

With a new virus there will always be changes in the best advice and the best approach as the science becomes more clear and there are more and larger peer reviewed studies. Getting some things wrong with a new virus is somewhat par for the course. The question is, are there many other people better educated, informed and with equal access to the science? If yes then by all means, trust that guy. If not then I'd suggest trusting Fauci over some Youtuber or Conspiracy theorist.

I don't trust him at all, and I'm just glad that Trump didn't take him seriously. He said the virus wouldn't amount to anything, and we shouldn't wear masks, and we shouldn't close down air travel from China.

How can you get everything wrong, and still be called an expert?
