To make a long story short (and believe me I can literally talk about this for months and I got the message logs to prove it), the reason Sweden has such high recorded rape is partially because rape is legal term defined by local laws and partially because rape is one of the most under reported crimes in every country around the world.

To start with the legal definition, Rape is a legal definition which means what constitutes as rape is different between every single country. This is important especially in the case of Sweden because they at one point decided to instead of doing the hard part of rewriting the law to give harsher punishment they would instead re-classify other forms of sexual harassment and assault as rape and thereby give harsher punishment that way. Furthermore they decided that every instance of rape is to be recorded separately which means if a husband forced himself on his wife for every day in one year that would be recorded as 365 separate cases of rape in the statistics you compare with other countries.

As for Rape being under reported, that means most rapes are never brought to the police and as such recorded into statistics. If your country started to actually attempt to stop rapes the first step would obviously have victims come forward and notify the police in the first place. In fact its estimated that only around 16% of actual rapes ever gets reported to the police so if you recorded all of them that would mean the number would be around 6 times as large without there actually being any more actual rapes.

So yeah. "Sweden is the rape capital of Europe" however that is a fucking badge of pride in this case because its direct evidence that we are actually attempting to do something about this issue as compared to other countries. On a side-note, "real" rape statistics which tries to estimate countries actual rates of rapes places Sweden at around average for Europe.

And this is why people should be careful what they say because chances are you know barely anything about it and the complex nuances behind the facts.

Are there human Races?

One of the touchiest subjects in human evolutionary biology — or human biology in general — is the question of whether there are human races. Back in the bad old days, it was taken for granted that the answer was not only “yes,” but that there was a ranking of races (invariably done by white biologists), with Caucasians on top, Asians a bit lower, and blacks invariably on the bottom. In my own field of evolutionary biology, races of animals (also called “subspecies” or “ecotypes”) are morphologically distinguishable populations that live in allopatry (i. e. are geographically separated).
