It's difficult to define centrist these days from my perspective. There are some issues on which I find Biden extreme, as with Trump before him. I don't think I'll ever be happy with a politician. Yet I lean towards Republicans more these days if I have to choose between two evils because I hate identity politics, for example. I really think we perceive stupidity in each other because our values are different more often than not. I really liked Andrew Yang though. What did you think about him?

I think Yang is kind of a true centrist just relative to the climate. Because I don't think any Republican can accept Biden or any Democrat Trump. But I've seen both Republicans and Democrats accept Yang.

Me neither. But let's say he half-succeeded and he has to compromise so much with his VAT tax and the revenue falls short, and he can only give half what he promised. That's still something and he doesn't seem interested in throwing fire into the culture war which divides us. And I like that he's into ending the war on drugs which always made sense to me like if a friend of mine is a junkie, I want to see him helped instead of put behind bars. I dig this way. Well, I'm libertarian in mindset which seems to put me more towards the Republican camp these days. Yet I don't like it. I like the Dave Rubin types, for example, and I think there isn't a voice for that style of thinking that isn't drowned out on the Democratic side.

For me it's not a matter of should but whether the government is competent enough to provide it. As ambitious as UBI is, it seems far less ambitious to me than something like universal healthcare since it's a direct redistribution without so many middlemen in between. In countries that do a reasonable job providing universal healthcare like those following the Nordic model, their governments and leaders seem overall competent (including fiscally) and reasonably efficient across the board and their people and representatives far less politically or even culturally divided.
