Basically any conflict in the world has the potential to become a world spanning conflict that brings out the worst of the worst weapons of mass destruction, if other countries in the world determine they have a vested interest. That doesn't mean that any of them will.

It is extremely unlikely that shootouts in Israel will do that. The most probable worst-case scenario is that Iran gets directly involved with its uniformed military, which would then drag Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Iraq, and maybe a couple others in who would directly oppose Iran. Some of this has been happening for years now even prior to Trump's peace talks because everyone over there noticed that Iranian agents are inciting far more violence than the Israelis or any other actor.

A more likely scenario is more and more things like this start happening all over the Middle East as a convenient excuse by the US government to keep rotating troops through and dumping money it doesn't have on the doorsteps of nations nobody in the US wants to support.

In Jordan where most Palestinians live the King gives you free land when you get married. In Israel, there is always the possibility of being relocated due to settlements. It’s a pretty easy choice if you want a peaceful life as a Palestinian.
