Why don't more people do MMA?

Not everyone is interested in doing things that challenge them. This is very sad, and I wish people would do things that challenge them, both physically, and mentally.
I used to do martial arts when I was a lot younger; I am not able to do what I used to do, because of back issues that occurred while in the Navy. I still want to do martial arts, and have been looking at forms that a person with my issues can perform.
I really do wish people would do martial arts to improve their mental fortitude, and their overall health!!
ehh just not interested
glee? eww hate that show
nah i think ill play video games instead... like a real man would heh :P
play some mario kart with me and maybe ill consider it!
I guess thereās lots of reasons. Some canāt afford lessons, some just donāt have the time, some are scared of the pain, some just simply arenāt interested, some do other sports theyād rather dedicate their time to- and not everybody is fully-abled, they may have a medical condition that prevents them from partaking in such sports, so I guess thereās a variety of reasons🤷🏾āāļø
I would end up getting too angry. Lol

I am afraid, mostly of getting another concussion. I had a major one, my head went through a wall, it took a year to mostly recover and I still deal with repercussions from it today. So there is no way in hell I am going to put myself in a position to get my head bashed in.
2? What happened? Obviously there are different degrees. I am not trying to be in a concussion pissing contest, but I had to take disability and I had a sit down job and worked from home much of the time. I could look at my watch and not be able to tell the time, not matter how long I stared at it, I couldn't figure out the time.
Because if they did, women would be shamed and you'd tell them they're the reason "real men don't exist anymore." Because they'd be "taking the man's role" and feminizing them or whatever it is people like you believe.
Irony.
I really want to do it even in my 40s. My only martial arts background besides dabbling here and there is kickboxing. I had the greatest teacher who worked my ass off but I never got to spar with anyone else or step foot in the ring. And my weak point is grappling. I can strike real hard but the real-life fights I've been in got hectic and closed distance real fast, and I often lost to submission holds where I couldn't figure a way out of it.
It's pretty cool but it's bad vibes, man.
If someone is obviously fucked and de facto out the opponent will be still pounding them until either the ref intervenes or the guy is dead.. I don't see the use of still beating the shit out of someone when they're pretty much unconscious. And most of them would still keep going even when the guy is unconscious.
isn't' that a good thing? If everyone did it then your skills wouldn't look as good and even the bullies of the world would be scary again. Frankly I like to tell as little people as possible I do MMA. So they under estimate me in a fight if it were to ever happen and it would be easier for me to beat their ass.
Loss of range of motion in my joints due to age and injuries.
Shotokan karate is a complete martial art that has served me in every situation.
My ex girlfriend was a WUMA instructor and also did competitions ( kick boxing) https://www.wumawebsite.com
she also spent nearly 3 years training my daughter on top of daughters club stuff.
I do a lot of sports, and particularly in football I play aggressively ( at school before I had a growth spurt I was one of the smallest in my year) so even when the odds were against me I felt I needed to prove a point against the bigger guys. But for some reason I never took up combat sports (I've travelled over to Vegas to watch Brit fighters so I love the sport) but have never competed in it other than play fights with friends. Genuinely have no reason why.
MMA isn't really my style, I did practice karate for 7 years. Perhaps I'll pick it up again once we're allowed to go to indoor gyms again here. Haven't found anything good nearby so far, but I'm 25, 6'7 and over 300 lbs, so it would be a waste not to.
When I was younger I did a bit of Judo and tae kwon doe but I don't remember MMA being that big it's a growth sport I think
Bcoz they dont know.. or they dont have enough guts , or they are just lazy or they only like to watch the fight
Because (as some who practiced MMA) they're not interested. As for your update, yeah life hands you a lot of pain, some people don't want anymore for something you or I may think of as fun but they don't.
@WowwGirl Personally, I'm not interested in being muscular. One thing I find weird is, you said in one of my questions that you want to be seen as physically strong to society, but delicate to your husband.
Why?
because of sports I know my knees are not the best, one bad injury on my knees and it would take me longer time than usual to recover so I rather not risk that
I do, started with taekwondo & boxing from my dad then Muay Thai with friends , some grappling but Iām looking forward to find a good bjj school
Thanks
Because, it's hard work, and, it hurts lol
I do mostly BJJ, and a little MMA - not interested in competing, just training for fun and fitness now.
Simple because they see how brutle it is on tv and give it a wide birth. When I was 13 I did some Tai-Jit-Zu.
Because self dicipline is a foreign concept for many people. Also many people sumply can't handle pain.
I should of done MMA and took out the bullies in school
I am too old for that now. I used to work out in a boxing gym for a while when I was in my late teens. It was okay, I used to get some awesome workouts with some of the guys there.
Cause i don't like it, people have different hobbies and mma ain't one of my hobbies...
Don't like to see you hurt owlee birdee š
I'm thinking about learning ju jitsu just for the hell of it. It's the only martial art I'm interested in. There's a joint up the street that teaches it. When this lockdown is over, I'm gonna sign up.
Not many people are ok with getting their ass kicked. Even the winners take a beating in MMA.
Yeah, but it's not for everyone
What body part is that contusion on?
Yeah i always have bruised all over and minor scrapes even on my best days lol
@bamesjond0069 š
It's hard and will only make a living as the top 1%. I used to train but got some permanent injuries from a car accident and had to stop.
Like to watch mma but don't like wrestling so wouldn't train mma. Rather kickboxing or boxing side.
Hope you got a nice guy who will kiss it better for you.
Because some people don't like to get hurt.
because of those huge guns of your right ohhh :P
@Still-alive huh?
Because you'll find most people are pussys once they get punched in the face
Getting kicked in the head is not my idea of fun. I spent too many years perfecting my brain to risk getting it fucked up in some idiotic "sport".
Because they're scared...
So my knee doesn't look like the size of a cantaloupe like that
Good luck in life? I've had surgery twice now on my right shoulder and still going strong. Torn labrum and torn labrum in left shoulder too,, continued to play slow pitch softball with old buddies. I bowl now with numerous bone spurs throughout my body. Have a bad back now because of it. A hip flexor as well and still bowl. I am constantly going. Im hurt all the time, and haven't stopped.
Itās not interesting to them
Because we don't have universal healthcare.
Thanks
Dang!!
Fear of pain
Did you fight a rattlesnake or a vampire?
Because it is barbaric.
I am sorry but I don't subscribe to violence.
cause I've never heard of it
Ouch. MMA is nor for everyone.
there's no MMA gym near me
What do you mean
They prefer other sports?
What is "MMA"?
