Is the price of a woman's life higher than the price of a man's life?

I think so, because she can have babies, and continue the species!!
If something happened, and there were only a few women left, and 100's of men (wait, this sounds a lot like some HUGE nation, somewhere) they would fight and kill each other, to have those few women, and the gene pool would be so small, that the human race would collapse, in 3-4 generations, because of inbreeding errors in DNA.

But also, because women are usually more caring, helpful and nurturing, and guys, well, we usually are just self-centered assholes, when it comes to taking care of others and just being "nice".

Humans have the same value independently of their gender. And that's close to zero.
Whatever their role is, once dead they'll be replaced. The only value a human has is enclosed in their private circles: friends and family specifically.
For the whole of humanity, one dead man or woman is just one more to bury.

Historically the answer would have been yes as they were needed to keep the population going. One guy can impregnate several girl's a day but a girl can only get pregnant every 9months so you had to keep a larger breeding stock of them.

However nowadays with a lot of women not wanting children and infant mortality rates being very low their value to society has dropped so they shouldn't be worth more.

But the concept we are is so deep rooted that few men would bare the shame of taking the last lifejacket.

Yes.

There's a reason why men were the hunters before technology made our lives so cushy. If a single woman dies, then our reproductive potential get lower. The same isn't always true if a man dies because they only technically need one man for all of the women to be able to continue the species. if they all die, reproductive potential hits zero and humanity is screwed, same with women.

generally speaking, yes. Biologically women control the rate of reproduction so losing women is more devestating to a population then losing a man. If you have ten women and ten men and nine men die, you can still have ten offspring but if the reverse happens your only going to get one. Because of that biologicaly women get preferential treatment when it comes to value. Its not exactly fair but it is reality.

As you can see from my avatar you can probably figure out who I find more valuable. I have been told on many occasions I should have been a knight. Plus the fact I can not procreate so we need women more than men.

The price is difficult if not impossible to determine. However, women are far less expendable than men. Kill 90% of the men and 0% of the women and the population recovers in a generation, Kill 90% of the women and 0% of the men and it will take many generations for the population to recover.

Biologically, women are worth more than men because women are the ones who give birth and sperm is cheap and plentiful. But socially and personally? No. I think both are worth equal value, if any.

Societal norms have it that a woman is indeed more valuable than a man. Men are often seen as expendable, and in a way that makes sense, because women keep the population going. But innately they are equal in value.
